I'm been getting really annoyed with people thinking Eddie played like shit for the reunion tour. I went to one of the concerts, he sounded great. Most Phones and cameras are not designed to be able to handle the analog to digital conversion that a concert recording demands. Hence, why every artist you hear live from a phone or camera tend to sound horrible.

No hostility to anybody, you continue to miss the point. Eddie is free to bring on-stage whoever he likes, while I have my views and have the freedom to expose them. This is not personal, it's about letting advance somebody because of blood rather then skill - and then you might be right the guy could be good but if he really is he could prove it outside VH not in daddy's band

It wasn't cool what happened to Mike, but you don't need to take it out on Wolf. Mike and Sam were on their way out since 2004. They weren't even in the band for that tour, just hired to play for a fee. Again, very lame. But Wolf is more than talented enough to be in the band. I don't like it either, but that's what we've got. Mike's doing fine in Chickenfoot, and who knows what the future holds. We do know that the new album is done, slated for release early 2012, and a tour to follow.
most 18 yr olds are still learning their craft, playing in a garage somewhere, not playing Madison Square Garden. But I guess you get to, when daddy just happens to be Eddie Van Halen.

I think it is really touching how Eddie looks after his son and includes him in his work. He obviously loves him very much and lets his son know it. To me Eddy's son could be extremely skilled anyhow if he really is then he should prove it on his own not getting on stage with one of greatest rock bands in history which, by pure coincidence, features his daddy.

Actually if you listen to Roth say in '83, compared to today, he actually sings more now, and to me sounds great. Look at the Las Vegas performance 12/07, especially "I'll Wait" great singing voice.

Problem is Roth is not Roth of 1984...his banter isn't there and he doesn't command a show like he used to. The well is dry. I appreciate what they tried to do here but a true reunion is with Anthony on bass.
M.A had his own style and killer vocals, and i agree , he isnt one you can just replace with anyone else.. i saw the tour (which was phenomenal but it looked to me as if they may have been using bass backing tracks, i was watching wolfgang play and these were songs that i know how to play and he was nowhere near the right notes half the time..so im not really sure?

@sfrenato Wolf's been playing every instrument around since he was 3. Piano, guitar, bass, drums, he's got the VH genes/gift. He'd been onstage with VH many many times over the past decade, even rescuing Ed when he was too drunk, came out and started the guitar solo for him. And he's a good singer. So you're down on him cuz he was chubby? Didn't fit your view of a rock star or something? He's already lost the weight, and will be rockin hard on the tour next year.

@LightUptheSky000 The one on his weight was a side comment. The point is that the son of a member entering the band looks like family linking counts more than skill. OK there are two brothers on stage anyhow they started together when VH were totally unknown.
To me Eddy's son could be extremely skilled anyhow if he really is then he should prove it on his own not getting on stage with one of greatest rock bands in history which, by pure coincidence, features his daddy.

Actually if you listen to Roth say in '83, compared to today, he actually sings more now, and to me sounds great. Look at the Las Vegas performance 12/07, especially "I'll Wait" great singing voice.

M.A had his own style and killer vocals, and i agree , he isnt one you can just replace with anyone else.. i saw the tour (which was phenomenal but it looked to me as if they may have been using bass backing tracks, i was watching wolfgang play and these were songs that i know how to play and he was nowhere near the right notes half the time..so im not really sure?

I've read comments on age, weight, and a few other things that have NOTHING to do with actual sound, or vibe. Watch Van Halen Live in 77-78 here, and you'll understand that time does change things. It wasn't about bein' pretty, and ring-tone tunes back then, and these human beings where there. Well, Wolfie? I don't know why he's there. I met Eddie, and in our 20 minute chat, I told him he had to get Roth back, no questions asked. He said I wasn't the only one that said this. VH=Legend and YOU=?
