yeh these are sucky, if you dont agree youre deaf lol I cant stand Bif Naked doing Nothing Else Matters yuck even though I think she rocks her cover is blah lol
Have you even heard the original version of Gimme Some Lovin? Not all metal covers are supposed to be masterpieces, so quit acting like they need to be.
He said he's doing bad metal cover songs. Suicide Silence at its best approaches something resembling something else that at one time aspired to be metal. But it is not, in itself, real metal.
isnt it all about opinions and taste? if they thought it sucked that bad they wouldn't have released it. only because you dont like it, doesnt mean others think the same.
that is why your background speaking is really unecessary. let other post their opinions here instead. but you're probably so arrogant that you wont even read this message, or care about it. same here btw.
Actually by providing vocal commentary the song falls under the legal Fair Use provision for 'commentary or criticism'. But I'll cheerfully ignore the fact that you just suggested I break the law for now. :)
If Terry Reid couldn't pull off a good cover of this song, why should these 2 bands, the first a D list band and the second a C list band think they could. Leave it where it was, back in the 60's, with a 15 year old Steve Winwood on vocal and keyboard and real musicianship that neither of these 2 bands would or will ever come close too!
Some 80's bands were actually very good, but most of them were not. For instance, early Motley Crue (Shout at the Devil era) was awesome. It was heavy, and bad ass. The solos were not overdone, and they were great.
Iron Maiden was amazing. Skid Row was awesome, and so was Dio. The 80's were a time of amazing bands, and horribly cheesy metal.
Hey BakNBlack, just a question, why don't you run the things you want to say about these bad covers in a dialogue bar underneath the pictures instead of talking through the music?
No offense but your talking distracts from the music, we cannot hear what makes it so bad in the first place.
go for a "paint it black" cover theres so many nowadays haha. I love W.A.S.P but theirs wasnt too good, theres even some very extreme bands playing it like Marduk
what about sonata arctica's fade to black cover, god i love the band, but that cover, sounds ugly
and COB's covers like final countdown, the trooper, aces high etc also sounds ugly too lol (the only one cover that i like from cob is the one from the ramones somebody put something in my drink)
Not bad...the video that is. I don't get the comparison of the Raven cover to 80's Kiss though. The GW cover sounds more like 80's Kiss except the vocals.
Raven were a pretty cool band until they signed with Atlantic...the true slayer of many 80's metal bands. "Stay Hard" wasn't too bad, but the Pack is Back was baaaddd!
Great White's biggest hit was another cover I always hated. Some of their early original material was better, at least for them.
I always liked Face the Day and Stick It, though the latter has a definite Ratt flavour to it. And of course, Rock Me was a great song. That's the difference between Great White and Quiet Riot -- QR couldn't write their way out of a paper bag. The only song they did worth a damn, Metal Health, was really just a reformulation of Def Leppard's earlier Let It Go.
'I' personally think Megadeth's covers have been damn good, doing justice to the originals, and, in some cases actually improving certain songs. Anyway, great video, BakNBlack, and nice choice in title music (with Crimson Glory's epic 'Transcendence')! "Oh, look, it's Raven and some other Metal band.. Wonder whatever happened to them.... I know RAVEN'S still around.." *LOL* Good one, bud! Enjoy the sammich, ;)
The only Megadeth cover I'm not that crazy about is Out on the Tiles. Dave & Co. do a surprisingly apt job with the main part, but when it gets to the end and they start slapping together a bunch of random Zep riffs, it really loses it for me. It's got that high school garage band feel, 'here's our medley of some of our favourite songs' and they don't really go together, you dig? They should've ended it with just the fade out. Of course, best ending for a Megadeth cover goes to Paranoid...!
I think it's a very good cover, and everything a cover should be, a more-or-less musically faithful rendition with a dash (or, in Megadeth's case,a truckload) of the band's character. That and it really rocks. It's one of my favourite covers.
They actually did a really kickass version imo. Cool vid LOL. Great White needs to stick to Led Zeppelin covers. Another awesomely bad cover they did was Substitute. >_>
I thought about putting Thunder's in here, but the more I listened to it the more I realised, yeah, it's pretty good. It didn't fit anyway, there wouldn't've been enough time. As for worst cover of The Who, hands-down, bar none, no arguments, the worst *has* to be Gorky Park's version of My Generation. I have nightmares about that cover.
Wow, stop talking.

I have to agree with you. Both of those covers were really bad xD
Especially those guitar "solos". Holy crap, they were atrocious. Honestly, your commentary was the only thing that kept me from stopping the video.

The Raven version was just heinous; and Great White did a polished, overwrought version of a song that sounds best raw.
If you're going to make a cover of a song that's cool even if it wasn't metal, then at least keep the edge that made it rock.
Good job BakNBlack
