I am a step mom and I totally agree with everything you said! My husband and I are in constant dialogue about his son. But our maturity and love for eachother is what keeps us sane... because kids are CRAZY anyway!
I respect you so much Shanda, you are completely right with all of it. I also think it's important that kids are given time to adjust to the new parent and that one doesn't try too hard to get the kids to like them right away. Some kids take time to adjust to changes and I think that it is ok for that to be that way...and you gotta respect them. You can't expect a kid to call a new mother mommy right away sometimes.

@aurianaserena I am so sorry to read that. I had an abusive step mother as well, and have had to really work at the healing and forgiveness. Children are so defenseless.

i am 28 male and gf is 20 female, and i passed this on to her. i have 2 children, and she has 1. and presence over presents! we talked about that in church. :) last year i worked alot of OT and spent 2k on xmas. and this year i am unemployed and i spent nothing, but i get to spend alot of time with them, and thats good enuf for me. :)

This is the MAIN reason my daughters father and I broke up! his son by another woman. I tried to talk to him about the son and he cussed me out, told me to keep his sons name out of my mouth. I felt like an island! I don't think he and I can ever truly be together because of this son. we broke up and he went right back to the boys mother. I was utterly sicken to my stomach!

The same page I love that! Becuz thats exactly what we do to my son My hubbys step son! Also bout the respspect issue thats so right! Our son treats us the same way! =) haha! Its awesome our son actually thinks my hubby is the dad!!! Thats so great! Considering our sons dad isnt in his life since he was born!!!
