  • You'll need a fairly large model boat. It needs to carry a gps and something to run your software. You'll also need to throw some hardware in there to interface with the steering system. For our boat, we had two laptops running on the boat to do all the calculations and a microcontroller to interface with the hardware sensors. Some work has been done using a pocketPC to run the software, but the development process was much more difficult. Other than that you just need time and patience.

  • Hi aquaticguidance..Great idea...I have a model boat that I would love to do the same thing with!! Can you give me some info on this please. Ive heard it is done with a gps but I am knew to all this and was wondering how the information from the gps can be transfered to make the rudder move on the boat. Any help would be most appreciated..Thanks
