For the actuall creating of the sidebar graphics we used After Effects, and then we just use our video switcher to make a text overlay for each individual announcement. we use a Newtek Tricaster as our video switcher.
the intro is a pre-rendered video made with adobe after effects, and we use a live video switching computer (a newtek tricaster) to do all our camera and sidebar work, and the sidebar backgrounds were also created using adobe after effects, the text and stuff is edited in on the tricaster itself
Thanks, we had a nice meeting one day where we sat down and went through our entire broadcast and looked at immediate things we can improve and then long term things we can improve, We are still working out bugs on a whole new style to announcements, we are still following the old setup from 5+ years ago.
Hopefully we can get the changes perfected and implemented before the year is out.
@jgoodwin27 Wow, that sounds like a good idea! Any decisions that I can know about? I like the handheld cam in studio as a bumper with music- it's neat. We've made some changes at 600 Seconds as well, including moving our script writing to Google Wave, so that our writers can write the script a day ahead of time, and I can see what they're writing and add to it. It's been a big help in communicating what needs to be in the script, and what doesn't.
well, so far we are planning things like 1. remodling the set, we don't quite have the funding to build a whole new one like we'd like to but we have enough from a few compatitions that we won to remodle. but for the most part it's just different camera work, something like 600 seconds is live and mostly from a single camera, so a lot of it won't be applicable, we have 3 studio cams to work with, so we are going to change the layout of the camera angles and when they go maybe add a sports anchor
with the 3 camera's it gives us a lot more control over, where we put the camera, from what angle we show the anchors, and when that camera goes on. If you've watched all of ours you'll notice it keeps to the same formula, we are looking to change that around which we should be doing at least every year, but havn't for a long time.
what do you use for your graphics during the news?

I've heard Eagle is a "snooty" school because of it's fluency. Is this true?

@bucknell192
eh, to an extent, a lot of the other schools hate us because we are richer then them, and we usually beat them in sports/things.
so yes... more or less it's true, but i don't think it's as bad as some people make it out to be

That was okay I guess.

ok... lol that was 10x better then any of the announcements we did last year!
strong opening, animated sidebars (animate in as well as a constant animation within), solid anchors.
