  • Sure standing is harded but 225 military press is still rly heavy, so if u all haters crying about him sitting, go do it standing or stfu imo.

  • i do it too.... berehowsky55 dreams to bench press that once....lol...

  • I love people who think form is everything. THATS BULLSHIT. Form doesn't mean anything in means of just hitting the correct muscle. Your form is your way of creating that muscle to mind connection best, that's why people who worry and complain constantly about form will never be the biggest they can achieve

  • This is impressive, good lift.

  • nice, inspirational music.

  • I hate spotters who touch the bar when they don't need to. Its spotter!! Not........toucher?

  • @YaMumYaNanYaGran Towards the end of the set I like to touch the bar to feel if he needs help, if you wait with your arms by your side and then suddenly assist with the lift it creates a jerking motion which can put some people off. By touching the bar you can assist as soon as you need to and keep the repetition as one fluid movement so it feels natural.

  • @TheAustralianMade Fair enough.

  • keep sayin shit like i weight 65 and i can Military Press 600 or even 1000 or more stfu or bring vid

  • You suck man. I weigh 50 pounds and can Military Press 600 pounds with one hand. No seriously, great work and keep it up. Don't listen to the haters who don't post videos themselves.

  • solid

  • perfect form

  • sick man, that spotter pissed me off he couldnt keep his hands off the bar for one rep. i can tell that was all you tho.

  • Lmao @ the music playing as this dude walks on camera

  • dang im suprised at this.. like.. i just looked up 225 military press because i wanted to see how big the people were who did this.. I'm 165 and 5'8" and can do 220 6-8 times.. im not small, but im not his size

  • @timsg00d i need proof of this you sound like you are bullshitting..

  • @maxbencher83 bromen

  • @timsg00d then post a video then!

  • @timsg00d

Some people just aren't good at it..I'm gifted at deadlift ...but I'm 5'8" so I only have to move it like 2 feet.

  • i would have so much trouble finding the piece of equipment i wanted to use in this gym because everything is yellow and looks exactly the same

  • i can bench 225 once... woo

  • Useful video, thanks :)

  • Why does my neck hurt every time after doing military press? I'm performing the exercise exactly like bskola does...

  • yes janet jackson on

  • I can do 225x1 standing. What's that equate to sitting?

  • @stracinsrt4 I don't think there is any good way to compare, but standing (if your form is strict) is definitely harder than sitting. Personally, I find 225 for a single while standing more impressive than 5 reps sitting.

  • @stracinsrt4 A lot more. I can get a solid 265 sitting, but my standing is dramatically less.

  • Not hating at all, but you're a big fucker, it seems like you'd be able to bang out a lot heavier than 225.

  • i was thinking the same thing despite the name of the video. i was waiting for the guy to do 10+ reps, not struggle and get spots for 3 of 5. Camera must be generous here..?

  • not everyones built the same man

  • That wasnt too bad, Im alot smaller than you are and can do 195x5

  • ermm how is he being a retarded spotter, he's doing exactly what a good spotter should do, and that is let the person max out without helping him, and being there just incase. you can see the guy didnt really need spotting, and so he didnt, now your the retard for saying thatt, and this is actually easier than standing, since you have a back support!!

  • Gotta disagree sitting is harder than standing because you are totally isolating your shoulders. When standing you can easily use your legs to help you, possibly without even noticing.

  • technically that would be called a push press if any leg drive us used, a proper military press involves no momentum at all. So yes if you did use your legs to drive, it would probably make it easier than seated where you only have the advantage of a back support but strict form military press are harder imo : )

  • what a retarded spotter

  • good stuff...nice form and muscle contraction.

  • Why do they always play gay music at gyms? That sh... is getting on my nerves at my gym.

  • is this harder standing or easier?

  • standing is harder

  • i got a 185 pd kid im training can do this for 8 reps dbol baby

  • doubt it

  • I'm 12 yrs old and I can do 250 10 times

  • Form looked good to me. I don't see what's wrong with it.

  • Seated is harder. This guy is a beast but this is not a military press.

  • then what is it

  • Shoulder press.

  • standing is harder; it requires much more balancing and you cant push back against the seat back

  • wow amazing form and strength

  • Another great lift. I iwsh I knew a guy like you, I'm in desperate need of a motivated gym partner.

  • Nice lift man.

  • massive!! strong as an ox! i only bench this for reps

  • that gym is impressive. including the lifter.

  • awesome brother.I hope ican do this in 5 years. The machine for shoulders in my gym sucks.the bench is not adjustable and the back support is way for back.Even people wont spot me for this thing saying its too much for them to spot.

