"And there's an old saying on the farm 'If it doesn't scare the cows, who cares?' Well, I don't think Timmy ever scared the cows, so who cares?"
That line was so painfully pretentious, you're in a documentary, not an actor auditioning for a role in a Tarantino film you daft prick. Get back to reality.
@revolutiongeorge: Yeah, I follow what you're saying but the fact is that some people are pretentious and that guys manner fits with the aspect of TT's lifestyle that he's describing. If you just had straightforward people describing the facts in simple terms then the account becomes a basic summary of events. I think quite a few people in the documentary are quite "odd". If you listen to what that guy says he describes TT quite accurately, even if he does so in an overblown and theatrical way.
i always hear of animals killing their young because they don't have enough food, or some other reason of survival, but this is the first time i've heard of male fathers killing their children just because they didn't want the damn kid interfering with their sex life.
funny, but this actually makes them seem more like us....lol?
I get the impression that Mr Queeny (speaking in the clip) is almost trying out for a movie role in this clip. It doesn't seem quite natural to me, the way he's speaking.
the narrator is werner herzog, the director of the film and he sounds weird or "completely made up" because hes german and his accent is a very hard one
So i don't think Timothy is a looney. I think the people who shoot the bears for this reason are looney's. And i know there are a lot of those people on this world today. It is a shame most people have more respect for material stuff that is dangerous. And they don't have any respect for animals who are dangerous.
Yes, so it's true. He was weird kinda persona. But, all what it matters that his intentions were good enough to prove to the rest of the world that he truly loves bears. And, offcourse he and his girlfriend didn't deserved to die like that. Anyway, sometimes the world needs such kind of people to get to a point in something.
I don't respect him. I have friends who are working for PETA and they know what they're doing and also they have my respect. By Tim's own words, he claimed he did not understand certain things which bummed him out. He also tells the fly to show some respect when it was on a dead fox. Look, flies are there to clean up nature's mess. Tim was no biologist, he was no scientist, and his persona was not that of a tough guy. He loved bear poop and he ended up as such. Why not look down the gun barrel?
PETA do not know what they are doing, Nickolaii. PETA is comprised of volunteers coordinated a board of directors, none of whom have a background in biology, veterinary sciences or even something as common as animal husbandry. If you were to read all of the specific subheadings of PETA's mission statement, or look into the numbers of animals that they euthanize, in questionable manners, you would see that that particular eco terrorist organization has anything but animal's best interest in mind.
That Warren Queeney is definitely an actor; what delivery... I don't know what these people (especially Herzog) found so wonderful in this Treadwell character. They presented him to me in a way that made me feel nothing but relief at the outcome.
I don't think he did much. People gave him money to fund his little trips, he didn't pay for anything himself...if you ask me it was no hardship to go camping all summer, not have to get up and go sit in some cubbyhole in an office everyday, pay your bills, deal with the rest of the grind that is life...this guy made no sacrifices.
Did he just tell the fly that landed in the dead baby fox's eye to "have some respect"? The fly wasn't doing anything that much different than the sleeping bee he was mourning. This guy didn't understand nature.
"this guy didn't understand nature" - how right you are, HE DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE - but at the moment that he realized that bear was going to kill him, I'll bet it all became horribly clear.
somewhere in one of these videos, herzog mentions that he has film of treadwell feeding the foxes - which is why they followed him around, not because they saw him as a special friend to the animals.
Jewel Palovak should've found a better filmmaker. If she truly thought he was a good director, then she must be stupid. Herzog made audiences think Tim was a nutcase, and they followed along with his message. So what if tim was a little wacko...I love that guy.
i dont really agree with you there, herzog had no influence on me. If herzog had never said a word narrating, I still woulda thought treadwell was nuts. I am not saying he didn't mean well, because it was obvious that he cared. But he did just about everything wrong that a person could do when dealing with or working with wild animals. There is no real connection between wild bears and humans, other than where we are on the food chain, which he found out the hard way
You don't know if there is a natural connection with us and wild animals. Maybe there is. God knows. Animal experts may know. And again, as I've said in MANY messages that you've replied to, he was happy to live and die like that. Deal with it. He's dead and that's that. Quit arguing and face the truth. There's nothing else to argue about because it's been FIVE YEARS! Leave me and MY opinions alone.
There's so much unintentional humor in this film:
"He could surf and go underwater and yet still that hair would hide his receding hairline. It was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen...No matter how rough the surf, you never saw Timmy's forehead. I don't know how he did that" (lol)
I went to university for 10 years to get a Phd in biology. My qualifying study for my doctorate was sent to the Canadian Government and led to the protection of 4 communties of brown bears by securing lands from development. I spend 3 of 4 seasons of every year tracking and tagging and 1 season writing reports on brown bear population, habitat, food availability, travel patterns, offspring and death numbers, hunt culls etc. That's what I do for the bear, not sing to them and feed them.
And you know so much about who I am and what I've done with my life to be qualified to make that last statement, don't you? I think that what you may be doing is projecting the fact that you've done nothing with your life onto me, as you can confirm that that is your case, and only PROJECT as to what may be mine.
Have you ever stopped to consider who the people are who actually STUDY the bear, and compile true scientific reports about them, as opposed to treating them like pets and giving people false information about them?
