@MrScarlett372 I downloaded all the software & used the same process that travisgrindal described, however I carried out an extra step. When I put a DVD in my PC I can see it's reading/de-crypting. However the extra step I took was instead of using freemaker to convert from DVD disc to AVI, I first used freemaker to copy/convert from DVD disc to DVD again but into a directory on my hard drive & this saves them as video files which can then be converted from video files to avi using freemaker
@travisgrindal I can playing DVDs on my pc & I've actually had success since I posted. I tried taking the extra step off first using freemaker to convert to DVD but creating the new file on my hardrive. The new files are then stored as video files which I can then successfully convert to avi using your described process. Only thing is that that it creates multiple files instead of one (eg cars 2 is actually in 3 files). I'm gonna try your increase volume routine next. Thanks very much
I'm having the same problem as an earlier poster, that when I have converted I am only creating files that are 12KB which will not be play on either my pc or innotab (thought the innotab is recognising them). I'm not sure I am doing the passkey part correctly (I've never ripped DVDs before) as when I start the problem nothing seems to happen & the icon does not appear across the bottom of the screen - the window I get when opening the program closes after about 30 secs. Any help would be great.
@MrBeastier Are you sure you have a DVD drive? Is your computer even able to play the DVD straight from the drive using something like Windows Media Player or PowerDVD?
5 minutes after i did first one, neither program will work now. pass key just keeps running and running and once it stops Freemake doesn't recognize that i even have a DVD in drive.
I converted Tangled into innotab format for my daughter and works perfectly however everytime after this ive tried to converted something it says loading failed on the innotab itself. I havent changed the sd card or done anything differently but cant get them to work even though Tangled still works. Any suggestions
@babybaps19 Verify all the settings are correct in Freemake. Also, you could try ripping the DVD again and make sure there aren't any errors. You could also try a different SD card if you think that is the problem.
Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!!! This Innotab spend 2 months unused as I spent endless hours and nights away from my children trying to figue this out. Now, thanks to your idiot proof video, I have multiple movies on the Innotab for our trip to Florida in March!! Thanks for making me look smart!! Some movies audio is fine and some not so much..have to look at your companion videos to conqure this problem next.
You are friggin awesome man. The stupid instructions say it can only read MJPEG format, which no free converter seems to convert to. AVIs don't even show up in Learning Lodge. It may be a good idea to specify a little more clearly that you have to transfer the AVIs to the SD card directly and not use Learning Lodge at all. Also I think it would be good if it were more clear that you have to connect the card to your Innotab once to format it for the device or the folders will not be there.
@Mr3dPHD Good points. I thought about saying something about putting the SD card in the Innotab before putting videos on it. I did clarify about using the USB cable with your Innotab to copy files because when you do, you see two drives and I think people were copying files to the wrong drive. Thanks for watching!
When I clicked to convert screen says Conversion Error the program failed to create the folder.Prehaps you do not have permission to create folders. Please help
Thankyou so much for this tutorial but as a computer idiot i'm having trouble getting the dvd onto the innotab. It's showing in my video's but from there i am totally lost as to what to do! instructions for me need to be absolutly idiot proof...can you help please x
I followed your instructions step by step and got one video successfully loaded onto my son's Innotab. Now, when I try to insert the next disk to convert with the Freemake Video Converter, when I try to open the disc drive and select the video it pops my disc back out. The DVDFab Passkey does pop up when I insert the DVD into the drive from the beginning so I know that is working. I just can't figure out why its popping back out. I even tried different DVDs... HELP!!!

