@nynevergoingback In a nutshell...this is a cover song and due to the file size and time constraints set forth by youtube back when we made it, we truncated the song here and there to make it shorter...and now the REAL reason is that bit at 1:22 is different is because I could never figure out the chord I.A. ended that little backward strum sequence with...ROFL.
Wow! It must be a dream come true to be able to do this. I can't imagine getting all the parts together, including a flute player. Everything was just amazing!
Guys - this is just amazing! The fact that you all spent tremendous time and effort to create these great renditions attests to how great a tune TAAB is. Plus it shows what great talent each of you has. Thanks for including this final piece of side one which is my favorite and pretty much was left off of Tull tours after the TAAB and Passion Play concerts. Do know you are making Tull fans everywhere very happy. Many thanks!!
As a lifetime Jethro Tull fan I really enjoyed your rendition of this awesome song. You all should take great satisfaction on how this turned out. Every one of you NAILED their parts. I've forwarded the link on to a bunch of friends, who coincidentally with with me when Tull played their Aqualung 40th Anniversary concert in Minneapolis. You are also an inspiration to all musicians to what you can accomplish if you set your mind to. Well Done!
Wow, you really nailed the bit starting at 1:48. There are a lot of beautiful bits to this composition but that little acoustic bit is my favorite. Also, sweet bass playing at 3:15.
@muzaklover78 Thank You! That part of the song is also one of MY favorites and was probably the second piece of the song I learned to play way back when. The bass breaks...when we were still in the production mode on this, I called Mark up on the phone while driving across Northwestern Florida and talked to him about doing something special in that particular spot which would be reminiscent of the bass lines in Crosseyed mary, 2nd and 3rd verse. We are very pleased with how it worked out.
far out.ive watched is over and over again and it is word for word and note for note perfect.being a tull fan ,you guys blue me away.5 ***** ps.. ive watched all three segments
This is extremely great work!. My only comment is not the lack of talent or the lack of voice. The organ I wish it would have been a better version of the B3 emulator or a real one and with the override amp distortion.. This is better than anything I have heard in many years.
@733DMPILOT Yea I have never been overly thrilled with the organ sound either...but with no access to an honest B-3, or a high-quality keyboard with good organ samples, ya gotta do what ya gotta do with whatever you have...LOL. Thanks for your compliments though. :D
Astonishing. The result is really worth the time you spent on the project. This part is the most difficult of the whole song expecially for singing and acoustic guitar playing at the same time. Congratulations to you and your honourable mates from Milan!!
Absolutely incredible. Hearing this brought tears to my eyes. Without a doubt my favorite song of all time and your cover is spot on. Makes me wish I was there playing with you guys. Let me know if you ever decide to do side 2. :)
Truly great! You've done what many live bands could not pull off any better. You have molded all the pieces of this complicated and intricate tune from collaborations of musicians around the country (world). I think it came out wonderful! I'd love to work with you on a project if ever the chance arose. Great work!
@JayDeeSG What we've done here was probably easier than doing it live...just my opinion though. For one thing we would need at least two more people to help us...LOL. Not to mention that there can be no overdubs or editing in a live performance. This song has been a personal project of mine for a very long time and I feel really blessed to have had Jak, MarkE, and MarkD to assist me with this particular production. How 'bout those flute chops by Jak, eh?
WOW!!! You always had great vids... but you guys really blew the roof off with this one. Amazing performance! You put a smile on alot of faces with your music. Please don't stop.
Phenomenal! And even more so that it was done 'long range'. Note for note on probably the most complicated rock song ever. Fantastic. Nothing more can be said.
one of the best albums of all time and an absolutely brilliant cover, my one criticism is the distortion you used was a bit to "dirty" in some sections and drowned out other instruments but the cover itself was perfect amazing
OMG - this is absolutely the best cover of Thick As A Brick I've ever seen - ( I'm a keyboardplayer by myself and I'm very critical ) Great Stuff - Guys - I would like to know, how it would turn out if you try Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield - best wishes from Germany - keep on rockin - Guys
AAAHHH...well, you see, this is Segment 3 of a 3-part rendering of 18 1/2 minutes of side 1 of the original song. You have to watch Segment 1 to get the opening lyrics...you must not be very familiar with this song or you would have realized this is NOT the beginning...you can watch segments 1 and 2 from the Related Videos link to the right --->
Never fear, it's more like a kick in the aerse for me... to set the bar up higher, dig in my heals and push the boundaries wider. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hey, I think there are a lot of people here on youtube who are much more talented than I am, so I can certainly relate to the feeling of wanting to just hang it up. But we just have to keep doing what we do within our own realm of limitations and enjoy the heck out of it as much as we can. :D I'm glad you enjoyed this project, we had a blast doing it. LC
i admire the dedication you guys put into creating this. Y'all did an INCREDIBLE job. thick as a brick has always been one of favorites and you guys nailed the shit out of it...just fantastic.

