they were making them new till end of 2009 the closed the mk1 factory now they were going for a base model about 75000 rand for a 1.4 carb and about 84000 rand for a 1.4i the top of the range 1.8R was about 150000...! good little cars i had a base model that i did up it looked sexy as they always do !

yes it is true. recently there was a big report in the german journal "Spiegel". the golf I is the third most sold car in south africa

Incredible!! I´m in love with the golf mkI LOL! ;) I´d like to buy an old mkI GTI... It´s great that more than 30 years after, one car can be the third most sold car in a country. VW Golf for ever!!!