@travisgrindal no it wont load at all now. It says that the passkey program is reading but it goes on for like ever and ever and then when it does stop I open freemake and click on the dvd and it says there is no disc in drive E
ANy suggestions??? The explanation is great and I used it right before Christmas for one DVD and it worked. However I just tried adding a few more today and I see the dvd in the bottom right hand corner converting, and then when I go to the freemake I get an error saying Freemake converter does not recognize my DVD drive. Thanks for the great video...wish I'd seen it about 12 hours ago. I was able to transfer some home video on to the innotab for my daughter but for some reason the Freemake converter does not recognize my DVD drive. I get an error saying the specified folder does not exist.
I don't have an sd card in the innotab, should I have one in? When I connect the innotab to my laptop, it shows a G: directory but the folder is empty..?.. I have followed the steps up to this part and now I am stuck, can you help, please?..
@FloresOriginals Yeah, you need an SD card. There is only 64MB of internal memory available. It says it supports up to a 16GB SD card. I've heard people say that a 32 GB one will work but I haven't seen it work for myself yet. You can use any size but if you are going to buy one, just get the 16 GB one. You can find them for under $20 on newegg, buy, and amazon sometimes.
@mayashell I put another video out here that shows how to increase the volume. You have to use a free codec, xvid, and another program called Virtual Dub.
After trying a few different things i found on the net none of them worked, but this did. So a big thanks as this worked a treat. Sound was a bit quite but i will try whats been mention bellow and change sample rate from 22050 to original.
@KMpugless Setting the sound output to "original" didn't work for me. I found another way to do it with "Virtual Dub". I'm uploading another video that shows how to increase the volume of the videos... I had this same problem with a lot of the videos I already have on my Innotab.
A few tips after spending a few hours converting:)...... Volume too low?? Change the Sample rate from 22050 to "Original". DVD keeps ejecting?? I had to restart my PC after every DVD conversion and then it worked perfect.
Thanks travisgrindal for this wonderful helpful vid!! You rock!! :)
@mayashell I tried this and it didn't work for me. I used another program named "Virtual Dub" which increased the volume output. I'm putting another video on YouTube about how to do it.
@travisgrindal Sorry....after loading DVD to the Innotab, the volume was the same. Thanks for trying another convert program:) Can't wait to see the Youtube vid!! THX
@kafarhan Did you install the DVDFab? You could try to download a DVD ripper and copy the DVD files from the DVD and then use Freemake to convert them. That may work for you.
I'm so happy to have found this! However, I'm having an issue. I'm doing everything exactly as you are but as soon as I hit "CONVERT" in the freemake software.. it waits 25 seconds and then says it's 100% complete. My movie is located in my Video folder but it is 12 KB and no length (supposed to be an hour 48). I've tried about 10 times and it keeps doing the exact same thing. What can I do?
CANNOT thank you enough for all your Innotab videos. So so pleased, and excellent step-by-step. I'm one happy parent, thanks to you. :D Merry Christmas!
Thank you so much for this video, after many trials and errors we have successfully downloaded movies to the Innotab, just in time for Christmas!!! Countless hours have been spent LOL =) The only question I have is that it appears that there is no "icon" picture next to each video other than a gray video camera, and that the file name can not be changed without damaging the file, is this correct or am I missing something??
@RStarr831 I've been trying to figure out how to add that icon myself. I haven't figured it out yet. When I do, I'll probably post another video showing how to do so.
13. Right click and paste the data you copied from step 7 (the image thumbnail data"
14. Now your thumbnail data from your chosen image in photo.db will be the thumbnail data for your video in Videosinfo.db
Unplug USB--innotab will rescan thumbnails, and your new picture will be the thumbnail for your video. I'm not sure but it might be picky on the thumbnail dimensions.
Why does youtube limit comment size? gah! What a pain!
@DeadlyRealms What size do the picture files have to be? I saw the steps you posted on the Amazon UK website forum. I tried them and couldn't get them to work. Did you actually get them to work?
@travisgrindal Going to set it up tonight. I notice they didn't tell you to save the video db file, did you save the edited video db file? It must be saved to write the data you changed. I will let you know tonight once I set it up.
@DeadlyRealms Yes, I backed up the original to my computer and then overwrote the one on the innotab itself. Maybe the hex code isn't copying correctly?
@travisgrindal I couldn't get it to work as well, i noticed the hex code isn't copying the same either. some character just wont copy. i tried pasting the code into MS Word and it picks up a lot more characters, will try to paste them back into the DB file tonight when my son goes to sleep. He hasn't put that thing down all day, haha. Merry Xmas Travis thanks for all the help, i will keep poking at see if we can get it to work.
Thank you so much!! Very good job on your tutorial. Walked me right through it without one problem... I now have movies on InnoTab and waiting for Christmas :)
Hello I have done everything you said. It appears to start working but then as soon as I hit +DVD open my DVD drive it ejects the disc and says nothing found? I have tried multiple discs and none of them are working. My computer just ejects them everytime. Do you have any clue why or what I can do to fix this. I also am trying to prepare this Innotab for XMas morning. It is 5 a.m and I have been going at it for about 4 hours, I am frustrated. PLEASE help, my son will be home later today!
@Truleepeachy24 Did you install the DVDFab Passkey? It usually ejects the DVD drive when it can't read the DVD... as if it were encrypted. Make sure the DVDFab Passkey loads the DVD first.
@travisgrindal I just unistalled both and am going to start over to see if that helps. But yes I did install the Fab Passkey. Thank you I will let you know.
could use a little more help cause I still can not get the video to work on the tab. I am fine converting video and I can watch the video fine on PC but the innotab keeps telling me it can't load file HELP
Hi,since you are a computer geek can you help me PLEASE! I have tried everything, but to no avail. you can email me at ajaustin001@aol.com. My daughter wants to watch her videos but i cant make that happen. Please help. my main problem now is the volume. how do I fix that.
@neimah79 I tried Any-DVD-Converter, but how do you get it to combine VOB files from a DVD? I select the ones from the main title and then end up with a video for each VOB file.
YES!!!! Thank you SOOOOO much!!!! I've been trying to figure out how to get it to work for a week now and you're right, no one else has posted a video just for conversion to the Innotab! I've downloaded at least 10 other converters and watched and read numerous tutorials and none worked. I just uploaded Bambi and now with all our other movies, possibilities are endless....well up to 8GB I believe, but you know what I mean! Wish the Bluray would have worked in the program but oh well. :D Thanks!
After playing the movie today, the volume is really low, even on high as to when I converted some music from iTunes to mp3, the volume was normal and pretty loud on the highest setting. Is there a way to make the movies just as loud in the settings? With the mp3, I didn't have to change any of the settings to work with the Innotab.
@cortneykepesky I've used WinX DVD Ripper (not free) and it has an option to amplify the sound by 9db. I've done that and then convert that video to the Innotab with Freemake and had fair success.
@MrScarlett372 I downloaded all the software & used the same process that travisgrindal described, however I carried out an extra step. When I put a DVD in my PC I can see it's reading/de-crypting. CONNECT INNOTAB VIA USB
1. start SQLite_Database_Browser_2.0_b1.exe that you downloaded.
2. Open the innotab removable drive from my computer.
3. Navigate my computer to the LLN directory and find photo.db
4. Drag the photo.db file into Sqlite program.

