The reason why the visual quality SUCKS is because the original video had both camera angles at the same time. This person edited his own video by showing the performance first, then showing the camera man running his ass off.

this was erevthing, the movies was nothing. The russian ark is a movie, so if something did go wrong is coud just be shot over and over again. But this, this was live on tv over almost the whole world, filming with steadycam isn't easy, riding a segway isn't easy also.

Oh, 96 minutes is also nothing, our camera-team works most time sat least two hours non stop for filming live events.

@maltijien hes a focus puller. professional (non-documentary) camera operators don't use autofocus, especially in a situation like this because who knows what the af might pick to focus on. so he is manually changing the focal length with a "follow focus" that is marked to the focuses for each point in the shot. this is also the answer to @gergobergo's question.

the guy who is following the steadicam guy is the 1 who focuses the camera. he has to follow closely to the guy with the cam. a very good and creative shot. Kudos to the cam guy! totally awesome!

Aren't focus and zoom controlled by the Steadicam operator? These controls are linked to the camera using an RF transmitter and are placed right at the operator's thumb.
