  • so... how many people have watched this video to see what a real singer can do on live tv after watching SNL on Saturday?

  • 最高

  • I LOVE this performance - and think the production (including horns) is perfect! Really looking forward to the upcoming album - hope she comes to Louisville, KY!

  • This is the best version of this song. I heard fhis song for the first time a week ago. Cannot believe that this song is not more popular. She has a fantastic voice. I can remember another artist did the late night show circuit to promote her song Chasing Pavements and it was not until a year later she promoted it again and went on SNL with Sarah Palin and the rest is history. This song is just as good. Cannot wait for her new album to come out.

  • Saw Diane about 2 yrs ago on the talk show circuit - couldn't remember her name. FINALLY found her on Youtube. What a great voice. Can't wait to catch her live.

  • Just stumbled on this - wasn't familiar with Diane Birch - really enjoying it!!! Love the groove, and those horns!

  • She is so talented. You see the duet she did of this with Darryl Hall. It's awesome.

  • A new Alicia Keys!

  • AMAZING NEW TALENT. Total throwback to the late 70's AM gold rock and she plays a Fender Rhodes!!!

  • @redcarpetnightclub Your right it does have a 70's vibe to it. Good call. I realized it on this track. Which could be why I love it so much. Hard to groove on the Letterman stage though compared to the LFDH.com version which is amazing.

  • Best version is the one from Live from Daryls House...

  • Great voice and soul. She should also do country. She would sound just as great and country would sound great too. Great package.

  • omg shes better than the record when shes live!

  • ela é diva

  • watch?v=H9lyrOETXao

This version is much better. The horns ruin this one.

  • She sounds slightly country. She's gotta watch out for that, cause I don't think that was what she was going for. lol

  • @iChoutzu It's called soul, you motherfucker. It takes you wherever it wants to.

  • @fortehlulz9999 lol I'm just saying I don't think she was going for Country.

  • Definitely a Laura Nyro influence. Especially on this song. The studio version is hauntingly Nyro-esque. She's not imitating or copying Laura. Diane is quite original and has a bit of a sensual growl. She is a great, great interpreter. She's just got that same groove that Laura Nyro mined so well years ago. Anyone who loved Laura Nyro is going to cherish Diane Birch.

  • that second verse is out of this world, amazing

  • Fresh young voice... Nice!!

  • The version from the Craig Ferguson show is much better - not overloaded with brass !!!

  • She could've done without the overkill provided in all the extra horns, but that's the price one pays for playing on Letterman; Paul and the Retouchables horning in on your act. Please excuse the bad pun.

  • @blues917 Yo I actually appreciated the horns in the performance a whole lot...my opinion though...

  • The bass is just beautiful. Great vintage vibe.

  • Listen to her with Daryl Hall...

Gawd, I love listening to this chick!

  • I luv her! and her song!

  • I'm loving the 70's sound.

  • Great song and performance.

  • Incredibly talented.

But wait...people still use myspace? :P

  • She's way better than Zooey of He and Her

  • UN GIOIELLINO! IN TUTTI I SENSI..

  • Yea!!! She's gonna be a Big Star!!! Step aside Zooey

  • I love diane birch...my favorite song is rewind.

  • She's awesome!!

  • tromebones farting - why ruin this lovely song?

  • amazing voice!

  • Its not often you get someone singing as good as this live....very talented lass!

  • way better with daryl hall at his house.

  • she's not just talented.. she's damn hot!!! oh my god I'm so in love...

  • @mizino81 My sentiments exactly!

  • @mizino81 lol dude she's not hot at all :p

  • Wow, she sounds awesome playing and singing live.

  • Wonderful!

    she is an awesome singer!

I love this song...it's a great emotion listen Diane!

  • Check out the version with Diane BIrch and Darryl Hall. She is awesome.

  • OMG the second verse in this song is OFF DA CHAIN! Love it! She's crazy talented. :)

  • I prefer this version than the album track....gorgeous voice

  • I'm shocked Letterman didn't say "Terrific perfomance"

  • love her voice~

  • She is an awesome talent!