  • very impressive lift, well done

  • yeah i agree, i think i would have a seizure every time i walked in there

  • Dont know how long i could spend there with all that yellow

  • ya me too there is alot of yeloow there i would go crazy

  • They call it Gold's Gym for a reason. :p

  • LOL i go to gold's gym and its not like this. it would be pretty cool if all the equipment were gold :P

  • good lift, gym looks sick too

  • Man, there sure is ALOT of know-it-alls on this youtube place...

anyway.. awesome lift dude.. i did 175 for 8 today. 225 is very impressive

  • Man whatever. To do that seated is very impressive. I'd be willing to bet that most of the people that post the negative comments haven't even seen the inside of a gym. Keep doing what ya doing big man, and let the haters keep doing their jobs.

  • thats a really yellow gym. wow!

  • military press=seated or standing

    seated press=seated military press

and STFU you have no clue what your talking about. That kind of ROM screws up your rotator cuffs my friend. Do some more research. Bskola your form was great bro, nice lift

  • not bad weight on your Smith machine but your kidding yourself if you think you only subtract 10%. You would not be able to do 225lb on free weight for 4 reps and that is more than 10%.

  • I don't know why this guy gets 4 thumbs down, but he's the only one that's right. Seated press is seated press, no military press.

  • helps to have a spotter. i know its pretty well impossible for me to get the weight off the rack without tearing open my abs or straining a shoulder. spotter helps big time.

  • i was exaggerating the injury thing to but you get my point

  • right now im pressing 190 for 8 reps. my goal is 225 for 8. the pace im gaining at i hope to be at that in 2 or 3 months.

  • Damn thats a nice gym

  • golds gym for ya baby

  • Damn thats alot of powertec too!

  • Wow look at all the powertec shit

  • lol listen to the song in the backround very manly

  • Its Janet Jackson, "All for you" .... great jam!!

  • a military press does HAVE back support.

  • thats not a seated military press.

    its a seated SHOULDER press.

a seated military press doesnt have back support

  • I would love to workout in that gym! it seems to have everything.

  • except good music playing.. lulz

  • same here...the music at the gym i workout sucks 90% of the time lol

  • military presses are so underrated, a much more all round exercise than bench presses

  • Nice gym..

  • everyone nit picks at everything on these videos.. shut the fuck up.. no one in this world does absolute perfect form, theres so such thing.. people have different preferences how to do an excercise, close grip, wide grip whateva.. keep your gay bullshit to yourselves

  • Comment removed

  • Do 5 standing military presses with that weight and it will be a whole different experience.

  • Not bad!

  • its decent but I personally feel military press should be done vertically, its clear this lift isnt its either a declined seated overhead press or a well-inclined bench press. I prefer to also take it all the way down - some ppl say it causes injury etc but thts jus cos their upper body muscles lack flexibiliy/not stretching. good lifting tho solid strength.

  • If it where behind the neck, there would be a great chance for injury, but in front of the neck, the bar really should touch the chest/clavicle with very little chance for injury. At least this guy did a nice job of controlling it. Lots of guys just slop through.

  • shit, the whole gym is yellow! wtf what gym is this dude?

  • Good lifts but I like to go down farther on mine because it hits more upper chest and shoulders and less tris. Check out my vid of me doing standing military, I get a hard 15 set with 135lbs.

  • Great lifting and perfect tecnique, buddy.

  • is it better to do it seated or standing? does it matter?

  • Probably best to do the overhead press seated. It then becomes JUST a shoulder exercise because the lower body is then isolated. But obviously more weight can be handled in the standing position.

  • lol, bs

  • its true story Doing it seated isolated the shoulder so its only a shoulder workout and you cant give your self a boost like you can whilst standing so its harder but good for its isolation

  • dat looks like a nice gym

  • sweet background music ha

  • ive improved to 175x7 reps, any tips from the guy who posted this video to make more gains?

  • looks good to me..too close of a grip overworks the tris

  • Thats a shoulder press, but the original military press is done with the hands more close to work more the front delts. But nice weight.

  • Lol the music makes me laugh so hard :p

  • Very nice. The right way to do military.

  • today i did 135 4 X 8, im hoping to get to that eventually

  • cheers crownvictoria999

  • does military press work the lats? its kinda like the opposite of a pull up, or am i talking shit?

  • no it has nothing to do with lats

generally pushing in different directions work pecs, tri's and front and delts

pulling works lats, bi's and rear delt

  • bskola, Exellent form... Good strenth

  • I love the motivational music. very gym-like. lol

  • yeah lets tell the guy to bring the bar to his chest so he can tear his rotator cup, lol. the correct form is to the chin and the back up.

  • its called rotator cuff haha

  • that looked easy, why don't you do it standing like a MILITARY PRESS with zero leg drive, what you are doing is a seated shoulder press. I have no doubt you will prolly nail at least 225 x 1 strict military press, the challenging part is for you to powerclean the weight off the floor first and then strict press it, sorts the skirts from the men. Good work.

  • bro, Military means STANDING hee hee

  • his grip sems a bit wide(not sure if t hat matters) but that is one fucking insane lift i am pretty strong myself and can do 155 for 6(possible7) reps, his military is like my bench, or even more! dayum

  • Hahahaha, thats some hard ass music playing.

