Symbol Types: "Movie Clip" or "Graphic"?

Hi there.. I have a question.. if want to do the animation, do it on the timeline or have to convert them to symbol 1st then the do the animation?

@beahlady1 Either way will work. If you do all of the animation in the timeline first, select all of the frames in the timeline and right click over the keyframes and choose "copy frames". Next make a NEW symbol (control+F8) and then go inside the new symbol and right click again in the timeline and choose "paste frames". Then go to the library and drag your new symbol out onto the stage. At this point you can delete the animation in the main timeline now that it is all in one symbol.

I have thumbed you upto 50 likes , though it deserves many more . I have a couple of qns. Did you use the Bone tool  to create the walk cycle or plain simple classic tween. How many symbols is this man walking made up of. Are they in turn small movieClips or Graphics.

@zorro30mum This character is made up of about 16 different symbols that are all graphics and it is animated using classic tweening. The bones in Flash suck and are no good.

@CartoonSolutions1 tell you something , I agree with you . I saw yet another tut of yours and was pleased to see the deft use of symbols btw I am a Trainer for Flash with a developers mindset . I landed onto your tut to see how most guys just do things on the timeline. U r a very talented person.

Why didn't Adobe just make it so you can work in one timeline (the movieclip timeline)? Drop the clip or w/e into the stage and automatically show the timeline and all that....does this way make animation simpler?