Bear conservation is another subject that Treadwell preached while knowing nothing about it. Bear will stop mating if they perceive their numbers to be too high, while this may not be a problem for those particular bear it becomes a problem to future bear numbers when you have huge gaps in the generations. We cull bear for their survival, we keep their numbers at a constant rate so that these gaps due to lack of mating don't occur. TT did nothing to benefit the bear, because of his ignorance.
Would you like to know the legacy of the man you love's bear? 5 of the bear that he bothered in the park, including Freckles and Mr. Chocolate, had to be put down because they were no longer afraid of humans. There is footage of TT feeding fox, something he lied about and claimed that he never did. It's estimated that at the last anniversary of his death 80% of the bears that he dealt with had been killed because they no longer possessed valuable instincts. Way to protect the bear, Treadwell.
WTH... The Grizzly Man Diaries are actually touted by animal planet as voyeuristic, as if feeding off of the most reprehensible of tragedies is somehow okay and even desirable. I suppose it's not new for animal planet, they aren't any different from all the other stations that making money off death and destruction... think After the Attack or K-9 Cops or World's Worst Venom and the list goes on and on. There's nothing sacred to the entertainment industry. The fuckin' vampires.
You do know he was EATEN don't you? Is that your idea of "Co-existing with Grizzlies"? Rofl.
All he proved was that if you screw with bears you'll get killed. The native Inuit people warned him against this and so did the Park rangers. His actions got his girlfriend killed.
Not in the slightest, If you watched the documentary at all you would have understood. The only reason he was killed was because they wouldnt let him on his flight so he went BACK to the maze to camp. A bad idea at that time in the season because HIS bears went into hibernation and different bears, weary and hungry from their journey, took their place. He even SAYS it towards the end, that its a bad idea to camp where and when he did. The bear attacked with no provocation from them, just hunger
'I can feel the poop, it just came out of her butt, I know it's weird, but I feel like I've been inside of her'
he's a nut job... whether he lived with the bears or not... whether he loved them... I haven't seen anyone that excited about poop since 2girlsONEcup....
This guy was in need of serious medical help..no rational person would beg a coyote to be their friend and then cry like he was expecting it to give him a hug or something.
Keep in mind that people are cable of the worst of things when they deem themselves "morally superior" to someone or something. That's what made it "okay" for Treadwell to do what he did in his own mind and for you to say that he deserves something terrible as punishment as well. Be wary of a person who fancies themself morally superior to others, even if that person is you. That's how we humans tend to get ourselves into the worst of situations.
Poor Timothy, so desperate for attention even when he sought to hide from people...and found an illusory kinship with bears instead. No matter how much time you spend with them or how cute the names are, they are not Disney cartoon characters, they are real big wild animals and they cannot ever be tamed, even a little bit.
Is it just me or is timmity a bit of a faq. When I heard of the movie "Grizzly Man" I thought I was going to see a strong man with a beard in jungle outfit, but instead...
psp1004, so when you heard the film was called "grizzly man" you thought you were gonna see hairy bearded man, oohhhh, right, just like the village people, right? hairy, bearded, dressed like cops or construction workers.. ohh, yeah, you r so not gay, right?
Cheers to a guy following his passion. But a little research would have been helpful. Bears are OMNIVORES they eat meat you dumbfuck. You should have OD'd instead of getting those bears who ate you shot.
For the people that say at least he died doing what he liked. You are as big an idiot as Timmy.I don't think that he was thinking..as the bones in his arm and legs split in two he was humming a happy tune and thinking..hay Im going to be eaten alive doing what I love..such as I love being eaten.
Why does everyone only post comments stating how weird he was? He was a human being and seemed like a very nice person. It is very sad that he died. At least he died doing what he loved.
Yes. Timmy has hit the point. Life means death. That's not sad and it does not suck. It has to do with evolution and it works brilliantly. Tim lives in the delusional world of the Jehowa Cult. He has no feelings for the fish but all for fox and bears. Double standards. Typical for christian born-again shit-kickers.
Well said. He was a total hypocrite. So a bumble bee dies and he almost passes out in pain and anguish, yet he watches salmon get slaughtered day after day and never bats an eye. Must be nice to live in a world of delusional fantasy.
Wow...do you know what you are saying. That is a 8ft grizzly bear...roughly 900+ pounds. I would like to see you run up to it and hit it on the nose and tell it not to eat the fish. Now Tim was a mental problem but I don't think he was that mental. Now you two on the other hand...well that is another story.Nice try though on making a poin! :D Tell me how it goes getting the fish from the bears!
You clearly have issues with reading comprehension, because not once did either of us say anything about him trying to stop the bears from eating fish. We simply pointed out the fact that he mourns a bee's death like he lost his father, yet day after day he watches bears devour salmon and could care less about the fishes well being. He's a tried and true hypocrite. Period.
I think he was pointing out the uncertainty of life in pointing out the bee's death while doing what it's extincts tell it to do, which is why it seems like a tragedy to him. I guess it's all a matter of opinion anyways how you see it. Honestly thought it seems as if almost everyone's comments I read seem as if they are completely missing the point of the movie, they are not seeing both sides of it, it's a lot easier to criticize someone in order to put yourself on a pedestal.
YOU GUYS SHOULD STOP POSTING STUFFS OF HOW FAKE EVRYONE IN THE MOVIE WERE, GET IT INTO YOUUR HEAD......WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT AND EXPRESS OURSELVES DIFFERENTLY!!!!!JUST WATCH THE DAMN VIDEO AND STOP ACTING LIKE TALENT SCOUTS.....(yawn)
Seriously, the first guy - I think his name is "Warren" seems completely fake. Of course he's acting, sad part is that everyone apparently sees right through it.
"It was flying around...Working busy as a bee...and it died, right there. Its beautiful, its sad, its tragic. I love that bee...Well the bee moved! Was it sleeping?" LMFAO!
I have to kind of lean in the direction of Herzog. Nature isn't "tragic" or "sad". That's a human distinction and human sentimentality speaking. Nature just does it's think without being pretty to humans. This guy meant well, but he was so naive.
this guy is a lunatic

