I don't believe in abortion but adoption isn't always wonderful either. I was adopted by a couple who were approved by the Los Angeles bureau of adoptions. They were well off and I lived in a big home with a swimming pool....I went to private schools, etc. I was also sexually abused by my adopted father, who was actually a pedophile. I remember spending long hours trying to hide from him. I longed for my real parents to come get me. Adoption isn't always the right choice. Keep your baby!
I love this song so much. I'm adopted and I wonder if my mother would ever just pass me by or say hello. Just the thought that I actually was held by her 17 years ago makes me sad. I just want to thank her for giving me life.
I feel so horrible for having considered abortion at one point in my life... I didnt do it, because I turned out not to be pregnant. I dont think I've ever felt more ashamed of myself than I do right now... I know now that even if I cant provide for my own baby, I will never go that route. Thank you for writing this song... it really did hit me on a very deep and personal level. You changed me inside today. Thank you so much.
that was an amazing story to use for inspiration to great song, and i can promise you that you have given a lot of people inspiration and support by telling this story
why do Mark Shultz songs ALWAYS make my eyes water?? I have yet to hear a song that I can personally relate to, yet ALL of this songs that I've heard always make me cry "man tears". ...EVERY. TIME!
This guy makes true inspired music. Love his music.
What a moving song! And it's so amazing to read all those beautiful stories of people who were also given a chance to live their own life. God bless the mothers who have the courage to make that choice.
It takes more love to let them be adopted - it's far better than having an abortion. I think God has a special place in heaven for birth mothers who gave their babies up to adoption.
Thank You for posting this. It's nice to know others who have been adopted like I am. It gave me a different perspective on why my biological mother did what she did. Be blessed.
One of the most powerful songs I have ever heard! One day I want to adopt a child just to give them a home and this song explains why I want to even though I can have my own
I would just like to take a moment to say the biggest thank you to my birthmother and my parents who raised me to be the person I am today. If it hadn't of been for the ultimate sacrifice that a teenage girl shouldn't have to make, I wouldn't be here with the worlds most amazing family and girlfriend. I would do anything for both my family and my girlfriend. God is truly amazing and he will provide for all who call hit name.
This song is amazing. Recently, I've thought about getting in touch with my birth mom. I know it will probably never happen but all in God's perfect time. Ms. Sanders, wherever you are..thank you for giving me life and for giving me to a family could do what you couldn't.
i know the pain that goes through adptions cause i placed my daughter for an open adptions and it was the best thing that i could of done for the both of us. She has a life that i would of never been able to give to her. It was the most unselfish thing i could have ever done in my life but the hardest thing
I connect real well with this song as I was adopted from Bethany Christian Home in the Philippines when I was 3 years old through Hand in Hand International Adoption agency, and have wondered the same thing about what I would say to my birth mother if I ever saw her! Thank you for writing this song as it is a great expression of the love, sacrifice, and heart that MOTHERS have for their children! :)
Thank you, you sang the words in my heart. People hardly ever think of the birth parent. My mother suffered through the many years after she had me, but we're ok now that I've found her.
when i was 16 i became pregnant with twins and the dad didnt care and i didnt have any money and i didnt want my parents to take me and the twins on 8 months later i had two little girls i gave them up for adoption and i know there with a good family and for that i am porud
Mark, if you read this. Your birth mom must have been a wonderful woman. I am so grateful to her for giving you to us. Mark you are quite an extraordinary example of good....Thank you to Mark's birth mom for giving Mark to us...
I wish every Birth Child thought Like you do, And your Song is so Beautiful, I am a BirthMother, and Found My Daughter after 27 years and she Pulled On My Heart strings for a few Months and then Let go.
Maybe One day she will want to Know me, I guess I Kinda Understand, But Maybe the Unknown has Closure Now.
