  • Nice job bro! I make guitars too. I cant believe all the immature, negative comments these dicks put down for comments. " I have friends that built one" or put "down your ego" I dont hear your ego nor do I see a crooked neck or inlays misaligned. What a bunch or douche bags. You did a EXCELLENT job bro, I like it. People can talk the shit, lets see them walk the walk....

  • the guitar doesnt look that great man. i mean i cant really say much cause ive never built one, but i gotta lot of friends that have, and there necks are straight and the inlays are straight as well. not bad for a first try tho.

  • that rocks!! i'm dedicated to slas too!! love the guy would like to get his epiphone signature but its too much money so ithaught about making one, how much did it cost you??

  • did you half to instal a ground wire i want to build one too

  • when i was 15 i had built 4 guitars by then. a thoroughly detailed gibson 1959 reissue copy (my best work), copy of a gibson les paul and i routed it for a floyd rose tremolo system (did ok, i guess) , a amaturely done prs custom 22 nock off (first guitar build and it had the quality of a nice first act) and a 1991 fender stratocaster from parts and a solid alder body i made (ok). your not the only 18 year old luthier wannabe

  • great job dude im in 7th grade and im almost 13 and i cant wait till high school so i can make a guitar in wood shop

  • im 15 and i made a nice les paul, sounds possibly better than my uncles gibson for a fraction of the price

  • damn ur smart but idiot wasntn ur moneyon wood and peaces to build the guitar havnt u herd of EPIPHONE????!!?!??!

  • You would have been better off buying a used tokai.

  • nice guitar .......but don't think your the only 15yr old who can build a guitar ; i'm 14 and i have built 2 guitars drop your ego

  • @D1GZSTER ay so uh... this was a contest and i was saying shit so i might win... im 18 now you have prob with that to?

  • @cigarboxguitar16

    did you win?

  • 0.24, i do

  • 15, you dnt deserve a gibson.

  • @RT101894 screw u im 15 i hav a gibson

  • @RaiderRectify and....how long have you been playing?

  • you put the inlays in wierrd :P

  • dude you building your own lespaul i can guarnatee you you got a better quality guitar now.....only because gibsons quality control is complete crap now.......im not the biggest fans of lespauls but i love the spalted maple top u have on it

  • Awsome made

    :D

  • lolz im 15 and i had a dedication to slash and wanted nothing more than a les paul, then i started veiring away from slash to people like paul gilbert, steve vai, yngwie malmsteen, and realised i should listen to them more instead of slash as it would help my playing mutch better to do their scales instead of pentatonic, so i ended up buying an ibanez :P and i dont regret it one bit, i actualy think my ibanez S prestige is better than the les paul.

  • @NS5470 i hav an ibanez its pretty awsome but i also hav a gibson SG and yea its awsomer

  • @RaiderRectify Nah, SG isnt as good as a S prestige, In my opinion. S prestige has a ZR-2 tremelo that never goes out of tune with its zero point system, the mahogony body gives it a real humph to its sound and also makes the speakers scream. The neck is alot more Friendly for fast playing and mellow chord progression. It is the best and most universal guitar with the Humph of a les and a scream of a Strat.

  • not to bad dude, looks a bit sketchy but hell, ur 15! nice work, i bet its better than an epiphone LOL

  • @CemetaryGatesML i cud carve a guitar out of tree bark with a spoon and it wud b better than epiphone

  • @RaiderRectify lol depends on the guitar, a special2 or epi100 ....ya probably but im not gonna lie the epiphone les paul standard, custom and prophecy seeries are pritty decent for their price, and their hollowbodies are good,

  • for the last time people! the fret board is just sitting on the neck uncut the inlays arent even inlaid yet

  • how did you cut the inlay shape for your name? what material is your name and design?

  • with a jewlers saw... Silver

  • Wanna make one too...:)

  • greate job!

  • did you build the neck or buy it?also, does it have actual gibson pickups or just cheap ones?

  • Sorry to point out, but the fretboard at 1:00 is wrong.

There's an inlay at the 14th fret, though it should be on the 15th, 17th and so on...

    Other than that, great job!

  • Im making one at school too. I didnt even have to pay for the wood school gave it to me and mahogany is expensive you know. Finland is a good place to live...

