  • Wow the crowd does grow a lot over that 8 minutes...moths trapped in a lampshade, somewhere within.

  • the guy at 5:22 lookd the guitarist and said "WTF!"

Today Morello is a genius! LOL

  • i bet after the show Zack was like fuck that crowd

  • thanks for the uploads! i would've shit my pants to have heard this live, killing in the name of just carries so much weight for rage in the present day, and take the power back, WHATT! they fucking destroyed the stage!! i hate the people just walking by, how can you even walk past the solo at 5:25 ?? TOM IS FUCKING SHREDDING!

  • They sound so tight even back then..

  • no where near as good without toms digitech, but still the fuckin best band ever

  • Nearly everyone is in a plain white shirt. What is this place?

  • @Robinhoodarch its called the 90's

  • pity there were no HD cameras, widely available today, ah

  • I was at this show. They blew my mind. This vid shows me walking by and then a few of the others it show the back of my head. I wish I had a cam at that time, this was history in the making.

  • @TheHairyBerries holy shit man u are so lucky

  • he got some moves from 5:41 to 5:52

  • WARNING: 3:00 CONTAINS EXTREMELY FUNKY DANCING.

  • Wasn't their first show in a friend's living room in Orange County?

  • @NebraskAlaska your right

  • @NebraskAlaska this is their first public performance

  • @NebraskAlaska yep thats the first thing I said when I seen this...

  • People walking there didn't imagine about these riffs gonna convert so famous in all the world!!!

  • se le agredece los videos desde chile..rarisimo total..y buenisimos

  • nobody even realizes thy're witnessing the birth of a revolution!

  • anyone want this demo tape? go to /watch?v=Rsknrk3fDpo

  • its so rage. you can tell by he guitar. totally tom morello you rtard

  • Maybe buying that actual record could solve your problem.

  • crowd gradually becomes bigger as ttpb goes on

  • alright now i see it ok it's them i can tell also cause Zack's voice it's definitely them and the moves from Tom i see it now

  • it sounds exactly like rage but just my opinon the camera is kinda crappy and i know it's 1991 but i want proof that it's rage against the machine

  • @GIAMBIBROTHERS2 Aaaaaaaaand you can notice the guitar of Tom Morello a bit if you look close enough, his blue "Arm the homeless" guitar and his black-white guitar he uses too.

Sorry for my english, I'm german. xD

  • lol u can tell it's tom just by how high his guitar is lol and his stance.

  • kakvi carevi

  • what a solo!

  • the chick in the white shirt walking in at 0:12 could possibly very well be the first ever FAN of rage against the machine

  • WOW! :)

  • i hate how they are laughing

  • haha i guess they had to start somewhere..i bet those ppl regret walking off now tho haha

  • lol:D

  • no one says "Common" like Zack !

  • Except maybe Australian Tennis Player Leyton Hewitt :-p cmooooooonnnnn

  • hah.. I here you ;) his great! xD

  • it blows that when they started killing in the name of people stuck around to jam, yet as soon as take the power back starts they just fucken walk off as if it does not carry the same message, fuck them!!!

  • Did anything really sound like this in 1991?

  • that's awesome. thanks for sharing

can't beleive im seeing rage with no crowd lol. These days they sell out the biggest arenas in minutes! lol

  • this the best old school video i ve have heard, but whats up with the Mc Hammer dance¡

  • hahahaha

  • At 3:50 the dude in the crow is totally saying "I totally just blew a load in my pants"

  • the title confused me lol

  • The rhythm of the vocals from 3:40 - 3:42 is relentless.

The people at that gig didn't know that they were pretty much listening to the start of a gener called rap metal and to this day still the best rap metal band.

  • no, i bet they were thinking "lets see what they guy is so angry about"

  • who knew id be listening to this song in school and getting a detention for singing thw student vers out loud worth i though rage ftw

  • you are indescribably fucking awesome. if i was there with you we'd have the fucking school in a riot

  • recently a school i moved from had a riot coz there classes were gonna be rearranged and i was like darn if i was there... :(

  • and thank you very mch

  • this is actually not there first show ever.

i heard it was in somebody's basement.

    but u gotta love rage

  • theres a video also @ a Shop!

  • GOD! SO NEAR RATM AND FOR FREE!

  • wow people seemed to care less back then when they were starting..but now look at the billions of rage loyalists

  • oh my god... it's kind of sad at 7:38 or so when Zack talks about "putting your hands in the air", like, one chick actually follows him. how odd that in a year he could get 20,000 people following his every word and movement.

  • this is the best version I've found - so simple and unassuming and pretty good too.

  • there's people walking by not knowing that they will be selling out large stadiums in the future.

