Commando does the most damage out of the advanced classes and has a better range + he can heal himself or allies. The Vanguard has shields to decrease the damage done, but the Commando can heal.

i got a vanguard cl43 and love it, can tank so much, am helping so many jedi out as i draw in kills and they can do more as i take damage so they get the job done, but i also run with my medic companion all the time i have heard oh your wrong alot but i don't care its what suits me. i have another trooper now which won't be vanguard as i want to taste both sides. the rule to winning is to have people who will help you and you better them.

@milldog3 You can check for yourself. When you're in-game, click Abilities up top, click the Trooper tab, and see if you have the vibrosword profession. If you do, you can. If you don't, you can't.

They mean Clone troopers, not Storm Troopers. Storm Troopers are from Episode 4 - 6 and they were for the Empire, but Clone Troopers were at Episode 2 - 3 and the Clone Wars and they were for the Republic. Clone Troopers went to the Dark side, because Palpatine commanded them to. (Palpatine had a plan and he tryed to become Senate and it worked, so he could boycot the Republic and got Anakin and the Clone Troopers at his side.)

Meet the trooper, the most over-powered player base in the game. Where in actual star wars, clones were grunts, not freaking champions. Now come on.. Knifing a sith? It is a good game, but be a bit serious here. And they make these progression trailers way better then they really are. You rarely find the good armour you see on the other pregression videos. And in no way what-so-ever is it that easy to kill anything on SW:TOR. Peace.

Look, you don't get it. The Troopers are Havoc Squad, the most powerful Troopers in the galaxy. They are not just weak troopers with a blaster rifle and some weak armour that can be destroyed with 1 hit. And to make it fun, all classes are balanced. You don't want to be a trooper if he would be as weak as Clone troopers. And you can get the armour in the progression video's, but the final armour for every (advanced) class is for lvl 50 and expensive.

@OneToothRedneck You would have to look at the talents to make sure, but there is a third talent tree that has shared abilities between both. All classes have a tree with shared abilities. So if you mess around with that tree you might find exactly what your looking for, so if you choose vanguard you don't have to be a tank if you don't want to.
