I am not disputing the fact that he is very talented and nearly single handedly revitalized Kiss in 1982/1983 with his flashy guitar playing and awesome lyrics. To this day Gene and Paul say he was fired for reason's "that are legally not up for discussion". I still wonder what those exact reasons were?

I have read the court documents and from what I can make out of it, the kiss organization stiffed vinnie out of his salary from the lick it up period and since the organization didn't respond in time to certain aspects of the contract, this gave vinnie rights to royalties..gene likes to spin shit all the time..., since gene has a lot of money and knows most people won't read the court documents, he can beat most people in court..Vinnie saved gene and paul's asses and revitalized their careers
John Norum (ex-Europe) did an okay version of this on his Total Control album. Vinnie is the best though; not just a great guitarist but an outstanding songwriter (Gypsy In Your Eyes - GENIUS!) Where is he?!?!?

I know about the internal problems they have had. However, It is totally plausible that Gene and Paul did the whole "do what i say or ill fire you" bit. Mark st. John's hands were better after a few months so that was a lame reason to say he left. He and Vinnie were too good of guitarists for KISS. I love KISS but i find it to be true. That and Vinnie is the best singer they could have had and that would not sit well with paul. They wanted him to play like ace, not himself. Good on Vinnie!
Vinnie was the best thing to happen to KISS in the early 80s. He couldnt be "tamed" and "controlled" by the Simmons/Stanley show. Paul and Gene are the only members to not ever have a problem with Paul and Gene. He was too good for KISS and i'm a KISS fan. He said he didnt like their "do this or ill fire you" approach. He was a better Guitarist,Vocalist,and Writer. Gene and Paul's Egos were out of control. They made Eric suck up all the paycuts when things were going rough and he wouldnt sign.
This was the1st time the song was recorded. It was done in my store We Buy Guitar$ on West 48th street in NYC Vinny used to work for me. I played the drums and co wrote the song with Vinny Cusano. Vinny played the guitar and bass and sang Vinny credited me as a co writer for some strange reason as Ritchie Freeman. My real name is Richie Friedman. My friend Paul Stanley told me that Kiss did a version of Back on the Streets. My other friend Ace Frehley recorded the song with Frehley's comet.

Well, that shouldn't have bothered Eric cos he got to sing Black Diamond during every live Kiss show. I dont think Vinnie got to sing anything during a show so I guess it was kind of fair towards Vinnie.
But Black Diamond wasn't his song. Eric had great songs that would of made some albums better, Vinnie only worked with KISS for two albums, one of which was suppose to be Ace.
actually vinnie was promised a lead vocal on animalize before he was fired/quit. it's one of the things that pissed eric carr off... since he'd been in the band 4 years and still hadn't had a lead vocal on an album (although there's supposedly a version of carr singing under the rose).

@alisimon5 Well when I said behave himself, it was actually in response to Gene and Paul's official reasoning for Vinnie's departure. I am not disputing the fact that he is very talented and nearly single handedly revitalized Kiss in 1982/1983 with his flashy guitar playing and awesome lyrics. To this day Gene and Paul say he was fired for reason's "that are legally not up for discussion". I still wonder what those exact reasons were?

I have read the court documents and from what I can make out of it, the kiss organization stiffed vinnie out of his salary from the lick it up period and since the organization didn't respond in time to certain aspects of the contract, this gave vinnie rights to royalties..gene likes to spin shit all the time..., since gene has a lot of money and knows most people won't read the court documents, he can beat most people in court..Vinnie saved gene and paul's asses and revitalized their careers

John Norum (ex-Europe) did an okay version of this on his Total Control album. Vinnie is the best though; not just a great guitarist but an outstanding songwriter (Gypsy In Your Eyes - GENIUS!) Where is he?!?!?

I know about the internal problems they have had. However, It is totally plausible that Gene and Paul did the whole "do what i say or ill fire you" bit. Mark st. John's hands were better after a few months so that was a lame reason to say he left. He and Vinnie were too good of guitarists for KISS. I love KISS but i find it to be true. That and Vinnie is the best singer they could have had and that would not sit well with paul. They wanted him to play like ace, not himself. Good on Vinnie!

Vinnie was the best thing to happen to KISS in the early 80s. He couldnt be "tamed" and "controlled" by the Simmons/Stanley show. Paul and Gene are the only members to not ever have a problem with Paul and Gene. He was too good for KISS and i'm a KISS fan. He said he didnt like their "do this or ill fire you" approach. He was a better Guitarist,Vocalist,and Writer. Gene and Paul's Egos were out of control. They made Eric suck up all the paycuts when things were going rough and he wouldnt sign.

This was the1st time the song was recorded. It was done in my store We Buy Guitar$ on West 48th street in NYC Vinny used to work for me. I played the drums and co wrote the song with Vinny Cusano. Vinny played the guitar and bass and sang Vinny credited me as a co writer for some strange reason as Ritchie Freeman. My real name is Richie Friedman. My friend Paul Stanley told me that Kiss did a version of Back on the Streets. My other friend Ace Frehley recorded the song with Frehley's comet.

so so SO talented. really beautifully sung, Im a life long Kiss fan but come on, Vinnie took them to such a high level, such passion in his melodies and lyrics. Its a DAMN shame they cdnt work it out between each other. This wouldve been a great song for Vinnie to sing with KISS, sorry but Pauls nasal whine rasp wouldve taken out the feel...

@mrbuster1964 Yeah, it was after his wife's death that he decided to lay low and not do anything big anymore. But I think he needs to get Vinnie Vincent Invasion back together and get back to it. He's really an amazing musician, he shouldn't give up on it because of that... his wife was murdered back in 1998 I believe, it's been a long time, so um yeah he should be able to get back to being himself...

Well, that shouldn't have bothered Eric cos he got to sing Black Diamond during every live Kiss show. I dont think Vinnie got to sing anything during a show so I guess it was kind of fair towards Vinnie.

But Black Diamond wasn't his song. Eric had great songs that would of made some albums better, Vinnie only worked with KISS for two albums, one of which was suppose to be Ace.

actually vinnie was promised a lead vocal on animalize before he was fired/quit. it's one of the things that pissed eric carr off... since he'd been in the band 4 years and still hadn't had a lead vocal on an album (although there's supposedly a version of carr singing under the rose).
