Do things like this ever make you wonder why consoles even exist? If everyone was a PC gamer, not only would technology be much farther, because there'd be a need for it, but there'd be a market for everyone. Any type of CPU/GPU/ Memory Kit/ Motherboard you need, at the click of a button (or if you actually drive to the store, opening your wallet). No exclusives. Nothing. All of those games that you know can look MUCH better would be MUCH better.

@jeffcivjeep7 I've never spent 400$ on a graphics card. Most of the games that are out right now are console ports, so they don't even need a 400$ gpu, so that point is out the window. You think that consoles don't get problem? Are you a moron? What top of the line game is so graphically powerful that I'd have to upgrade just for it? Surely not Battlefield 3 as a GTX 460 priced at 109$ could play it at 50FPS no problem on HIGH X16, in DX11, with a 99$ core i3 530.

the only problem I have with Future mark is every time something is released, it is over engineered, so that no matter what type of system you have unless its the highest end of gear, meaning only 10 or so ppl in the world would have a powerful enough bank balance can actually run these at decent frame rates, this creates such an influx of younger ppl going out buying more parts so they can have bragging rites, its stupidity. and all this program does is help the PC industry sell more gear

@seinfeld11123 Hardly, it's a benchmark o.O i still like watching these even at 15fps. If my hd5870 doesn't run it at 30fps then i'm not going out to buy another card just to do so :P however 3dmark is a lovely thing that you run when you have upgraded, like crysis. Neither of which are worth the upgrade for, but are definitely worth running after you've done one :)

It's possibly one of the best things in pc gaming, replaying older games that didn't run so well at 60fps on your new rig. .

The only people who upgrade as you suggest are the 'extreme overclockers' who dedicate themselves to those scores, but that's a tiny proportion of people, usually funded by gpu manufacturers so it's not representative. In reality, no-one has upgraded exclusively because of 3dmark (well, expcet maybe some of the first ones), 3dmark is just one of those things that gets better over time

Hm... as a layman: The lighting is fantastic and the ROVs look quite well, a little too sterile maybe. Propeller looks very tacky though. The rock formations aren't just quite there, need more detail, grittiness. I don't like the wreck parts, they seem too homogenous and look nothing like the pictures I get when I search for "underwater wreck" images (fluffy overgrowth, features usually more distinct, less brown, more green, grey and white). Water could use a few particles, bubbles. Cheers!

i have recently finished my own engine which also has a decent dof effect.

My dof can also have configurable blade shapes, but i dropped that feature to get back some horsepower.

dont worry too much... DX11 is still new and like every new version of DX it will take a year or 2 untill games will take advantage of it.

You wont notice much difference the first year(s). :)

Wow that was amazingly unimpressive!

I'm sure not much happens deep sea, but that's the most lifeless boring demo I've seen.

No turbulence from the rotors, Seaweed seems to be all magically moving in sync to a current that doesn't seem to effect anything else.

Is rendering some detailed pipes & a cylinder with advertising on it really pushing the limits?

I wouldn't waste my time with DX11 solely based on this.

Work in progress isn't an excuse either.

1. its a demo, its not complete yet, they can add your fishys later :)

2. its NOT a game, or a cut scene..... read the description.

3. your xbox 360 cannot, i repeat, CANNOT out perform a high end gaming PC

4. for the "its underwater, not enough for benchmarking" if you ever used futuremark then you'd know that they run more then 1 environment in a test.