For the people that say at least he died doing what he liked. You are as big an idiot as Timmy.I don't think that he was thinking..as the bones in his arm and legs split in two he was humming a happy tune and thinking..hay Im going to be eaten alive doing what I love..such as I love being eaten.

well obviously inhaling helium snaps your synapses after a certain time...

Why does everyone only post comments stating how weird he was? He was a human being and seemed like a very nice person. It is very sad that he died. At least he died doing what he loved.

WilOne52,
He got his girlfriend killed too.

He's entertaining and talented, but he's so delusional and he didn't take any safety precautions to protect him or his gf.

Is it SLEEPIN'?
ChristineDaae 4 years ago
WolYou 4 years ago
Well said. He was a total hypocrite. So a bumble bee dies and he almost passes out in pain and anguish, yet he watches salmon get slaughtered day after day and never bats an eye. Must be nice to live in a world of delusional fantasy.
springwarrior78 4 years ago 4
Wow...do you know what you are saying. That is a 8ft grizzly bear...roughly 900+ pounds. I would like to see you run up to it and hit it on the nose and tell it not to eat the fish. Now Tim was a mental problem but I don't think he was that mental. Now you two on the other hand...well that is another story.Nice try though on making a poin! :D Tell me how it goes getting the fish from the bears!
SgtHuffle 4 years ago
You clearly have issues with reading comprehension, because not once did either of us say anything about him trying to stop the bears from eating fish. We simply pointed out the fact that he mourns a bee's death like he lost his father, yet day after day he watches bears devour salmon and could care less about the fishes well being. He's a tried and true hypocrite. Period.
springwarrior78 4 years ago
Wow...just nevermind...you missed what I was saying just like I "missed" yours. Nooo, but good. Good.
SgtHuffle 4 years ago
I think he was pointing out the uncertainty of life in pointing out the bee's death while doing what it's extincts tell it to do, which is why it seems like a tragedy to him. I guess it's all a matter of opinion anyways how you see it. Honestly thought it seems as if almost everyone's comments I read seem as if they are completely missing the point of the movie, they are not seeing both sides of it, it's a lot easier to criticize someone in order to put yourself on a pedestal.

Is a fox a K-9 classification? I mean if people domesticate pit bulls or other huge dangerous dogs, why not foxes? I would kind of like to have one.

Seriously, the first guy - I think his name is "Warren" seems completely fake. Of course he's acting, sad part is that everyone apparently sees right through it.

There are people in institutions who are saner. Still I suppose its kinder than opening up with an assault rifle in a shopping mall.

"It was flying around...Working busy as a bee...and it died, right there. Its beautiful, its sad, its tragic. I love that bee...Well the bee moved! Was it sleeping?" LMFAO!
cloudgirl105 4 years ago 2
I have to kind of lean in the direction of Herzog. Nature isn't "tragic" or "sad". That's a human distinction and human sentimentality speaking. Nature just does it's think without being pretty to humans. This guy meant well, but he was so naive.
