@Trallar Jordan was explaining how he learned to ballroom dance, and before he could finish the story Conan made up the ending "so you murdered them." It's a play on the fact that Jordan is kind of weird and Conan makes fun of him all the time about it. This clip is the only time I've seen him almost laugh. Hope that helps!

The local NBC affiliates were tanking in the local news department, which is a huge contributing factor in generating Tonight Show viewers. Jay on the other hand always had incredible lead-ins. Why would Jay stick around NBC if they forced out of a job as he puts it? Also, Leno had very poor ratings when he took over the Tonight Show. It took him almost 2 years to improve.