  • I didnt make mine at school i have a wood shop in my basement

  • @cigarboxguitar16 neck is way to wide dude

  • for the last time people! the fret board is just sitting on the neck uncut the inlays arent even inlaid yet

  • i made my own also...it was pants so i gave up and bought one.,.,..much easier

  • well.....done

  • Wow I would prefer playing a home made than a bought gibson. Even if it's top of he line. Playing something thaat you have made must be awesome.

  • Nice guitar. But you built it yourself? With no help from others? Your 15? Your dad didn't help you? Your shop teacher? It just seems hard to believe you were on this earth only fifteen years and just up and decide to make a Les Paul? Impossible.

    Come On!

  • @kevykev38 I'm also 15 and if I tried hard I could probably make my own myself. I'm not as good as this guy, but I believe that I could make one. the fact that i'm a drummer does that I would probably make some drums rather that guitars.

  • ya one of my friends is building some snare drums I'm not sure if he has finished them yet though

  • @cigarboxguitar16 Cool... Is he making many or just for himself?

  • just for himself

  • I make every thing, my dad has a wood shop in our basment, and we have a blacksmith shop behind my house right now im building a flintlock rifle from scrach, though now im 17 lol

  • I love the way you made the Dillon logo in the style of Gibson. Clever and a great way to personalise your guitar.

  • I have dedication, im 13, and playing on a junior acoustic 3 out of 6 strings guitar until christmas, and i want one, but can't afford aswell. But im getting a paper round for years of saving up lol

  • respect!!!

  • Because gibsons better.

  • that's sick dude!

  • does it work?!

  • i think u deserve to win the slash les paul...

  • I love how it says Dillon, lmao. Awesome dude. The neck looks pretty good for a home made one, a little thick, but better than I could ever do!

  • the neck is thing because every thing in the picture is jast sitting togeter its not glued or cut yet the ilays are still sitting on the neck and the fret board hasnt been cut to the size of the neck

  • that's really good, considering u made it urself!

  • no shit , if you read the coments above itl say y

  • that neck looks huge!

  • keep it up thats awesome

  • Not bad there kid. I think if you continue you will come out winning with some Real good custom jammys! Keep up the good work.

  • neck doesnt look right lol

  • OMGawd...

    U're awesome man! I'm 15 too!

U have passion for guitar making, keep up the good work!

  • man you have me in shock i had to work so hard for my gibson les paul and i never thought i could make one you will be a guitar maker one day

  • Cool!

  • You rock Dude!

    Daddy Mojo

  • im 15 nd sme dedication

  • nice job dude

  • make a vid how to do it, show how to do it

  • Dude I like les pauls cause jimmy page played one. Nice job btw

  • that's awesome. i'm gonna be making one to and i was wondering if you could upload a video of how you put the pickups and knobs in, i cant find a video anywhere!!!

    thanks!

  • lol im 15 too man and me wanna gibson too

  • thats badass dude

  • Where did you get the les paul specs?

  • were'd you get the material to make this guitar?? ive been wanting to make one too!

  • lol i love how you wrote your name on the top, good job!!

  • i have a les paul, not a gibson or epiphone, just a copy from japan, cool sound though, sounds like a gibson, i just took the pick guard off, haaha

  • We can say that guitar is like a gibson made in china ! :D

  • um NO you can say that, but ill stick with made in my basement in the good ole US of A

  • lol

  • cool! ;]

  • My name is Dillon too! lol That Name on the Head stock is Awesome! at least I know what it would look like with my Name up there ^_^ Good work man!!

  • thats awesome man. and i like the idea with putting your name on the headstock were the brand is. i mite try it wen i make a guitar.

  • how much money have you spend on this guitar??

oh...i almost forgot, great work on your guitar mark...Dillon

  • i would give it 7/10 because the neck is too thick and inlays are not perfrct

  • The inlays are just setting on the fret board and the fret board is just sitting on the neck not cut to the shap of the neck yet. look at my other vids if u wanna see what it looks like finished

  • Great job!

That is a lot of hard work.

  • i have corn in my poop what do think about that . golddyyy

  • i think ur dumbass needs to see a docter

  • hahaahahaha nice, so i supose ur name is dillon haha

  • Me too bud. but isnt it more expencive to build a custom homemade guitar, than just go buy one in the store? and there is ephiphone, slash rocks

  • not really... it fully cost like 300 to 500 to make your own if you know where to shop for parts

  • men that is the best dedication i have ever seen.....i hope when u finish it ...it sounds better than a actual les pau......

cuz i know how much it sucks to want a les paul...and not have it......rock on man

  • it is done check out my other vids

  • im gonna build a flying V, and if everything works out well, next will be a razorback with bolt on neck... got blueprints for ur lespaul?

