  • ahh the memories thanks boys

  • To set the record straight, Wiederberg was not affected by alcohol. He was retuning from spearfishing at Malibar with two mates in his volkswagen.

  • Wow thanks for the details of Noel Wiederberg's death. I was less than five at the time though I grew up in nearby Monterey, I was told only that the lead singer of the Delltones had been killed in a "horror smash" outside Millers Hotel Bay Street Bright le Sands. It was years before laws against DUI so the assumption was that alcohol was a factor. It was the stuff of local legend you could say. Were there other fatalities?

  • the guy on the right, whats his name

  • The guy on the right is Brian Perkins -

he now owns a rainforest retreat in Norhern NSW know as

The Pocket Rainforest Retreat at Billinudgel approx 15 mins north of Byron Bay trust this assists

  • @EmoChicDyingAlone do you know Brian Perkins?

  • Is it true that the lead singer was killed in a car accident?

  • The original lead singer - Noel Weiderberg - was killed in a car accident on or near General Holmes Drive, not to far from Sydney Airport I think in late 1962. He was replaced by Col Loughnan, who recorded with the group for the next few years. Their first hit with Col was the Lieber/Stoller song - "Come a little bit closer"

  • Thanks for the information. Is that him lead singing in this clip?

  • Thanks for the info, no matter how sad one. Just to correct a little misprint: Jerry Leiber and of course, Mike Stoller

    t

  • What year is this from when was there first record

  • "Come A little Bit Closer". Jan 1963.

Their first recording was 1958 or '59.

They had three big hits, this one, "Get A Little Dirt On Your Hands"(1962,)and "Hangin'Five" (1963).