  • I KNOW!!!!!!...IT'S FREAKIN CRAZY....

I was just discussing how now days people who don't even like rage would still be trying to get close to the stage..

  • The lyrics at the end (last verse) is a little different than on the album...lol

  • i wonder if 'killing in the name' was a separate song then? of if it was just the intro into 'take the power back'? these ppl dont know what they where seeing the begining of.....

  • i think it was just a jam song.....you know....a little something for the band to play for the crowd...

  • sick.

  • wrong title...its killing in the name of.

    wish i was there ~_~

  • lol, it is just 3 minutes of killin in the name of.. then it is take the power back

  • sorry, my bad OTL

this went straight to my favs ^__^

  • anyway, the song is killing in the name

  • damn, you gave 4 thumbs down, ya need punched in the facial area..whatcha bitchin bout?

  • what... do you speak human?

  • i love these Etricks to avoid the issue. either make fun of grammar or spelling cuz you aint got a real answer. just say why ya said this sux!

    do

    you

    understand?

  • i never said this sucks you idiot...

  • Nice insult how long did it take to think that one up?

  • If you listen through the hole video, you notes that "take the power" is there :)

  • Oh, to only have been there that day.

  • so energetic zach

  • I feel bad for zack he's so hyped and he's dancing around and nobody is feeling him lol.

  • RageAgainstIraq - your account has been suspended. If u have a new one please send me a PM, there are some questions I'd like to ask you. I'd really appreciate it, if you could. Thanks

  • that was just the beginning retard

  • begining of what? That's definitely killing in the name

  • watch the whole thing dumbass just the beginning is killing in the name then they play take the power back

  • HAHA whoops my bad

  • lol, it even says in the video description.

  • that´s sooo cool, i can´t describe, they were genius

  • Holy f-ing shit. This is insane. Zack is simply...what can one say. This is brilliant.

  • 1st concert... niiice....

  • haha, zach is proper hip hop there isnt he?

  • how the fuck can you sit there and talk EVEN when tom starts his solo

  • does anyone know the lyrics that a different in take the power back???? cos it sounded fucking awesome.

  • I believe they're the same

  • really??? thort there was a whole new verse

  • Yeah, they're different.

  • but does anyone know them???

  • lol i don't think so...its even earlier then their first album came off...

  • where abouts? Ill check again.

  • great vid.. history in the making

  • jesus christ, those bastards didn't knew the luck they were having in that moment...

  • i know... wtf? lol

  • Lol that so funny how here so many fuckin people jus walk by and ignore em not even knowing who they were at the time. Imagine them playin a show like that now.

  • dude thats exactly what ive been saying but you expressed it perfectly!

lol..i wonder if these ppl remember that they saw rage tho or it was just some band?

  • I cant believe someone got some actual footage of rage just starting. If I didn't know any better I would have thought this was a cover. This is some of the best stuff on youtube!

  • the way zach dances when take the power bacl kicks in is just great!

  • its so real aye, like, yu can tell he's fully in the moment and he's not faking. noone else can match him. legend!

  • can you please post Bullet in the Head, Know your enemy, township rebellion, and/or Freedom from this show.

  • I LOVE Killing in the Name as an instrumental. Not to mention the sickest bass lick in music history.

This video is wild, thanks for sharing it.

  • Watching this video is a trip... Watching all these people walk by, not even realziing what they're witnessing! :)

  • You're so right! I was thinking the exact same thing.

  • at 5:38, the guy right in front of Zack and the frontmost towards the stage appears to fall down, that is me screwing aound and trying to trip him. he heloped me up. I didnt realize I was being filmed though then he helps me up. College days are fun. His name is Rob Henneway, I actually still keep in touch with him ocasionaly. If you want somebody who watched the whole show spot him right there. Now him right there he talked about rage a year aftr this gig occured. He was stunned by this show

  • man I love zack's dancing at 02:59

  • cheers for posting all these vids bro they're mean

  • I was dancing both inside and out. They were good. i was bobbing my head all around campus. i remember that. I just wasn't watching them intently. They nwere still good though. I had a girlfriend, a job, and the weekend right ahead of me though and I was 19.

While Im calmed down now and just want to enjoy music for music, I used to have a busy schedule and had a lot of energy I couldnt just sit there. have I answered your question

  • lol yeah you have..seems mad long ago for you, i wasn't even born until a year later

  • lol passing by and not listening

  • dang man tom shreds

  • He's Tom Morello. of course he shreds

  • love the 2 at the front who are the only ones to dance (7:47)...simply awesome song/video.

  • XD Makes me happy

  • why were the 90's so good?