Because of adoption I have life. My Father was adopted. My godfather (uncle) was adopted. Jeremiah's godmother (grt Aunt) was adopted. My Aunt was adopted. My Father in law was adopted. Two of Keith's cousins were adopted. My godaughters have a brother they may meet, and my BF has a first born son because of adoption. ...It's a beautiful choice. Thank you to all those Mom's.
I know what adoption is like since I had to give my son up for adoption, well open adoption that is. I don't like to be judged for what I did, I am only 21 years old and he is 4 months old almost 5 months. I love him with all my heart, and I did whats the best for him, I am in contact with the adoptive parents. I always ask of how he is doing that shows that I love him. I love him with all my heart and all ways will like I always say. Hes my heart, Hes my world, Hes my everything, Hes my son!
Kansasgurl17, you gave someone the greatest gift ever. I LOVE my adopted children...I prayed for 9 years for a child, and God gave me two...My youngest is very ill--recovering from removal of a brain tumor--would I trade a day without her...NEVER...She is a gift to me, the answer to years of prayers...and tears...She LOVES her LORD, and YOU, dear one, did an amazing and wonderful thing. God bless you for choosing LIFE..and giving someone a dream to hold!! God bless you and ALL birth mothers...
@Kansasgurl17 . I am 35 and live in Ireland. I was put up for adoption from birth back in 1975. My adoptive parents, my mum and dad are the most amazing people in the world. They adopted 2 more. Yet there is not a day goes by that my brother, sister or me dosent think about our birth mums. We all agree that what she did was probably the hardest thing she ever did and ever will do. We love her even though we have never met. Hold on to that love, it will always be returned
These two vids made me cry, I'm not adopted, but this song still made me cry... My mother was going to abort my youngest sister, Amanda, because my mom had a 20% of living at tld, and is very pretty I hear! My mom died $about a year later, but, she did the right thing for her little Amanda! Thank God for her!!!
i was adopted so this song really just makes me think, and it made me cry then i started 2 think abuot my life and i do have a good life then tho im going through a ruff time. but i miss my birthmom, even tho i have no idea who she is
Pray that you get to see your actual parents a day. Trust God He can work wonders. See this from another angle too. there are so many kids who need some one to take of them but the people willing to adopt are few. regards Charlton
What about the loss of identity? Have you looked into the adoptee's perspective? Ever made a family tree? I don't know your songs and not into your religion, but you are speaking on adoption.. as though you are all knowing on the subject. There is a lot more to it than than what the state told the birthmother. And simplifying it into adoption vs abortion misses the point.
Whatever the problems of adoption, it is far better than killing that child. It is simple: either allow that child to live the life they have or kill it. That's not a religious view, that is simply the fact of what abortion does.
My only regret is in not keeping the relationship going because now he won't talk to me or his half sisters, but since he taught at my son's school he talks to him. He doesn't consider us his family any more and that's sad. But all in God's time.
@Canbuhay - u make a good point, its the mother choice to have the ultimate decision for the child 2 either give the child a life they deserve wether its with u or not, or not 2 give the child a life at at... its a hard decision either way, i just hope people make the right decision and... GIVE THE CHILD UP FOR ADOPTION. theres always people out there who cant have children, but they would like 2 someday.
make the right decision... please... chose LIFE!!!!!
Mark, if you read this, this is your Canadian friend, Helen. I`ve met you 5 times over the last 3 years, and I have to tell you how blessed I am to call you friend. You are a blessing and one of the most real, genuine people I`ve met in the music industry.
People, believe me...this is Mark...Real,genuine, with a great heart for the Lord and especially for children who are orphaned and or have been adopted, just as he was adopted.
God bless you richly Mark and everyone reading this.
Mark Schultz is such an inspiration and it's upsettin to see him cry but how thoughtful and brill it is to see him share his story and see how much he has done for the world
Thank you for telling this story. I, too, am a birthmom because I knew I could not give my birthson everything he deserved. He is now 3 years-old and has changed so many peoples lives around him...not just mine. His (adoptive) parents love him as if they carried him and gave birth themselves. It's so great to hear when people understand my/that choice. Thank you!
