@miikhailov rofl... you do realize that the higher end graphics cards last a LONG time. my old 8800gt can still run any game on the market. and most of them at max settings. and that card is old as hell. the 5970 is a futureproof card. its like getting 8-16 gigs of ram. no need for all that power, but you wont have to buy shit for a LONG time.

For example: right now 12 GB of DDR3 is expensive, but you have no use for all of it. Instead, get 6GB now would do just fine, and if you'd need to buy more of the same DDR3 ram in the future, well guess what? The prices for 6 additional DDR3 RAM will be cheap as hell because there is going to be new technology.

Instead of getting one the best Intel Core 2 Quads (QX9700), the smart person (me) buys the Q6600, and then gets the new core i7 shit that will outperform for 1/3 the $

@miikhailov actually if you go look on newegg, ddr is MUCH more expensive than ddr3. 2gigs of pc 3200 is 100$!! you can get 4gigs for that price in ddr3. also, the future technology is irrelevant anyway because your motherboard wont be able to support it XD perhaps the video card you could, but like i said if you get a future-proof video card it will last you 4-5 years easily. maybe longer. so you wouldn't need a new one anyway. the only technology that moves that fast is processors.

@miikhailov also amd is the way to go if you want bang for buck. for a good 500 dollars less you get something almost equal in power. the difference is about 10-15%. also the best part about amd is that they dont change sockets every 5 seconds. so if you want to get the newest technology you can usually use the same motherboard you've had for the last 5 years. intel is the best in power, cant lie there, but im not payin 1k for 10-15%

I would recommend a 5970,due to the fact your getting two 5870 on one board which makes it way faster and way better and room to add another 5970 after for a 4 quad crossfire killer machine.

But after seeing a dual crossfire 5870x2 i was very impressed at it's incredable fast and smooth gameplay and pretty close to 1 5970 in price by $100 so I am at a lost for choice.. myself..

I still believe a duaal GPU one board salution is faster and better than two crossfired.. using a different way of gaming performance.

The second card is processing the same thing at the same time giving you a stronger gaming performance but it's a repeat process..( What that does is give you smoother gaming during heavey action) Where as a one card dual GPU each one does half half at the same time..and it seems faster to me but i could be wrong.. But watching them on screen the 5970 wins.

@GridTec same here. i 1st thought abt getting the gtx 285 2 gb, then changed to the gtx 295. but now i definitely want the ati 5970 .. less power consumption and frees up my x58 mobo. just look up the benchmarks .. overclocking is not set on the 5970 .. future-proof.

The 5970 is basically two 5870 GPU put together. ATI turned the Clocks down a tad to keep temps and power needs in play.

BUT if you have the Power Supply to run it full bore it will will beat a pair of 5870's.

okay, I get it, Eyefinity, yes great, immersive, yeah I can agree that it would be more immersive than using one monitor, I'm not TOTALLY ignorant.

BUT, There's nothing like imitating how your brain perceives the world,like how 3D Vision does it. Eyefinity does help with that, as it gives you a sense of having peripheral vision.

But it's just not the same, you really would have to try it.

Serious now, you really don't know, until you try it.