  • because in 2000+ we have no music industry and kids with talent are forced to stay in school.

  • agree with me: everything that comes out today sucks so your absolutely right

its all emofags and rap shit

  • I love you JohntheVault.

    So true.

  • you wouldnt have RATM w/o rap. emo sucks, rap doesn't, I started listening to Run-DMC when I was 13 and fell in love with rap through my college years. i was 19, 20 in 2 weeks at this time, damn was it a good time.

  • the rap i mean is todays rap, i used to love rundmc when i was around the same age like 3-4 years ago lol, but todays rap is just pathetic

  • I remember going to lunch one day this is right after my Chemistry course and Rob comes up to me and spends the whole freakin lunch period talking about the show. Now this is about summer 92

  • lol be glad, you got to witness history

  • That doesn;t lie. it's about being at the right place at the right time. hell, i didn;t even want to got to this college. i was trying to make it big as the singer of a qrock band myself, but after our drummer left, I said what the hell let's try college. we played one gig at a local club.

  • haha talk about being there at the right time..just what made ratm come to this college?

  • Hoenstly dude no idea. I dont know if they were desperate for a gig or if 1/4 of the band some people there but Im at lunch and as the lady says at the beginning of the "killing in the Name" video says "up next is RATM" i say let's check these guys out. I never knew who the hell that chick was.

  • lol if you look in most the vids, she's even dancing to it

  • Who's dancing to what?

  • that girl who comes up and says up next is RATM, it looks like she's in the crowd for some songs

  • oh your back I just returned, I dont know if shes there or what

  • yeah, it looks like it, if you go to the video where she introduces RATM, it looks as if she's in the crowd dancing to it towards the middle, but anyways im off for today, talk to you on youtube later on hopefully lol

  • yeah. dreamabout rage see ya.

  • amazing i feel blessed just to have watched it i can smell the spirit of the nineties!

  • ''Throw your hands in the air!''

    *2 people go insane*

That was incredible. They were the greatest in 1991 and have still got the title.

  • I cant believe it, im on youtube internationl holy shit!!!!!!!

I was at this show with my girlfriend Denise. At the time, we both were attending CSUN.

Dammit, im ashamed to say that i was one of the many that walked by and ignored them. now they're my fav band. I come out of the bottom-middle @ 1:27 to get Denise

That day would've been better had I watched them. Im ashamed. luckily I caught them during their world tour in February, 1994 and then i saw them again on july 29, 2007 in NYC

  • I thought u were the guy that said "are these guys any good" because it looks like the same guy.

  • white shirt? lol

  • No black champion basketball shirt and long hair.

1:33- the only one hugging a girl at the bottom right corner corner.

    Great live act!

    correction:

I saw them in 1991, 1994 (woyuld've been 1993, but I was broke and working at Taco bell at the time), and 2007

  • ah i see, what were you thinking back then?!?!? lol

  • What was I thinking then when?

at csun @ THIS show. or just in general being 19

  • wow... tom's first rage solo was one in a kind.

    awesome vid by the way

  • Seriously, all those people walking past, are they deaf? can they not hear?

it is so awesome to see that rage were as funky back at the start as they are today, i cant wait to see them live this summer!

  • I bet all of those people walking by wished that they would've stayed to watch what was to become one of the biggest bands of the 1990's

  • i go to that school, too bad cool bands like rage dont play there anymore. i met zack and his GF at rock the bells in SF, real nice people.

  • wow man this is so fukn vintage shit.

i wish i was there n new wat i knw now bout them. woulda got to talk 2 zack n that.

    i love rageeee yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

lol killn in da name has no lyrics

  • O_o lol!

  • That is one of the greatest things ive ever seen

  • i actually like take the power back at a slower tempo

  • its funny how everyone is just walking past them not giving a rats ass about them...little do they know they will be a big band!

  • you must mean the biggest band ever..

  • epic

    peace

  • Completely awesome.

  • 1991, tehy didnt even hit the set yet or have a record. I wonder if they had lyrics for KIT at the time?

  • HA!I was seven when they performed this

  • i wasnt born, shame, cuz i fucking love them:)

  • i bet every person that walked past RATM are saying now "yeah, ive seen one of the first RATM performances ever"

  • where is the crowd anyways, theres like 1 person there or two

  • lol check out that dudes sweet mullet at 2:56

  • The lyrics are so perfect for the setting. :D

  • just saying

  • does anybody notice that zack looks like flava flave.

  • yea :>

  • 1991, a very good year.

  • oh shit, soz, didnt notice there is take the power back further on

    my bad

  • so far ahead of their time

  • well this is great and all

but this wasnt their first show
