Thanks.That was close to a new reinstall of windows.I looked in many places and the solution was simple : just replace shell32.dll.Counter Strike 1.6 realistic FLT is to blame in my case.So nice and clear to browse my pc; all is cool now.Internet it's a wonderful thing.

It's simply to modify icons on all windows, all shell32 have this format: Img>Img>res>(...)...

yeah i have a problem with this file, and i do have brikopacks, but when i try to do things like update flashplayer or install certain things like cod 1.6 and 1.7 i get a shell32.dll error, but i can install other things though... so would this fix it?

you need to open it with a microangelo library program to view the icons.if you're not sure what you're doing.. i highly suggest to leave it alone

Hi, you should really watch out for your download you know. Did you checked your dll version? Its ONLY for Windows XP SP2. Those people who screwed up probably used SP3.

Your dll version:

6.0.2900.3241

Windows XP SP3 dll version:

6.0.2900.5512

Its too bad geekdoms still so G/D complex. I only want to change an icon to something fun, like a sun for a weather link. I see apps & tutorials when it ought to be as simple as going to a second folder full of downloaded icons and apply one from there. Why is it so hard all the time outside of Macdom? I use XP, but had 5 years on Macs. I was sad to leave that fun, easy OS, and I see PCs still are clunky and too complex, where theres no good reason they should be.

i really appreciate that comment, when i replaced my shell32.dll file, with replacer, it said to reboot. i did. i couldnt boot up and i had to reinstall windows losing everything. so kudos to you.

Hey mate, great tut'.. but i am still having a massive problem, (i thnk you may not be able to help me on this eiher..) well anyway, i have previously installed the "Alienware theme changer" (don't rember the name) and it changed my Icons, and all. and just a couple of months later i uninstalled it and it has messed around all my icons and stuff, i have looked all over the web to try and find a solution to this..i am wondering if you would know any way to fix this?

It could be that it changed some of the other icons hidden inside .dll files if you can find them then just google for the origional .dll and you should be able to find it. If not you will have to restore your computer to before you installed the theme changer. I have tried the alienware theme changer though and it removed all the modified icons. Are you sure you un-installed it properly?

Hey Thanks, yeah i i did uninstall it correctly, but i haddnt done something before i did it.. (needed to change the theme bak to vista) so i reinstalled Alienwear and and changed it back to vista, and now it's running again..

this is odd because when I go to my documents and go to like my vids or my pics it crashes and says send report and has that in it shell32.dll I dont get it bro odd it lets me view my files after ive restarted it agen ive rebooted my pc 7 times does the same thing over and over XD

hmmm... try replacing the .dll file again if this doesnt work restore your computer to the point before you first tried to restore the icons
