as a mopar guy, i regret chrysler's woes. i would love to see a factory backed viper mixing it up out there but doubt that will happen. they forgot the lessons of the 70's. diamler certainly didn't help. record sales of the ram truck and 300/charger from 04-07 but no economy car worth a crap. worse they shelve the neon for that caliber embarasment. i have become a vette fan by default. good luck in 2010.
it's hard to be a fan of the 911 camp when 50% of their owners act like Rstarga.
Yeah it really sucked that audi canceled out and so did peugeot in the last minute I wanted to see audi kick there but once again. Go Audi! Will be here next year to show up the french and the acuras!
Flyin lizards are going to dominate again next year! Yeah the vettes r good but still porsche will dominate again. That was pay back for the hit jan made on the last turn.
I was a little disappointed the r15's were absent. I found out the night before the race after I was already in Monterey. The Acuras are neat, but it is a little dumb knowing that there is a faster car out there that just didn't race this year...
The 'Vette's weren't even racing the whole season. GM didn't even have a racing program the first race of the season, and for them to earn the points they did at over the half-way mark, all the world will feel the warmth of the Bumble B's excrement in 2010. P.S. Jorg has tiny balls.

Bergmeister wasnt going to let this happen to him again just like in sebring. Jan thought he could get his way through the last 10 minutes of the race but Bergmeister wasnt going to let that happen. Good job Bergmeister. Go AUDI! Will be here next year to dominate the p1 class.
the final 10 minutes were incredibly tense...what a show...i like both the flying lizard and Corvette number 3 but i thought even tho the vette was bullying its way throughout the race you shouldnt run your opponent towards the wall.
I didnt get a chance to watch that race but it was an awesome battle to the end..I heard both drivers were suspended or something..can anyone confirm this?

A clean race up to the point when the # 3 Corvette driven by Jan Magnussen decided to use an illegal move and contact to gain the lead. Magnussen should have been levied a stop and go penalty for using pit out (which is illegal) to pass the #45 Porsche 911 RSR of Joerg Bergmeister and taken out of contention completely. Laps earlier, Bergmeister flat spotted his tires avoiding contact with the #15 prototype, which braked hard and got loose coming into turn 11.

Bergmeister was the superior and more professional European driver of the two and wholeheartedly deserved the win. Yes, to the chronically ignorant and terminally uninformed, both drivers are European. Magnussen was fortunate to have placed at all. He intentionally hit Bergmeister in order to gain the advantage. If Magnussen and his fans cannot literally take the knocks, they should not throw infantile tantrums and cry foul when their dirty moves are rightly and wholeheartedly dished back.

It's funny how all of you corvette fanboys are saying how much better the vettes are. BS. The vettes were allowed to run a larger displacement engine this season since they were bumbing to GT2. Jorge just gave back what he got at Sebring. He wasn't about to allow some A-hole steal the win on the last turn of the last lap again. Porsche uber alles b!tche$.
The vette had flashed the porsche SEVERAL laps before hand to let the Porsche know that he was holding him up. Which he was. The real A-Hole is the guy (jorge) who put someone elses life in danger because he didn't want to lose a race he knew he should have.