    Nice lift though

  • man you are really strong i can do 185 x 8 and im not ready yet for 2 plate :P you have a nice technique keep up the good work my man

  • what's the proper way to do shoulder press do u go down to your chin or lower I always get different opinions on this. Why is Janet Jackson playing in the background?

  • it's all on preference as long as you go down an inch or 2 below 90. going down to the chest is a good way to fuck up your sholder but some guys do it that way

  • he could go down a little farther ant touch his chest, but overall pretty good.

  • For mass building purposes, does it make a difference if you press in front or behind the neck?

  • Not a big one, if you do them behind your neck your trapezius muscle will be trained more and if you do them infront of your neck you shoulder muscles have to work more. Do it in front of your neck, its better.

  • Hey, some people, like me, pack on muscle real easy, so they look huge but don't really lift proportionate weights. It also has to do with how you train. I trained like a bodybuilder 6-10 reps for years and got lots of muscle growth, but now I'm switching to strength (1-6 reps) training so that I can actually lift what I look like I should lift.

  • Yea that guy is pretty damn strong. It takes quite awhile to develop overhead strength. But I would look at that as a very high incline bench, you can tell his shoulders arent really responsible for pushing that weight. I would be curious to see what he could standing overhead press for 5 reps. I bet he would be doing 185x5

  • hey guys, maybe hes doesnt do this exercise much, im sure if he dedicated his life to this exercise like some people do with bench he'd be doin 300 for reps.

  • wow fuck what everyone else is talking about thats impressive... 225 X 5 for a shoulder press takes a lot of strength

  • yea that isnt much weight for his size... but hey whatever works

  • I heard doing this is a pain in the ass.

  • nice lift, queer music

  • That's what I call "Lifting like it ain't shit"

  • that equipment is beautiful

  • BEAST

  • That was great and all.. but I would have liked to see him do it without the spotter touching the bar.. because even just the slightest help.. helps a bunch. Anybody who lifts would agree!

  • Nice lift and your form was excellent, going down any farther only injures the rotator. That's just as far as I go down and it works the shoulders hard.

  • You do not have to go down to your chest moron, all that does is destroy your rotator cuff. Idiot

  • He needs to touch the very top of his chest to be using the full range of muscles, ie do it right.

    It is impressive tho :D

  • whatever people,he did the damn weight right allright.

  • i think its done better in bak and all the way down doin more than 5 reps

  • your not touching your chest, so its not correctly done

  • Die please.

  • excuse me?

  • He is doing a shoulder press, military press is hands closer together

Fine shoulder press if he landed on the chest it only will injure your joints etc.

  • Should never go below you chin. Where the hell you learn to train?

  • I think the technique was near perfect. I bet the big guy wanted to build more medial delt mass so he wasnt goin down too low. As someone above said... if it makes u grow.. Do it!

  • no he doesnt he goes down to his chin like hes supposed to, touching your chest means your using your upper pecs instead of your delts

  • i cant wait till i can do that much. very nice form too

  • Congratulation pal that is amazing... how tall are you, what is your height

  • nice job! i just did 2 45's on each side but did it behind my head.

  • nice lift, It doesn't matter if you keep the bar an inch or two off your chest. You don't need to listen to these people I mean you've obviously got results from what you do. Keep lifting hopefully I'll be at that weight some day. Right now my max is about 225 on military.

  • Going too low on heavy dumbells can damage your elbow joint, I don't know about barbell though.

  • ya they can too

  • I go all the way down with that weight for reps but with a far narrower grip, I will post it in June when I turn 45 years of age.

  • I'll be sure to mark it on my calendar!!!

  • this mother fucker can liftttt

  • By the way DLStar64 I wasn't trying to preach bro just friendly advice from a workout guy to a workout partner,I don't go all heavy I try to build the muscle 'till it's strong on it's own,but heavy enough,I have my 4rep days on military press but all the way down full contraction,it's all trial and error baby my delts weren't responding to the chin but this amature BB showed me the way, ever since can't complain but to grow.

  • im gonna increase my rom as well

  • Stevebc has a point, DlStar64, I used to do a what bskola did to the chin, but try going all the way down to u're clavicals meaning to u're upper chest I even touch it not [bounce] barely touch, and go all the way up shy of locks, since I 've been doing them like that my delts started growing like a weed ecsp front delts crazy and I had previously rotator cuff injuries too but it doesn't bother me if I go all the way down, try it next time, u'll like it but warmup theroughly.

  • full ROM? what the fuck are you smoking? any farther and your supraspinatus would be contracting so much with that heavy of weight, and that could easily lead to rotator cuff injuries. good form m8.

  • He doesnt use full ROM though.

  • Why don't you show me how its done...

  • I don't need to show you. I can tell you that you lower the bar to your chest for full ROM. In that way you lower the risk of getting hurt and also recruit more muscle fibres.

  • i can do about 100-110 lbs for 5 reps...
