This music is amazingly good or is it Björk that put the spell on us...?..She has something mesmerising the way she looks and sings...I love the Sugarcubes!
@zoofields : Fucking hell! - Now I know; - I'm an eyebrow fetishist!!
This song is hard for me to listen to, it stirs up bad bad memories in my mind.
In fall/winter 1990/91 it was on heavy rotation on MTW. It's also the time when I reached the bottom: heavily heroin addict, homeless, my family cast me out.
In this freezing cold winter I just had a friend who allowed me to stay in his living room to warm up a little and I always watched MTW. "This wasn't supposed to happen... no, this wasn't.
She is sooo cute. Every singing star nowadays all look alike with perfect bodies and fake everything. Bjork is not a supermodel, shes beautiful just the way she is!
I just looked this up after having almost forgotten about it. I had the CD back in the day but I think one of my roommate's friends stole it. Hearing it again gave me chills! I love it!
Bjork has one of the most diverse vocal ranges in pop music, loved this song back in the day and it's aged well. Streets ahead of the americanised dross u hear nowadays
Aussies please help me out, was this used for an intro song for a tv show in the 90's? I seem to remember something related to ABC or JJJ that always started with this.
@babjjb björk singing icelandic at 1:39 in hit! its: "Ég og hann - ég og hann við segjum Ég og hann - ég og hann við finnum til" i don´t understand icelandic...so no idea what it means;)
so exponentially ahead of her time. Not just this song either, when I listen to the Sugarcubes I hear a ton of other, newer bands in the music and vocal phrasing.
Remembering this video is how I ended up buying their CD, after I graduated from College! I first saw this video in high school. And I only saw PART of the video!
I love this. Seriously, love it. The video is fucking awesome, and so is the song, It's still weird for me to like it though since I usually stick to Metal and really hardcore Rock XD
I'd help ya out here chief, but it's obviously obvious :P
And the guy rapping breaks up the monotony, though he BLOWS at it, this is light years ahead of its time. Now, to get it out of my mind without a bullet.. :(
I think Einar's rap in this song is among the best things he has ever added to any Sugarcubes song, so be thankful. Although that's not saying very much.
The record label probably pressured them to add the rap since Vanilla Ice was huge when this was released. It really detracts from this great song. Just proves that the label executives shouldn't tinker with the artists.
I never really got what Benediktsson did in the sugarcubes, I feel he over shadowed bjork's vocals whenever they played live. But still I love em all!!! :P
HEY... Einar Rocks! He's the Lobster man (but not a cannibal)! He's one of the lizards of the world! No dissin' Einar dude, he's the (priceless) comic relief!
This song is awesome until that clown starts with his bullshit. Unmusical as fuck and not funny. I'm pretty sure the last thing the Bjork's music ever needed was comic relief.
I have to agree with you on that one. It works for this song I guess but usually Einar just sounds fucking horrible and brings the song down so much. Take Deus for example. AMAZING when Bjork sings it but then Einar comes in and oh my goodness he brings the song down a whole notch. I've also seen a few live Sugarcubes clips and he screams like a retard in the background of Bjork's vocals and ruins it. That just pissed me right off.
The only song I like by the Sugarcubes. One of my favorite songs ever, but it's really sad that she is talking about loosing her baby bc she had an abortion.
BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL FACE!in the 00:14¿his the face of Margrét Örnólfsdóttir the 1989-1992 keybordist of "Sugar cubes"?she is not so beauti like that makeup face¿his she or not?
