  • lol why didnt he make an actual sling this was pretty pointless

  • this actually worked for me and i got it to throw about 60 yards :P

  • The end he grabs should be longer for better leverage and base should be weighted or staked down as it's way to light. As it was he had to step on the frame of the base while using it to keep it from tipping over. The other side lifts up and wobbles it's so light.

  • i'd bet nobody is going to try this --__--

  • geek squad

  • lube

  • see the problem with the light structure is that when a lot of weight is used the structure starts to wobble.

  • Jim Carrey!

  • is there actually a channel this comes on???

  • can you imagine rolling up to a water balloon fight with this? not only will you get raped as you set it up, but you can

t hardly aim, you can't hardly determine how far its going to go, and your going to look stupid... just throw them! or buy one of those 3 man rubber tube launchers. and yea, the lack of a counterweight makes it a catapult, but more like a man-a-pult.... fail

  • well it could be somthing fun to make and shoot

  • ohhh man wouldnt that suck to be raped while setting up a water balloon trebuchet

thats rough but its life so why not go out and build a dinkey little trebuchet

  • it doesnt look very stable...but i like the design...5 stars

  • This guy must of been high as a kite after cementing all of that ABS in a closed shop space with no respirator on! Haha. That stuff stinks.

  • Which is stronger, PVC or ABS tubing?

  • i think pvc

  • is this a tv show if so what channel?

  • My 6 year old son and I built one of these over the weekend. It was cheap and easy to put together, and we had a lot of fun doing it. It got him thinking and talking about the physics behind it which was great. No, it's not going to bring down any castle walls. We managed to launch a full soda can over 100 feet, which I thought was pretty good.

  • thats a catapult...not a trebuchet...lame one too the whole unique part of the trebuchet is the counter weight

  • Yeah true. One of the things that defines the trebuchet is it's use of a counter weight to sling it's projectile. The way you use this one is indeed much more like a mangonel.

  • you should have put a part to like ump on to launch things

  • that was ok but... it doesn't really look that portable. And why do you encourage kids to fire water ballons tennis balls and rotten fruit at their enemys you artard

  • it could be smaller, i thought it would something about as big as a fold-up chair

  • I much much prefer the copper prototype.

  • you can put a weight on it if you want

  • MEGA MEGA MEGA LAME!

  • MEGA LAME!

  • those blood were fail

  • you would be better off throwing a water balloon if youre going to use muscle power on the trebuchet instead of a counterweight

  • yeah but he cant throw it as long with his arm as with the trebuchet

  • gay

  • gay

  • that bets the purpose why dont you just put 2 25 pound weights at the end

  • i think it killed the purpose of the trebuchet for the muscle power thing.

  • yep- this thing isnt even a trebuchet... the counterweight is basically the definition of trebuchet

  • @BanzieBS yaaaaa it wouldnt be that much more hassle just to attach a cheap dumbell for metal ingot, it would look cooler and still be easy to transport.

  • nice,5/5 stars,keep going

  • Great projects! of John Park

  • why dont u just throw it

  • I think it's a great idea. The only thing I would change is to make the lever you push down on longer by about a foot. That way you would get much more leverage, and therefore, power. See how he strains to get the balloon to fly? With a longer lever, you wouldn't have to push so hard on it to throw something. And if you did really push hard, it would go farther.

  • welcome aboard the fail express have a fail time!!

  • He should have launched some fireballs.

  • YEA i agree

  • i agree

  • look at the baloon at 7:07!

  • 7:02 lol, a waterballon "check down range if it's clear" lol, the point here is to hit somebody with these. Oh btw, i can save money and throw it further by hand.

  • THAT WAS STUPIDEST THING EVER! It does not have weight? He may as well take the pvc in HIS ARMS and swing the pole to toss the balloons! It would be much more efficient.

  • no it wouldn't because of the fact that the human body is an unstable machine that even i have to bear with this guy obviously has more intelligence than you. he found a way to lug a trebuchet around in your car without having to worry about payload issues or heavy weights to mount or destroying a perfectly good golf course digging dirt to fill a box for a weight that would have to me mounted anyway. next time take EVERYTHING into consideration before you say anything please

    Bard

  • If you add a second nut you can crank the first one back a 1/8 turn or so to lock them together. That will leave the arm able to swing without worry of it coming loose.

  • hmm i agree what a elegant way of suggesting something useful

  • hey this is almost as dumb as the cat feeder!!!

  • I'm normally a fan of Make.. but this is fairly retarded.. Why wouldn't you just use a long stick with a hook on the end and throw it like lacross.

  • Ya i would have to agree with that, with out the weight its not much of a weapon for water baloons like he intended. It's more like a proof of concept

  • @martydukes the Romans thought that too. but then they thought what could kill a shit load of guys A HUGE ASS ROCK so they built the Onigar (or Trebuchet) so the same idea can follow you and your need to throw things a really far distance.

  • @martydukes like an atlatl

  • @crafty25936 those are nothing alike

  • @Midnighter169 its the same principals

  • @martydukes lol your a fag making small model catapults and using them to throw projectiles is fun.. and u cant destroy walls WITH A FUCKING LACROSS SSTICK.... and a long stick with a hook on the end and throw is like lacross... WRONG NOOB THERE ARE SLINGS FOR THROWING ROCKS...

  • should probably put some sand bags on the bottom so it doesnt lift like it did on his first throw.

  • looks like it flexes a lot when used, not very sturdy

  • wow, why would u use a miter saw, a hack saw would prolly be a lot easier

  • with a few adaptations to use a weight instead of muscle power, this would be brilliant!!

  • and to hold the thing to the ground so it dosnt tip and that will get a steadier and longer toss

  • Great tutorial :)

  • One of those things you build once and then never use.

  • yeah, thought the same

  • Great scout project, or donate yours to a local scout group, our cubbies would love this!

  • Neat!

  • I want to make the small one. :P