  • Those horn players look an awful lot like the ones from Chicago. Anybody know? Besides that, this girl had BETTER be headed for Grammy-ville, or I'm gonna be really pissed next year! She's perfect in every way!

  • Diane's amazing! After a long lay-off, the re-birth of songwriting.

  • i saw her at the Nick Jonas concert tonight got an autograph to she is so sweet! and she has an amazing voice when she came on the stage and started singing i was really shocked about how amazing she was!!

  • Is she the support act of Nick Jonas?

  • yes she is the opening act!

  • Did you win passes to meet Diane or was it a public meet & greet?

  • open it waz at the Nick Jonas concert we also saw her when she waz going backstage there were a group of girls waiting next to the backstage area for people to come out

  • Oh okay, I'm going to Nick's show too that's why I was asking. Thanks :)

  • no problem have fun at Nick's show its amazing!

  • I might be in love with this live version, if I hadn't seen/heard the Craig Ferguson one, prior. Personally, I feel the extra horns are just a tad over-the-top here. I prefer the lonely haunt one single trumpet lends to this tune, as implemented on the CF version. Just my opinion.

  • She is great...obviously an up and coming talent...AND I was happy to see the old perv Letterman keep his hands off her!

  • @ChrisB176 Old perv? He's a sex machine.

  • i love it for everything s a great '70's songs delivered, or should have delivered ! rock on, diane, and give us old fogies a song we needed to hear in the first place !!!!

  • She wrote it. Although she played a version with Daryl Hall. Pretty cool--he sings about half of the song. You can view it on his website.

  • she has good teeth, and shiny hair.

    bt

  • tell me baby/why i keep holdin on/when your love is long gone

i got a good mind/so wont you tell me why/i cant say goodbye

  • Wow, what a beautiful young woman. I hope she has alot of success and can stick close to her roots.

  • I love her voice!

    Really amazing! :)

  • Didn' t Carole King sing this song 35 years ago?

  • It''s weird. She reminds me of Carole King.

  • One hit wonder in the making.. Can someone say Corrine Bailey-Rae.

  • what are you talkign about? her entire cd is a jam.

  • wow, u really are a hater.

    bt

  • yes I like her, I'll buy her cd

  • amazing i'm getting her album

  • those horns add such an incredible depth to the song. such a '70's gorgeous sound, not to mention the shades of phoebe snow, and definitely laura nyro .

  • Two words,,,,,,,Fucking amazing!!!!

  • yes! she is the next Carol King, Grat performance!

  • awesome, seen her on Craig Furguson, the nite her CD was reeased. I am from MI, so much talent comes from this state. I just watched Diane sing with Darly...on his new link...great stuff :)

  • Last time I felt like this was Laura Nyro.Great.Finally something that really sounds like music and words from the lonely heart.

  • listened to both versions ...like this one most . great stuff

  • I was in Italy and caught the performance of Diane Birch on the Letterman show. WOW !!! I was left with my mouth wide open...Great!!!! Arrangement perfect, horns divine, band tight and her vocals, stunning...I've been around and I hope she makes in the industry, we need a "class act" like Diane. Bravissima.

  • Comment removed

  • she is incredible. reminds me of Natalie Merchant another great.

  • I saw the broadcast that night, you could tell Letterman was moved by Birch's performance

  • She is the next Carole King. She totally reminds me of Carole King, Hall & Oates, Gregg Alexander (New Radicals), and Todd Rundgren.

  • Diane is amazing. With her songwriting talent, she will be around for a VERY LONG TIME.

  • did she write it? or did Hall and Oates?

    bt

  • glad this has been reposted!! the other clip was taken off! love that 'bone section!!!!! thanks for posting this!!

  • yes, differerent from the album. love both....love the horns and that trumpet. WOW'; i know i'm biased cuz i think the best music was written late sixties early seventies , but this shows that SOMEBODY can still write great music. this will stand the test of time....not like so much stuff out today...

  • Loved it , the best thing I've heard this year. Thank you.

  • finally i was loooking for this song every where!

  • that's talent right there

  • Reminds me of Carol King. Thanks for posting.

  • Wow! she changed the groove of the song a bit. Amzing!!!
