My cousin was serving in Iraq, when his tour was done we wanted to come back to his wife and newborn baby. He was given 2 choices. One was to request his discharge in which case his commaders would not accept it and force him to serve 1 more tour. Another was to reinlist "voluntarily", collect a 5k bonus and serve one more tour. I wonder if any of the soldiers McCain saw reinlist were doing "voluntarily".

What you fail to mention is that in addition to McCain's age he smoked 2 packs a day for 25 years. His advanced age and health should be part of the debate as he a 4 time cancer survivor and a heavy smoker for more than a third of his life.

McCain won in shadyness, in the debate. His experience vs obama's forsight and wisdom = fail for mccain. As much as people don't like the picture of us negotiating with our enemies, the fact of the matter is, it's the wisest, and cheapest path to victories.
