  • brigadier.. Sarah jane I miss you so much

  • Well. That's that, then?

  • Thanks for posting this. I saw this ages ago (1987 or 88?) on WUNC-TV in North Carolina and was hoping to find it again someday.

  • this looks like a promotional tool for pbs stations

  • @FilmationArchive It was.... I just wish I could find a better copy... It was shown on WXXI (Rochester, Ny).

  • It's a shame William Hartnell can't see what a legacy has been created since he layed the foundations of the show. If he wasn't succesful, the show wouldn't have carried on...

  • @shepja87 Well he got to see Tom Baker take over so that was pretty good. But yes, just imagine, if he saw Matt Smith. I bet his jaw would drop.

  • Thanks, I've been looking for this!

  • You can't have recorded it during Davison's era, there were clips of Colin. It's interesting, though. Shame it cut off abruptly at the end.

  • @lukepietnik I don't clearly recall when this was shown, but it might have been just before the first Colin Baker episode... But it was around that time frame...

  • @bschollnick I had a recording of this off my local KVIE PBS station -- on my tape it aired immediately before they showed The Five Doctors. This is only missing a few seconds of the ending (much more at the beginning), and mentions "21 years of adventure", so I'm guessing it was a repeat showing of T5D.

Search for "Doctor Who PBS Telethon Intro" for the full 11 minute (but lower quality) version.

  • @lukepietnik I'm guessing this was 1984, the end of season 21. The last story of the season was Colin Baker's first.

  • This is fascinating, and quite good as a "quick guide" or introduction to the series. I take it it's PBS. About 12 years ago, I saw an American documentary about the history of TV Sci-Fi, hosted by William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. It didn't mention Dr Who once. Scandalous. All the content was American. The Paul McGann movie might have merited a mention, but no - the longest running TV Sci-Fi series was completely ignored.

  • Wow, This is very cool.
