I never liked the Night Lords. Most of them do not worship Chaos at all and so they are jsut a bunch of insane treacherous murders. Plus they are lame imo for using scare tactics. You're already a CSM if you charge at me I will automatically shit my pants.
@AndroxineVortex I like them because they see chaos worship as a weakness. Also, if memory serves, they turned traitor because they were to be sent to Terra to answer for their methods of war, not because of Horus.
Imagine them as the Chaos Space Marine version of Batman... If Batman had no moral code and was incapable of showing mercy. It usually helps on the awesome factor :D
@Angwulf I mean yeah that sounds kinda cool but compared to the rest of the Chaos Legion, they have a lame background imo. Also Death guard, never much liked them. Especially during the Council of Nikea, Mortarion was a douche lol I'd have to say my favorite traitor legions in order would be Thousand Sons, Iron Warriors, Alpha Legion, Word Bearers, Emperor's Children, Death Guard, World Eaters, Black Legion, Night Lords.
@AndroxineVortex Agree om the Death Guard. I'm a bit confused about the high standing for the Alpha Legion though. Of all the traitor legions, they are the one who is most in question about their allegiance. As a matter of fact we don't really know if they ever turned fully traitors. And like the Night Lords, they too are only mildly corrupted.
@Angwulf (SPOILER ALERT) in Legion it shows that an alien group called the Cabal met with Alpharius and told him about the betrayal of horus and showed him visions of the future. They said that either the Emperor would win and chaos would slowly destroy humanity over the next 20 thousand years or that if Horus won, humanity would perish quickly and take most of Chaos with them. Alpharius did side with Horus but instead of retreating into the Eye with the rest of the traitors, they mysteriously
@Angwulf left. So no one knows their motives. I'm sure not every single member of the AL is on the same side as the other AL members. I believe that most of them follow the cabals warnings and try to make Chaos "win" so that humanity will quickly perish along with Chaos. But no one knows their motives like I said. (sorry if my posts are out of order lol)
@AndroxineVortex I know, I've read it. Thats why i went on the allegiance in question rant. But what i wanted to know was, why do you have them so high on your list, when they are "not really chaos worshippers"?
...Well besides the point that they are more or less the equivalent of the astarte's special forces, which in itself makes them awesome!
@Angwulf ecause they are tactical geniuses. Alpharius (and Perturabo) was resposible for much planning during the Heresy. The amount of attention and detail they employ is extreme and they are brilliant tacticians. Even though there isn't much about them, what little fluff they have is really good. No they aren't overzealous chaos worshippers like the WB but In a battle of wits and strategem I think few would be able to stand up to their guile and deceitful ways.
@AndroxineVortex With the supposed death of Alpharius it would seem likely that their legion would turn to chaos legitimately instead of for the sake of sabotage. Although, Alpharius is known as one of the greatest minds ever in the warhammer universe, so, you could argue that he had plans set up incase he did not survive.
@0Maloy1 It could have been that Alpharius died and Omegon lives, or vice versa, or none at all. But with sooo much subtlty and secrecy I highly doubt that the entire AL is one organized unit.
@GreyKnightSV But the night lords are not wierd goths and satan worshippers like the other legions, their vigilantes and renegedes who despise all authority except their own.
@GreyKnightSV thank you! and yes I agree the music would also suit a Raven guard tribute amazingly well. I'm glad the feeling I was trying to convey came across :) I plan on doing more of these tributes on the founding legions when I have some time.
@DasBreezy Awesome music choice, I always sort of looked down on the Night Lords as the misfits even amongst Chaos Space Marines, this won some respect from me though lol

I always thought of Thy Raven Wings as more of a Nurgle warband theme, but this works pretty well too.

Top notch video, excellent sound track and art. The 8th Legion are my personal favourite's.
