@mdharfman A mixture of hanging around an airport, educated guess, and owner's invitation after seeing how well my original came out (re: MiG-21 Workout vs. MiG-21 Flight Prep And... ).
That's how I feel when I'm in the Cessna 152! LOL jk...
I'd never be this cool!
Fantastic video, the Fishbed is a classy jet and is a firm favourite of mine (including the MiG15, MiG 17, MiG 23/27, Hawker Hunter & the Tomcat; today's warplanes don't even look half this cool!)
Hello, I have 2 questions of this Czech Mig-21, is this plane has a overall light grey colour or if this iis actually an overall silver? It looks like grey at the beginning but some how it looks like a silver from different views. Secondly, is there the Czech signs (round circle with red white and blue) at the bottom side of the main wings?
@kyffaa Yes the red white and blue circle is the sign of Czech Air Force , it looks like the new owner of this Mig left original marking but painted him with grey color , in original when this Mig was in service of the Czech Republic he has standart silver color.
Great video, very nicely done. The Mig 21 is sexy and intimidating and beautiful to look at. A true classic. The ground crew appear to be very competant and professional except that one guy had no ear protection. How can he stand the acoustic trauma?
@Jelen226 you are right this Mig is from Czech Republic, he service in our air force during years 1971-1994 in folowing squadrons 47.pzlp (12.1971) on airfield Kbely and 28.sbolp (24.5.1993) on airfield Čáslav.
awsome video, i love the MIKOYAN-GUREVICH MIG 21 its one of the jet fighters that change history of aviation, its hard to americans to accept this fact, but it was a well ingenneer disign, cheap, reliablable, and efficient, its just like a toyota jajajaja:)
Thats besides the point....if you are an aircraft enthusiast you pay respect to EVERY aircraft...no matter where it comes form......you must be an ignorant American....am I right ? no offense though....just having a guess....
i still don't clearly understand how they get a jet engine started. is there a electric motor attached to the engine that spins it up to speed before they the fuel starts combusting or something to that effect.. can someone help me out here?
@platinum014 a jet engine sucks in air then compresses it and then mixes fuel and ignites it. If want to go faster in a hurry you can ad an aft section that just dumps fuel on the existing flame aka afterburner. You need air to start a jet engine. Most jets use a seperate ground unit and send "bleed air". They also have GTC's and APU's built into airframes that are mini jet engines that start the larger ones.
i love the fuselage and the inlet cone of the mig-21 the cockpit also fits in the fuselage like a puzzle piece, I've heard that it wasn't very visible in it though.
Damn you got in the whole startup sequence! It only took about 90 seconds or so to go from engine cold to hot! Amazing what the then soviets built and its still being used to this very day! THE ONLY THING I hate about it is that you only get 200 rounds for the GSh-23L and @3,400-3,600 rounds a minute, that is barely under 4 seconds of firing! 400 rounds would be nice but other than that I LIKE IT!
The Viseo is absolutely Brilliant and for a MiG 21 lover like me I am in love with this video. This is MiG 21 Fishbed, the older one, however the MiG 21 Bison which Indian Air Force is using has got the latest gadget and improved latest radar technology, and has got BVR shooting capabilities. In Operation Red Flag held in America few months ago MiG 21 Bison performed extremely good, and they said MiG 21 Bison needs to be watched out by F16/18 Pilots. You need to watch out the MiG 21Bison cockpit
@RajputofIndia I am american and admire what the indians have done with the mig 21. It is a great aircraft and is even more of a beast now that the IAF upgraded it. It is not better than the F/A 18. But the F-16 needs to watch out for it.
This is one of the best video of MiG-21 i had ever seen. Very well framed also. Thanks a lotttttt for uploading. Now i am downloading it so as to have such precious video always with me. Atlast thanks-thanks a lot paralleler
I can only say that this is one of the best if not theee best Mig 21 video I have seen on the web, great videography, great day with A nice cloud coverage to give some volume to the picture, awsome sounds, nice follow-up on the ground crew, good interlude for the cockpit close-ups,and I also enjoyed to see briefly the Fouga Magister ...Thank you for this valuable video of one of my favorite alltime jets. Ironic that the word "experimental" has to be placarded on this well proven aircraft...
Many thanks for your comments! The owner of the aircraft really enjoyed it too and we have since captured about three minutes of aerobatics that I added to a modified version of this video; search YouTube for MiG Workout. Yep..., the beautiful clouds really framed it well.
I'll upload video of the Fouga when I see it take to the air. If interested, search YouTube for SAAB Draken Reno as well.
I am sorry for hitting poor comment thumb accidently but i am feeling sorry for this as ur comment was very good and i was going to press thumb up for it so as to appreciate it but i pressed thumb down I apologise for my mistake
Hi gmp1809, no harm done,no apology necessary in this case as I have done this sometimes in the past by mistake as well, takes a unique, well balanced, and great person to admit wrongdoing and would sure count you among my friends in everyday life, take care.
Many thanks seafuryfan, positive vibes are always welcome!
It turned out the owner of the MiG enjoyed it too! He asked if I would be interested in getting some more video and, of course, I said you bet! We met up a few weeks ago but unfortunately the plane was having some indigestion. When the plane is flying again, we'll capture and upload some more video. In the meanwhile I'm working on another unique aviation video project. Who'da thought.
I just wanted you to know that I enjoyed this vid! Thanks for letting me see my dad in this vid! He's lookin' skinny! LOL Thank you for showing this to us.

@ZVERCO666 guess I will have to google them, they seem to look very similar to to eachother. I asume that its kind of like the mig 29 and the su 27?
chaosad09 1 month ago
@chaosad09 Yes! The only thing common is simmilar looks.
ZVERCO666 1 month ago
@chaosad09 The Sukhoi has a variable-geometry wings (swing wings). There are other differences like powerplant, etc, but this is the biggest.