  • oops was still on sisters account! when i sayed,

"i was going to say that the neck looked a bit wide but maybe it was the backrond."

  • really but neck is too fat

  • omg can people not read the guitar is not done yet if u wana see it done look at my other vids the fret board is just sitting on the neck. IT ISNT CUT TO THE SHAPE OF THE NECK YET

  • Looks like your going to have a really nice guitar. I also am a big fan of the Gibson Les Paul!! I use anywhere from seven to ten guitars during our shows, and my 1973 Gibson Les Paul is my #1 to use..

  • Wow nice job, even an arched top, cool stuff. im also building a guitar and im 15 custom design though so its cooler haha jk.

  • Great job Dillion - the first of many fantastic guitars, I'd bet

  • just get an epiphone... they arent as nice but they're decent. and for some reason the neck looks bent and fat

  • um i m alredy done my guitar check out the other vid and the kneck isn't finished in the vid fret board is sust siting on it uncut

  • i was going to say that the neck looked a bit wide but maybe it was the backrond.

  • keep goin m8!!

  • I want to do the exact same thing! I want to customize it, though, is more the reason I want to make it myself. I want to have the regular knobs for each pickup, plus a master volume and tone. I also want two switches: Humbucker-off-single coil for each pickup.

  • Comes in the kit, on contrary to buying a good les pauls for over 2 grand, you can buy the kit for around 600, and if u know how to make guitars already, then you can make it better than how they give it to you if you bouoght it.

  • the only things i bought was the metal hard ware and electronics Every thing else and i mean every thing i made

  • i built every thing from scratch the neck body... it was no kit, i bought what i couldnt make tuners, pickups... from stewert macdonald

  • thats crazy!!!! where did u get the instructions to make this

  • Nice job, also very satisfying when you make it yourself :)

  • i like how you put your name as the logo

  • thats awesome it lookes llike a real lespaul

  • great job

  • itd actually work out much cheaper just to buy one, thats if you want it to be as good as an actual les paul.

  • @daz4ninjas:

No not always. I think it´s depending on which machines you just have.

If you have all the machines, you could build a guitar that is just as good as an Gibson LP.

Of course you should have some skills in working with wood...

  • yeah you could be right. its best to have a lot of things you need first e.g. wood, tools etc. luckily, i had a whole les paul body and neck from a very old, fake and very VERY shit guitar. so i stripped the electrics, sanded away the paint, got all new stuff and now its all shiney and new YAY!

  • well if you can't afford an Gibson why don't you buy an epiphone ?

  • cause this guy is smarter than you so he decides to make his original replica!!!

  • Oh snap!

    Ya been burned

    lol

  • ausome guitar but the inlays looked alittle off, still good work and i respect ur "dedication".

  • better than a gibson. beautiful top just tung oil it

  • I have that much dedication. i love strats so much i made one too, im restoring a gibson les paul now

  • thats awesome

    a paint job would

    be nice

  • cool

  • needs a paint job but good work how long did it take

  • That is EXELENT! Your dedication is very commendable. If I would have tried to do that when I was your age, I probibly wouldnt even have the body cut out....HAHAHAHAHA! Seriously, Exelent work.

  • wow dude you really did a good job. but does it sound good?

  • ya it sounds pretty good but i took it to a guitar shop and got it all adjusted i had a vid up of playing it but the sound quality sucked so i took it of cause people were saying it sucked

  • ya im all done an no shit building u things gives you pride i did't just build it to save $ if thats what ur gettin at

  • im 14 and im building my own les paul because i feel that building something gives you more pride when playing than just something u needed too save your money for,in the future il have some pictures of my progress starting from the ending of sanding my body.

  • SWEET

  • I would like to make a guitar like thar but I don't have enough money...no money...

It's great and I hope it will sound great too!

    Keep on Rockin'!\m/

  • it probably doesnt sound as good

  • awe.

  • im 16 and im building my own les paul. theyre amazing and i love slash too. im almost done just waiting on some parts. should have a demo up soon.

  • Damn dude! thats fuckin awsome! May I sugest a sunburst?

  • can you tell me about the contest, and if its still going on?

