I went here last week with my boyfriend..got the train from London to Birmingham to Danzey, walked up the road to Tanworth-In-Arden. Stayed at the Bell Inn for one night, sat & talked to Nick. It was a visit I will never, ever forget.
This is FANTASTIC!! so glad I found this!! You really did what you set out to do and this is inspirational not only regarding Nick Drake but the concept of keeping these promises we make to ourselves!
@jojonow1 Thank you & I am glad you appreciated it. The trip put a great deal into perspective for me, not only about Nick's music, but about him as a person. It's truly a magical place that is as soothing as his voice yet incredibly lonely. It's something I can't explain, you really need to feel it for yourself. Thanks again for your kind words.
I want to go, but it's not easy to figure out how to get there! I'm thinking Train from London to Solihull. But the bus service from Solihull to Tanworth isn't great. Shakespeare Express train service doesn't operate often either.
@plica06 If you go to Birmingham its only about a 20 minute ride on the Shakespeare Express but you have to request the conductor make a stop at Danzy Green. From there its a pretty short walk, 30 minutes maybe.
Tamworth-in-Arden is a lovely little village. I used to pass by there most weekends as a child. I had a friend who lived there. She was buried very close to Nick a couple of years ago.
This was wonderful and actually made me weepy. I'd love to go there.

Rumor has it that the huge tree behind Nick's gravestone wasn't there when he was buried.
Obviously, I'm joking ... but Nick was pure magic, so ...

It's between Birmingham and Stratford on the Shakespear Express. The closest stop is Danzey Green then you go on foot.
Hope you find it.

This is exquisite. The place seems just as enigmatic as Drake himself. Well not exactly, but it does approach his enigma.
