i plan on doing a tour or two as infantry in the Army as a Ranger but after that i'll either do security services as a PMC or maybe become a Helicopter Pilot (hopefully for SOAR) and THEN become a PMC. i suppose i'll throw to college into the mix as well for after i am done w/ all that fun stuff. : )
Im going to join the ROTC now and im going for a Bachelors in aeronautic. can that give me a boost to have a chance to be a pilot in the army when i finished ROTC and be commissioned as an officer? and btw im 20/20
if youre a military pilot do u go up and fly everyday? i would imgaine that you dont but my dada was comsec usmc and when he took me to work he always had something to do. what do the pilots do if theyre not flying just sit around
@chillaxer1993 If you're interested in flying look into the Army Warrant Officer Flight Training. If you go into ROTC you're not guaranteed your career field. In addition Commisioned Officers don't fly as much as the Warrants.
@HoveringDeath Exactly, plus you no longer fly after the rank of Captain and even though you commission in one field you are branched out in another (usually a combat arms field if you are a male.)
anybody have any recommendations for studying for the pilot program? I just got out of the Marines as an infantry man six months ago and I would like to make a career as a pilot flying UH-60 helicopter for the Army. I am 30 years old so I am taking things seriouse now. The guy who interviews people for referrals for the flight program said I have till I'm 34 years old to be a pilot. Anybody have any advise who has or known anybody who has done this?
Anyone suggest any good colleges to go to before going into WOCS/WOFT. I'm only a freshmen in high school, but I already know I want to be an aviator for NG
Thanks but I was told by compotent recruiter all I would need to do is complete WLC and put in for a age waiver; which would be easy in my MOS. I have somany civilian opportunities right now that I haved lost interest in a warrant officer career.lol
My dad was E7 before he moved to a Warrant Officer in the Active Army. He was Promoted to CW2 when he graduated the Warrant Officer School in FT huachuca in AZ. He retired as a CW3 with CW4 training and a possible promotion to CW4 but after 22 years he was tired of the Army. He was in Military Intelligence.
Dont worry about the AFAST just study for it. I did have some prior aviation knowledge coming from an aviation background in the Air Force. I didnt know all that much about helicopters so I went online and read as much as I could about basic helicopters, got an AFAST study guide from a Borders book store, and did the practice test it had in the book. A few parts of the test take some practice so its best to know whats on the test. Ill send you a study guide that might help.
Cool, good luck. Just remember, be direct and decisive about your goals and accomplishments. If you are bound and determined you can do whatever you want in life.
@Icarusdecending82 question for you.. how hard was the afast test? i just bought the study guide book with the practice test.. i know i only have two shots to pass it. so i'm gonna study a bit before i go take it..
@ajballard41 it was fairly tough, what I did is I went through the test guide, copied down all helicopter terms I could find and then looked them up and read about them. Practicing cyclic movements and complex movements was also crucial. Complex movements is one you need a lot of practice doing.
I am 49 years old and have been a Sergenat in the Army National Guard for a bout a year now. I have an Associates degree in Automotive technology, 124, college, credits, and ASE master certification in Truck and Auto repair. I am completing my Bachelors in industrial management now. What are my chances of getting a waiver and becoming a warrant in the Army or Army National Guard(I have 6 years civilian experience and 14 Years guard- part time).
I am currently an e-4 SPC in the Army National Guard. I have a Bachelors Degree in General studies. I am debating weather I want to become a Warrant Officer or Commissioned Officer. I am in the process of enlisting in Advance OCS. After Advance OCS I know I can become A Warrant Officer instead of Commissioned Officer. My primary MOS is 68W Healthcare Specialist. In the Medical Corps there are Officers but no Warrant Officers. My secondary MOS is 92Y Unit Supply Specialist.

compared to basic or bnco, its a joke. go in with a score of 18- or better and youll be fine, and even if you dont, you can still prolly be ok.
wonderboy1123 2 years ago
18-? Is that like 70 percent on the run, pushups, and situps?

oh whoops, sory, i meant to say 180, but a 70 on each would make life even easier i guess.
