  • The only question i want it's answer in this life, is if anything would ever get this Golden record and get to study it.

  • Edda Moser (Frau Kammersängerin ) (born 27 October 1938) is a German soprano.

  • I just love imagining, perhaps 2 billion years from now, long after the human race is gone, this example of human perfection spinning through deep space. Amazing

  • this is just bragging in front of the extraterrestrial species

  • How lovely this is...

  • Imagine this wonderful masterpiece is on this record, traveling in space for any intelligent lifeforms to hear. Gives me a fuzzy feeling

  • Instead of compiling a set of culturally diverse images and sounds to tell the story of earth. The next Voyager-like mission can just contain a copy of Wikipedia.

  • well i hope aliens of higher intellect and understanding dont read youtubers comments, because then were all fucked!!

  • The committeemen that made the record for NASA was headed by none other than Carl Sagan. He was to say the least a very vocal atheist, I doubt a bible was included, but an overview of the spiritual side of humanity was surely included.

  • who really gives a phoque if mozart was born in Bavaria, and what not, this is like to show human culture, and its music. Either way, this soprano is amazing :) Her diction is amazing

  • ★★★★★ブラボー!!!!!!!!!

  • Austria-Germany omg u american "§$%§" They are both "germans"

  • @fabwed u mean both austrians

  • So much ignorance in some of these comments... Study human history and culture before meeting the aliens otherwise they'll fly away!

  • don`t worry!

When mozart was born in 1756 in salzburg, this was a part of the kingdom of bavaria. which means he is a german. but today salzburg is a part of austria. Who cares.....

  • eda moser is one of the best Queen of the night ever int this very difficult aria

    JMB

  • Poor aliens...

  • @madlen1225 Why poor aliens ??

  • @TheLeon96Ahuel only few from the songs are good the others no...

  • music like this will scare the crap out of the aliens man, shoulda put some jimi hendrix in there along with a big bag of weed. they would make us their gods.

  • what if they dont have ears at all? :)

  • @nilayozsuer hahahahah... really funny :)

  • @nilayozsuer

They probably won't, or not as we know them...

  • @nilayozsuer at least they can see the picture/scribbling on it, or feels the texture. But what if they're all amoebas? Then we just waste our time, technology, and effort.

  • This is 'Der Hoelle Rache,' from 'Die Zauberfloete.' This one is interesting for what it demonstrates about the the science of sound as it relates to the potential of the human voice, which I guess is one reason it was chosen. The high notes she reaches are whistle register F6s, which are about the highest notes you will find in the classical vocal repertoire. Higher tones than that have been achieved, but not in what we would consider art music.

  • WOW !

  • Though I'm an ignorant to this music this piece immediatley caught my ear!!!

Thank you for taking the time to post this videos!

  • Mozart, Bach, Beethoven....

Don't you think Voyager brings just too many Germans?

  • @Palangkaraya2008 Nope, cuz they were one of tah biggest culture-creating and supporting Nations in past history.

    regards from good ol' germany

  • @Palangkaraya2008 mozart wasn't german....

    sorry had to say it

  • @paranoid711 austria, germany, bavaria, holy roman empire... doesn't really matter

  • @paranoid711 ok he was born in austria but his father and his mother come vom from germany

  • @paranoid711 @paranoid711 ok he was born in austria but his father and his mother come vom from germany

  • @Palangkaraya2008 Most of the brilliant genius are from... u know Germany...

  • @7xXx666xXx7 Yes, most of the brilliant genius are from Germany. Like Albert Einstein and Werner von Braun. I wonder why Einstein's most important work was written in Switzerland. And Werner von Braun, who made Voyager mission possible, why on earth did he helped launching US rockets instead of German's? By the way, I don't believe that Leibniz stole Newton's work on calculus. Newton just a jealous guy.

  • Whoa! .. This is the version to top! .. Any takers? .. I don't think so.. BRAVA!!

  • wow i just came... this is some amazing work

  • if i didn't know better i would like to think this sounds very outa space :D

  • does someone know how much tera bytes the record was :D?

  • Dont misunderstand the work. I think what she is saying, in German, or any other language, isnt as important as how it is being said. I dont understand German but i can hear the unmistakable emotions the composer is trying to convay. The joy and the pain, its all there, you have but only to listen for it. The "alien race" will hear it as well if they listen.

  • @allpainppd If they have ears or means to hear or even comprehend it like we do, chances are extremely

small in that department... But who knows?

  • Imagine if your voice was chosen for the record. Hopefully, to live on and be heard 100s , or thousands of years in the future.

  • this is beautiful, it makes me happy to think an alien race might here this

  • @dtedarcy

    Moron, this performance IS good.

  • @dtedarcy

you are what we like to call "a moron."

  • hmm

  • la mejor version de esta aria , bravo

  • She's called Edda, not Eda. =)

  • "Hell's vengeance boils in my heart"

    We come in peace?

  • Unless aliens speak very good german they won't get it. =D

  • @maartsvenson Im german and i cant understand a single thing she's saying :P

  • @maartsvenson

German is such an arbitrary language even most Earthlings don't get anyway.

The high pitched noise would probably give them a nervous breakdown.

  • @soccom8341576 i dont think german is arbitrary at all. quite the opposite actually (cf english, french).

The orthography is very predictable, the prononciation is fully phonetic, the grammar is richer and this might be slightly challenging yet there are no exemptions. only the synax mignt be not quite as flexible as the english one.... why do you think german is arbitrary

  • @maartsvenson

I think German is arbitrary because I don't understand it.

Can you give any examples of the predictable orthography and rich grammar?

  • @Balden2 : I'm sure the Klingons would understand. XD

  • @Balden2 if the Voyager comes with the bible aswell (and it most likely might)... then shit...

  • @Balden2: Hahaha! I had an LOL moment with your comment -- good grief, you're right, it's kind of inappropriate for a "We come in peace" golden record!

  • Her voice is superhuman.

  • True - but honestly - If I was an alien, I would be scared of her voice in the first few seconds ;-) Those were really "extreme". ;-)

  • @reklamedame

enough to convince world congress to destroy earth.

  • I wonder, is there a DVD out there with the same content as the golden record? If so I would SO buy it.

  • same!

  • I never knew that Voyager was floating in outer space with a golden record. I just saw a segment on TV about it now. What is it for? Alien music?

  • Well first of all the record has 116 images of earth on it and all this music on it too. The pourpose of this record is so that if there were Aliens that dont know about earth can see and hear what we are like and if they can travel in space they can come visit us. How? The cover of the golden record has the location of the earth and soloar system acording to the stars around us and our location in the Milky Way.

  • The chances of this thing ever being found are very very slim. It was really more of a statement. I think chances are much higher that someday, if we don't destroy ourselves, humanity will find it. More of an interstellar time capsule really.

  • Thanks for uploading the Golden Record.

  • Thnaks a lot!

  • Thanks for posting these! Amazing stuff!!