A "stock" Z06 is about 70% of the cost of a standard 911, so you can't buy 3 Z06's for the cost of a 911, first.
After we owned a Vette (big-block modified), and then owned a 911, it was really a no-brainer. The 911 is MUCH more than the sum of it's parts, whereas, the GM product never felt like greatness, It just felt fast(like fast-food, but not really satisfying).
The latest generations of vette may be the best vettes ever, but even 3 Z06's/ZR1's don't add up to 1 911.
please stop comparing old vettes and 911s. when GM was in the muscle car wars they let the vette handling slip. the 63 Z06 was a great car, then they got side tracked. porsche has always done a great job and never strayed(except the cayan?). for the last 20 years they have both been very good. better than ferrari most of the time. for you to call the vette blue collar trash show's your misplaced arrogance. our fall away from blue collar ethics is why we are screwed up. past repeating again.
I love YouTube. That's my head wearing the black hat at the end of the race. Glad Gil pulled it off. It was close for 45 min. Too bad you didn't catch the crash with the Vette. That was dirty...
No what was dirty was the Vette using pit out to pass the RSR in the first place. Then shunting him out of the last corner. Dude in the RSR was only fighting fire with fire.
Turning a guy isn't fighting fire with fire. Its dirty and dangerous
Jan gave him a little "tap" to free him up, he didn't ram him off track or push him wide after he went under him. Honestly Jan shouldn't have been able to do it but Jorg was so tentative and hesitant under braking that Jan was able to out brake him really.
and the pass in pit out was clean? anyways even the announcers on speed said jan was going to put a fender into him on the last corner and i wouldn't have called it a little tap if you watch it he full well knew what her was doing and it was enough to almost spin the RSR out. neither of the guys acted like pro racers and what im trying to say is if your going to give hell to one guy you might as well do it to both. Bergmeister just got even and fruitpants in the Vette had to know it was coming.
Jan deserved what he got.He tried to punt Joerg out at the turn.He never in the last 10 laps had the speed to pass on the uphills or anywhere. He only was able to pass the one time by late braking and Joerg retook the lead. Then Jan cheated on the pitout road to pass.Joerg simply defended his position at the uphill and Jan didn't back off so he spun himself.Joerg put up with the same BS in 07 at Sebring and wasn't going to lose to a bully again!!!
I think you need to re-watch it because Jan was not even close to punting him. Jan actually double braked. All he did was give him a little tap. Also the Vette kept up with the RSR plenty. He was right on his ass one lap going into the cork screw before another car got in the way. Also Jan was pushed wide and got his rear wheel in the sand and still caught that POS RSR.
Its OK Jake doesn't forget, Flying Lizard better watch its ass next year, oh wait they will be too busy watching the Vettes
I watched it again and he did pop him pretty good.Joerg just managed to keep the cars rear from starting to swap.I will say he started to get an edge as the wall closed in.They both decided to play tough and Joerg got lucky.I own and track a 911 and it's a whole different beast to drive from a vette which I've driven some too.The Corvette team will be formidable next year and it will be good racing as long as ALMS keeps the decks stacked even. That's where Porsche gets screwed often in ALMS&ROLEX

GM probably won't even have funding in a few years for any sort of racing as it is hemorrhaging market share at a rate much faster than anyone expected after filing Chapter 11. Enjoy the battles while they last, as this will all soon be history.
bergmeister's full of crap, sure he bumped you in the last turn. thats what happens when you are 5 feet apart and you over brake! nice win you jerk, should be thrown out of the league!
Absolutely. That Fuckmeister reminds me of A typical euroboy, who thinks that porsches are the shit. That Vette is way faster on straights, into the corners but slower on after corners. In my opinion, vette won that race. Fuckmeister should be disqualified for the year. The vette driver is fantastic.
Racing incident my ass.. I was right there on the front straight and he intentionally drove him into the wall. I can't believe they didn't penalize Bergmeister for that...
I'm a fan of Flying Lizards and Porsche, but that was hardly a racing incident. He drove him to the wall. There's defensive driving and then there's what happened in that race.

your right, i meant the facilities and maybe putting in some runoff. the layout should never be changed:)

@kimifan06 the runoff is sufficient for MotoGP motorcycle racing

Tough break for the vette, but that 911 was a the FRONT virtually the whole race and was not about to lose to Blue-Collar garbage.
You just wanted the bully-no-brain dick to win...sorry for you it didn;t work out that way.
And BTW...take off those shades, because the future of GM ain't looking too bright...just like it's mainstream owners.

What exactly is garbage about a vette? My z06 will rape a stock 911 and for about 1/3 of what a 911 costs.
Just because it is inexpensive doesn't mean it's garbage. Easy on the personal attacks, we are talking about a race, not me.
