  • that is a hitachi drive

  • @MasterBlase Incorrect sir. That is not a Hitachi drive.

  • Wat it doesnt look lliek a liteon but i might be color blind though@gamerepaircom

  • i did this but its still saying play DVD is it that the other drive has a dead laser but it plays DVDs ive done all this still play DVD Help

  • @leef0324uk I would recommend checking to make sure you have swapped the boards correctly if not return the drive where you bought it and get another one, maybe the one you got was faulty.

  • Perfect Video. Is this exactly how the inside of a DG-16D2S Phillips Lite-on Drive looks?

  • @s3LEDZEPPELIN Yes it is.

  • @gamerepaircom thank you

  • @s3LEDZEPPELIN Your welcome!

  • lol i can flash the new drive with the old drive dvd key and fw, takes less then 10 minutes. flashing is not confusing, it has a step by step guide or YOUTUBE TUTS..

  • @MaNGoMoDZ That is because you do it all the time but the average consumer will need to spend more money and way more time flashing then swapping the boards.

  • Respond to this video... hi can someone tell me if this will this work on liteon drives? (because i can`t find any people doing this with them on youtube)

  • Great Video! Been trying to find a way on how to do this for months! Cheers

  • @gamerepaircom I was thinking of taking the laser from my HD DVD Drive and switching it into my BenQ DVD Drive for my Xbox 360. My 360 is fully functional but I'm guessing only the laser is damaged since it takes like 30 tries of opening and closing the tray to get the disc to read. Would this work?

  • I have an interesting question.

I just recently received my brand NEW Lite-On disk drive and it's ready to be "swapped".

However, I am not feeling confident in DE-soldering the wires by myself with the Solder gun. Can I ship my old and new drive to Gamerepair so they can do it for me?

    I live in California.

  • @CineBreedProductions Just flash it, you save a ton of money.

  • I love how rough you guys are with it

  • so my xbox drive says Philips & Lite On.. nothing about BenQ. so which one do I get if I want to replace mine? and if the MS Part No. is different then the one I want to get does that mean it wont work? thanks<3

  • @maxwantsbfvietnam Thats is. Yes there are so many ways to flash, spoof drives and can be very confusing. If you cannot just replace the laser then swap the dvd boards. So much easier. :-)

  • just reflash sooooo much easier and play backups at the same time reflash is the way to go

  • @smalltylynch This is a terrible idea. Flashing or spoofing can be very confusing to the general public. Our video shows you the easiest way to change the drive.

  • @gamerepaircom but it might be something with the dvd drive motherboard thats why this isnt a good fix thats why you should re flash to another drive

  • @gamerepaircom does that iron cut the cord?

  • @smalltylynch flashing also gets you banned

  • @smashinglollipops do i cut the dvd drive cord?

  • @5dbzking don't ask me lol but im pretty sure that would break your xbox

  • @smashinglollipops not if you know what your doing :)

  • @devastation711 You may still have a solder bubble on the laser trace.

  • @maxwantsbfvietnam You can connect it to the computer to spoof it however this is an unnecessary step. If you just change the boards it is easier, or just change the laser eye.

  • hey instead of switching out the boards can i flash it and nothin will happin cuz i heard that you can get banned but idk if you can still get banned if you flash it

  • @christiangr22 You can flash it if you want you just run more of a risk of running into potential issues.

  • .........

  • did you take the solder bubble off ? or was it already desoldered ?

  • @gamerepaircom Yes we take the solder bubble of the trace.

  • no beam means no laser. probably dead. is the little flat cable good, might be that, might not be in right.

  • You need to replace laser or laser drive.unless ribbon is ripped then ribbon is fine

  • could you cut and rejoin the wires ?

  • @MrPedigree12 Yes, but I wouldn't recommend it.

  • Thank you man, really useful video! ;)

  • @grogmaninteractive You are very welcome.
