YOU HAVE A SICK AS HELL RIDE!!!! GOOD JOB... UNIQUE ON EVERYTHING. I have a 1980 El Camino V6 Buick engine. Is not as sick as yours but HEY its an El Camino.
Very nice! Only slightly better than this is an early model Mustang I once saw that someone had put on a 4wd chassis. Like your Cadmino it looked so good it made me wonder why Ford never thought of a production version. Gosh, the idea of throwing bales of hay in the bed of this thing just tickles me silly!
wow i love the entire thing color and all except for the tono cover its to loose you should have a fiberglass one made that is flush with the bed sides that would look bad ass
WOW...you know a lot about cars. Ford did make 429 which was a cobra jet motor, they also made a 427 cobra jet...OHH and CHEVY also made a 427. HOW COULD THAT BE?? So, you know Caddys huh? Well, do your homework again..late 50's and pre 63 cads ran a 390.(..omg, ford had that size too!)..after 63 it was rebored and stroked and became a 429 cid and was used til 67. Then they switched to 472, 500 and yes...finally 425 in 77. Get your facts straight...I built this 429 CADILLAC motor, every inch.
@blueflamealley ford also made a 428CJ. Love them old caddys. my buddy had a 70 coupe Deville with the 472.. man, what a highway star that thing was,, kickdown to 2nd on an onramp and hold on... would loved to have seen it with lower gears.. my other buddy had a 72 eldo with the 500,, it was kinda weird seein a big old tank layin down nasty FWD rubber, lol. i had a set of 472 heads i wanted to throw on a 500, but never got around to it..nice REAL NICE ride man
simply sick. love how you added not a flower car, cuz thats what i automatically thought too! hey, didn't the speedshop on that movie " hollywood knights" have a similar rig?
Thanks bro...that was a 63....the BLUES BROTHERS had a 67, but it was atrue flower car. I wish I knew all the past of this car...I had a Cad collector tell me it was a GM prototype...who knows. I have to say though , the fit and finish on it is tight. Also, this was made out of high optioned Brougham...flower cars were ususally made from non a/c and crank window Calais models...really, I dont care, I just love the car!
Opions are like assholes...every body has one. Funny...I own several finished older cars...including a 70 SS El Camino...and this car still draws more attention. You are actually the first person ever say anything negative...which leads me to believe you prolly drive a shitbox or a mini van.
DON'T DO IT!!! That 60 Series platform is only 3 1/2" longer than the 62 Series. It wouldn't really look much different than a DeVille cnvt IMO! What u have is unique and looks well made. I would make a tailgate out of a '65-'66 trunk lid and call it good. My shop truck I made from a '68 Fury btw. It has doors from a 2dr and uses a roof from a 4dr.
I thought about the molding 2 trunk lids together and making 1 big deck lid...but the way the car is done it has an almost 2" raised reveal on top of the fender to trunk mating area made of teak to stop the water from entering the bed.
Sorry to keep re-posting but I can only get so many words/thoughts in at once. I am going to make a solid fiberglass tonnue cover that will auto raise. Seen a solid cover built on a 59 el camino last week that was sweet.
Wow, interesting. Thanks for the reply! Actually many flwr cars were built on the commercial chssis wich was even longer than the limo! All that work and you would think they would've used longer 2dr doors for a better look. Don't get me wrong it's still Awesome!!!
Funny you said that.........been thinking about putting a drop top out of a 66 on it...would really look nuts with just a windshield on that long platform. No matter what..I love the shit out of it. My shop is only 12 miles from home but still about $10 a day with these retarded gas prices. Hauls ass-eats gas.
It was neither. this was a 4 door heavily optioned Fleetwood Brougham. This was never a flower car or hearse. I am still tracking the actual history but believe it was built by a customizer and not a Coach builder.
There is no Stainless bed or drop gate like flower cars and also the rear doors have been fully molded also which they did not do to the flower cars as they used that space for storage. Also flower cars were usually made on the cheaper Calais platform. Thanks for the engine comment-it was a lot of work.
