I don't think TheAshleyc89 is a "hater": Blind adoration for any artist is not healthy. Any celebrity that "made it big" got lucky to some extent, although hard work does factor into their survival in the industry. To say that the song is "catchy but not ingenious" is not a harsh stab at Swift herself.

I agree with TheAshley89: While the song is catchy and pretty (I like it, not saying I don't), but the lyrics are pretty superficial. It's a thoughtless rendering of Romeo and Juliet, with a random nod towards the Scarlet Letter which forces the listener to conjure justifications for it without legitimate cause. 90% of the teenagers who adore Swift would not bother to make meaning out of these references -- they will only connect the song to Twilight.