5. In sqlite program, click the middle tab at the top "browse data", then change the drop down menu to photo_info
6. Locate the filename of the image you want as a thumbnail for the video, then scroll to the right until you reach the last column "thumbnail"
7. Double click the thumbnail column for the image you wish to be the thumbnail for the video, then right click and copy the data.
8. At the top menu, click "file" then close the database.

9. Go back to the LLN folder from my computer, locate the "Videoinfo.db", and drag it into the sqlite program.
10. In the sqlite program, click the middle tab "browse data" the change the dropdown menu to "VideosInfo"
11. Find the video you need a thumbnail for, then scroll to the rightmost "thumbnail" column.
12. Double click the thumbnail column for your video and clear all the data that might be there.

Did you actually get them to work?
travisgrindal 2 months ago
@travisgrindal Going to set it up tonight. I notice they didn't tell you to save the video db file, did you save the edited video db file? It must be saved to write the data you changed. I will let you know tonight once I set it up.

@DeadlyRealms Yes, I backed up the original to my computer and then overwrote the one on the innotab itself. Maybe the hex code isn't copying correctly?
travisgrindal 2 months ago
@travisgrindal I couldn't get it to work as well, i noticed the hex code isn't copying the same either. some character just wont copy. i tried pasting the code into MS Word and it picks up a lot more characters, will try to paste them back into the DB file tonight when my son goes to sleep. He hasn't put that thing down all day, haha. Merry Xmas Travis thanks for all the help, i will keep poking at see if we can get it to work.

Truleepeachy24 2 months ago
@Truleepeachy24 Did you install the DVDFab Passkey? It usually ejects the DVD drive when it can't read the DVD... as if it were encrypted. Make sure the DVDFab Passkey loads the DVD first.
travisgrindal 2 months ago
@travisgrindal I just unistalled both and am going to start over to see if that helps. But yes I did install the Fab Passkey. Thank you I will let you know.

Any-DVD-Converter Major Geeks website :) Does all
neimah79 2 months ago
@neimah79 I tried Any-DVD-Converter, but how do you get it to combine VOB files from a DVD? I select the ones from the main title and then end up with a video for each VOB file.

MrTampaango 2 months ago
@MrTampaango I can view them as long as i don't try to skip any. If I try to skip some, it crashes Windows Media Player.

I was converting the videos right, but transferring them to the innotab wrong. Thanks so much for posting this video!

With the mp3, I didn't have to change any of the settings to work with the Innotab.
cortneykepesky 2 months ago
@cortneykepesky I've used WinX DVD Ripper (not free) and it has an option to amplify the sound by 9db. I've done that and then convert that video to the Innotab with Freemake and had fair success.
travisgrindal 2 months ago
@cortneykepesky - So you've been able to download to innotab? We're you able to also view file from your computer?
MrTampaango 2 months ago
Well, I just figured out that DVDFab Passkey is a 1 month trial then you have to pay money. Stink. Maybe I can find a different free one.
