Dude, you're playing the wrong notes and you're singing it way out of tune! As far as GNR, i liked it before i heard the original! Personally i think covers were meant to show appreciation the original artist, not to put your own spin on it and make your own tune out of someone elses work! When John Mayer did it, he did it with all appreciation and respect for Tom Petty, not to put his own spin on it and cast it as his own!
