Heavens to John Henry! An odd combo: a wonderfully entertaining pop song by the late great Burl Ives & awesome footage of the congested but beautifully intriguing city of Bangkok. But it's quite ENJOYABLE, I must say! THANKS for posting this! :)
What a wonderful musician, highlighting that singing can sound superb without ANY fireworks, flashing lights, 200 stage-hands, etc. etc. Just Burl and his guitar could fill a hall.
Master musician (and actor), his voice of the same luxurious timbre as that of Nat King Cole's.
My grandmother is on her deathbed and we're all in the room waiting with her as she is about to go. My grandfather wanted to sing to her this song so I pulled it up and was able to play it for him. After 59 years of marriage it breaks my heart to see the love between them. Thank you for this video.
wonderful song from Burl Ives -- there was another video showing pictures of the life Burl Ives -- miss the pictures and miss the singing of Burl Ives
can anyone help me i"m looking for an old song i think it was called 99 years it gos oh my mama always told me never to play with a loaded gun if i:d just listened to her she"d never had a prisoner for a son the picture is still in front of my eyes and the echo in my ears when the jury said he"s guilty and the judge said 99 years i"ve been looking for years if you can help me with the artist name or the name of this song many thanks
Bill Anderson wrote the song but Burl Ives did record it in 1962 and it appeared on his "It's Just My Funny Way Of Laughin'" album from that year. The title of the song is "Ninety-Nine". The only CD version of the song that I know of can be found on the Bear Family boxed set "Burl Ives - A Little Bitty Tear - The Nashville Years - 1961 - 1965"
I just sang a song in church today, (God of the Mountain) and this guy said I sounded like Burl Ives...I was thinking Burl Ives??? - I WISH I sounded as good.
thank you for giving us the opportunity to hear burl ives. I am sure that everyone has at one time or another had a relationship where they have felt this way.