Everyone who contributed did an excellent job and I'm proud to be working with them whenever I can.
oh my f-ckin God.... that is the most amazing thing i have ever seen! and then the disclaimer at the end... i almost fell off my couch! the level of talent is beyond reporach. i alwasys knew it was a difficult song, but when you actually see the blur of fingers on the flute and the depth of the bass riffs perfectly melded with the guitar and keyboards and all kept in perfect sync by the drums.....
Thanks piddlefish. This is about as big of an undertaking as I ever care to wrangle with...HAHAHA. Although all three video parts of this song is a truncated version of Part 1, it was still a very huge undertaking. The guys that worked with me on this project are the absolute best guys I could have ever had along for the ride. Speaking for the others as well, I am very pleased that you enjoyed this.
Amazing! I had assumed you all practiced in the same room for months to get his down, and at the end, to find out that you all had never played together...

That was a very difficult part to play because John Evans did it on a Hammond B-3...with the two keyboards you and really get the chops right. Going back and having to record over the top with the alternating part was darn near impossible for me to do convincingly...in fact I really didn't get it done as well as I would have liked, but I came sort of close. Thanks for your comment.
I'm only 14 and most of my friends like much different music than i do. My friend thought it was crazy that I had listened to the record ( I have the original record, with the newspaper) enough to know all of the words by heart.
Hi ZOOjew. Nice to hear from you! I have been very busy with a lot of things...mostly real life job-related stuff of the non-musical sort. Lately I have been focusing mostly on studio work with my cousin. We are preparing a big list of nostalgic classic rocks songs that we grew up with...the first three are in my myspace player /larrycurtismusic on myspace(dot)com. Hopefully there will be some video before long, but for now I'm just too darn busy with other stuff. Sorry man. :D
Oh Yea! That night at the Filmore, they performed the entire Aqualung album...about a month before it was released! Several weeks before, I was in line to get ELP tickets and as we approached the window, they announced that Tull tickets will now go on sale. We grabbed the first two (1st row center) for $12.50 apiece...they played for 2.5 hours straight! The group Cowboy, opened for them.
Awesome video dude! I'm a huge Tull fan from way-back-when (first saw them at the Filmore East 1970, 1st row and every tour throughout the 70's & 80's)

Thanks for sharing with us...5s all over the place!
the best segment yet of an already majorly great collaboration. well, that's one of my favorite parts of the original anyhow. my favorite part being actually the first half of side two. can't wait for it.
Sure, let's do it. The bits we did for side 1 only too me about 1 year to learn and compile...and that was just the basic idea of the song...then there were all of the details...LOL.
BTW, that big "THUD" you felt way up there in Wilkes Barre was from my lower jaw hitting the floor....HAHAHAHA. I will begin going to bed with headphones on as I learn side 2 in my sleep...hey it works for MEEE. That's how I learned all of the words to Alics's Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie...LOL.
Works for me too, Larry. That's how I began learning Side 1. After my wife would go to bed, I'd don the headphones and crash on the couch. So when do we begin??? "I'm not proud...or tired."
I have been contemplating this comment for several minutes trying to figure out where it's coming from...was there something about this vid that reminded you of Alice's Restaurant, or have you actually heard me play it before? Since I have never posted a video of myself playing Alice's Restaurant I would wonder if I know you personally...LOL.
You made a comment about listenig to Alices res. In your sleep...My High School Teacher would alwayd play That song...When i saw your comment about it.I had to listen to the song.
BRAVO!!! You guys are absolutely amazing!!! I enjoyed every 17min and 52sec of this brilliant and exciting collaborate production. Your rendition is exuberant and fresh. Congratulations. I love it!
Hey Mark. Thanks man, I'm glad you like it. I am very disappointed with how youtube screwed it up. Go to the myspace link in the description...it looks and sounds much better over there.
Thank you...it looks and sounds much better over on my space...check the description here for a link to the other. Youtube whacked-up the overall quality of this one...grrrrr. Thanks again. LC
The pleasure has been all mine, bro! I am very disappointed in how this looks and sounds here on the tube...HOWEVER, it looks a lot better on my space. Open up the description here and there is a link to the better view. :D What's next? I dunno...Hawii maybe? LOL. You should hone your video skills with CEM :D LOL. What a group of excellent musicians. My favorite Jethro Tull album. Thanks for doing such a great job on what you've done of it. Rock on.

Hey Mark. Thanks man, I'm glad you like it. I am very disappointed with how youtube screwed it up. Go to the myspace link in the description...it looks and sounds much better over there.