  • sorry impretty sure it nded awhile ago

  • oh, well thanks. i was thinking about making a guitar pretty soon and if the contest was still going on i was gonna make a lp

  • cuz it would look real

  • if i did any thing i would stain it if i painted it you wouldnt beable to see the grain

  • good idea

  • I know a 12 year old that saved up his own money, sold a guitar of his, sold some other stuff, and bought a Gibson Les Paul

  • you no, you COULD paint it

  • wow nice job just hope it plays like one plz make a vid wen its done!

  • COOL

  • also ... it is illegal to do that...... it's owned my gibson, and by puttuing gibson les paul on thwre.....,. it's illegal, gibson owns that shapew and name.... (good job any way!)

  • also were on my guitar does it say gibson? it doesnt i never said i made a gibsonles paul i only said i made a a les paul

  • lol it says Dilion not gibson sorry lol

  • no, it really isn't illegal actually

if he sells it, then it's illegal

even then it might not be, because so many companies make les paul shapes...

  • Ya but the shapes arn't exactly 100% the same they are diifrent

  • really? I've seen many guitars that are the same exact shape as a gibson les paul, but the finish isn't as good, they probably use different woods, and they didn't have fretboard biding and real mother of pearl on the fretboard.

  • shape doesn't matter. XBassBeast is right. you can have a guitar to the exact specifications as a Gibson, and as long as you don't sell it it isn't illegal. The only way it would be is if hes made exact replicas of the electronics that have patents, and then sold it. I have a "strat" that i redid, painted Fender on it, and is legal....unless i sell it. and then its ok as long as i say it's a copy.

  • How did you know how to do this

  • lol i still dont

  • WOW! 5 STARS! SLASH IS AWESOME! you get his book? it's rly kool!

  • WOW im in your place there i love makeing things and ive always wanted a gibsin les paul. but i whouldnt of done that good...O MY GOD...good job keep up the good work

  • Lol, I would buy that guitar...if I had the money, great craftmanship and dedication. Keep rockin!

  • That's dedication. my hat goes off to you!!!

  • wow did you buy a kit that has the neck in pieces.. or did you make the neck by scratch? im not building my own neck.. im making adjustments though.. i started my own guitar when i was about 14.. but stopped from almost buying templates and just got a new mim strat.. now i want humbuckers.. so i'll be making a gibson once schools out.. and its gonna have a maple top.. and mahoghany body.. a neck from online... and '57 humbuckers... all the other parts will be bought online...

  • i made the neck from a solid peice of mohogany and the body is just maple glued on to more mohog which i also made every thing that i couldnt make i got from stewert mac

  • Man, I want to do this so much (especially because of the "Dillon" on the headstock, that's so cool), but I don't have step by step instructions, nor the time and effort.

  • i built the whole guitar from the plans on the last pic on my other vid

  • the neck is freakishly wide. but its pretty cool

  • no crap these pics are from before i cut and glued the neck and fret bord together

  • i didn't notice...cool

  • hey i made a les paul, have a look at the video on my account... it may answer a few questions on how to make one

  • thats amazing

i've recently been wanting to make a les paul

can you give some tips please

  • get the plans from stew-mac and do some research if you dont know how to set a guitar up the placment of the bridge to neck and bone needs to be prasise or the guitar will sound like crap. also it depends on whether u are making a carved top or a flat top because you will need diffrent parts. Im almost done putting laquer on it and hopefuly ill be playing it this weekend. hope this helps and iff u have any other questions please ask. ill put up anouther vid when its done

  • thank you

also i'm not making the neck, i'm buying the neck but making the body

one thing i am curious about is how you made the kick ass inlay on the head stock

  • ya i made every thing cept the things that i kad to buy ,the inlay i just took my name and drew it to look like the gibson fount and cut it out from a peice of sheet silver and the cross thing was just something i saw on other gibsons just get a jewlers saw and blades make your desine and glue a picture of it on what ur making the inlay out of and cut it out

  • okay, i think i'm using pearl, and i understand how you use the saw but what tool did you use to cut out the hole in the D in your name

i really like the head stock

i'm was planning on making look like the gibson logo too. but use my last name "Grbavach"

  • just drill a hole, stick the blade in reattach it to the saw and cut out the middle

  • that make sense

also i'm sure if you'll now this sense you didn't paint your guitar

but i'd like to do the classic cherry sunburst, on stew-mac there are a lot different paints, what do you think

  • no paint use stain if get the spray cans of cherry and amber and then u will need the nitrochelulose spay laquer to then just follow the directions on the can
