I say this year is better than 2008, but thats just my opinion.

This year is better by far than last year. Last year had what: Slumdog Millionare? This year has way more experimental and avant garde films. The mainstream stuff is still bad, but the art films are phenomenally better than they were last year.

I say last year is a little better because of In Bruges, Slumdog, WALL-E, The Dark Knight, Man on Wire, Frost/Nixon, Snow Angels, Milk....

In Bruges was alright.

Slumdog is Great

Dark Knight is meh.

I haven't seen Man on Wire, but am interested.

Frost/Nixon is good

Haven't heard of Snow Angels

Want to see Milk.

2008 is way more ambitious. (500) Days of Summer, Up in the Air, and Moon are obvious choices. But other, less advertised are just as important. Flame and Citron, Anvil: The Story of Anvil, A Serious Man, The Road, The Hurt Locker, and Precious are all great films. 2007>2009>2008. Also, Dr. Parnassus isn't out yet.

Good review Blake, I agree about George Clooney, and Vera Farmiga, she was good but I didn't think her performance was award worthy. I still have to see Sherlock, Lovely Bones and Dr Parnassus before I can make my best of video. 5 STARS.
