This car exists for one reason and one reason only: by 2012, all EU car manufactures have to have a car which produces a small amount of CO2 emissions. This is Aston's way of rounding it out. I mean, yeah, you can say "I have an Aston", but mechanically underneath it's just a Toyota iQ, which means its slow, dull and probably not very interesting to drive. And a £30k start price? You can get a used DB7 Volante for £17k on AutoTrader, maybe even less.

Due to the faff caused by the Eco bitches, Car companies have to limit the total co2 created by their whole car line up (each cars co2 is added for a grand total then compared to the co2 limit) Because Aston Martin provide a whole line up of co2 spewing monsters =D they have to have a car that produces very little c02 to even the numbers. The cygnet is a disgrace, but it is not a cheap car at all, and look at the inside, its sort of nice. But still awful on the out...

Well actually GottfriedvonCramm, Aston are doing a very smart thing. They're doing a similar thing to what Porsche did with the Cayenne.

They're making a city car, which obviously their research has found that a lot of Aston drivers have as well. A lot of people like to stay loyal to a brand, so if they buy a DB9 and want a city car, they'll buy a Cygnet.

Same with Porsche. They buy a 911 and want a 4WD, they get a Cayenne.
