  • Music sounds like it's from Equilibrium.

  • well-it has happend---and looks like we will get the full treatment.

ndaa,,,acta---gun bann in nj---rigged elections--and big money running the show.

    We are screwed

  • The war is fought not because it must be won, but because it must be continuous. Sounds familiar.

  • What's the name of the song? 1984= the mother of all dystopias

  • Ingsoc=Illuminati

  • pick up that can

  • 1:30 that's the united states right there.... scary

  • i can't fucking find this movie anywhere. we read the book at school and it's pissing me off that i can't see the movie. what the actual fuck T__T

oh and down with big brother, of course

  • @ishouldplayzelda it is available for streeming on Netflix

  • @ckohan2 maybe i can get my friend who has an account to let me watch it

  • 2012 is a sequel to the 1984.

  • After reading the book I discovered how many things I've seen that have been influenced by it now I must watch this film!

  • Prole

  • One of the best books I've ever read. When I read it, I tried to think of how Orwell envisioned this and how eerie it must have been to create this world and read it when it was first published. I compared it to our world today and a lot of stuff is really similar (doublethink, "Big Brother", etc), but the scary thing is how many people today don't find this world all that scary.

  • Does anyone know what song plays in the recurring scene of Winston opening the door to Room 101?

  • @Gwotch The song comes from the movie " Equilibrium " with Christian Bale

  • Love this book. So glad I was introduced to it at such a young age that I am (fourteen), all thanks to my dad! Brilliant.

  • SOPA Is The Thought Police

  • @kontrahylian ACTA is the INGSOC, the greatest evil.

  • @kontrahylian plus ndaa, patriot act

  • What was written in 1948 is relevant today. Orwell sure was a visionary.

  • exactly whats going on today

  • I know age doesn't matter and all but I am 14, and my serious reading is usually Twilight and other teen romance book.I picked up this book hoping to receive a challenge and honestly twilight looks like crap compared to 1984 by George. He is brilliant !

  • @BabyZ12321 Twilight DOES NOT COMPARE to 1984.

  • @Tinafigureskater technically twilight is physically a book therefore it CAN be compared but I think its pretty evident that 1984 surpasses it immensely!!!!!!!!

  • @BabyZ12321 Hmm... I said it does not compare to 1984 psychologically speaking... 1984 is EPIC, Twilight is not.

  • @Tinafigureskater im reading ur comment but i ddn't see that but i guess its obviously implied but yeah i agree with ya there

  • Good god this gives away a lot of the plot...

  • SOPA was the cause

  • Is this a real movie? It looks like it, but I've never heard of the movie before, just the book.

  • @MegaMonkeyTrouble yes but read the book, the movie isnt that good. gets confusing in places because it misses parts out

  • If the SOPA and PIPA will pass, this is how America will look like.

  • @JuliusIsMe SOPA, ACTA and PIPA=INGSOC

  • SOPA and PIPA

    Forward this to everyone tonight!!!

    Ron Paul 2012!!

    Liberty!

  • SOPA AND PIPA

  • Remake please!!!

  • The New Order (German: Neuordnung) or the New Order of Europe (German: Neuordnung Europas) was the political order which the Nazis wanted to impose on Europe, and eventually the rest of the world, during their reign over Germany from 1933 to 1945. The establishment of the New Order was already begun long before the start of World War II, but was publicly proclaimed by Adolf Hitler in 1941:

“The year 1941 will be, I am convinced, the historical year of a great European New Order”.

    —Adolf Hitler

  • You should start interesting what is New World Order...

  • 38 members of Ingsoc dislike this video.

    Societ of Ingsoc:

    1.Big Brother

    2.Inner Party 2% of population.

    3.Outer Party.

    4.Proles 85% of population.

  • Ingsoc (Newspeak for "English Socialism") is the political ideology of the totalitarian government of Oceania in George Orwell's dystopian science fiction novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Ingsoc- English National Socialism. - English right-wing Nazism. The ultimate goal of Bush, Blair, Cameron and Harper. The ultimate evil totalitarianism.

  • Wow! they should have called it USA 2012

  • @SpecialEffectsRecord my friend, the answer to 1984 is 1776.

  • @SpecialEffectsRecord

    USA 2012 or EU 2012

  • @Lugburz6 Eu is not that bad compared to the US

  • @TheYaom EU is worse...for now.

  • @ckohan2 I don't think so... I lived in the US 17 years and now in the EU for 10 and the EU is much more free.... at least the EU is not obssesed with security and terrorism and monitoring people, installing cameras everywhere etc.

  • @TheYaom they enacted ACTA

  • @TheYaom true is lived in boston for 10 years and now in the netherlands, amsterdam (again).

Coffeshops selling weed, legal redlight districts and alot of vacation from my job and shorter workweeks.

  • @SpecialEffectsRecord The only difference is Obama who is the Big Brotha....

  • @SpecialEffectsRecord Why not everywhere 2012

  • My english class just finished reading this book i thought it was a good book it wasn't really boring but it was super great either lol

  • That was weird, in order to comment i had to put those STUPID letters in right? The letters were fackwar lol no joke

  • royal wedding)

  • We were always at war with Iraq

  • This looks Double-Plus-Un-Good

  • @rampart23 thumbs up for the reference

thumbs down for the inaccuracy of the comment

  • I don't see much difference with now, exept for the blue overalls.

  • I dont liked the book...

  • @Hamburger1993 With spelling like that, it's easy to see why.

  • @ObituaryBirthday1 haha maybe youre right, but I think animal farm was more realistic

  • The book was better.

  • It will come in with a smile not by force.

  • The National Defense Authorization Act is another big step in making this film come very much true in America. It's happening, and we're letting it.

  • its happening

  • Silly big brother.

    We all know 2+2=10

    (In base 4, I'm fine!)

  • The age of Revelations will be green, conservative, and peaceful, and Satan will take credit for it, and tell you that god is the blame for wars, and to take his(Satan's) mark, and if you dont, and you confess you are a follower of god, you will be labeled a troublemaker and imprisoned or maybe even put to death.

  • I found it humorous that poeple think satan works in the Obvious, with ugly conditions,,, Not So. Satan was the most Beautiful Angel in Heaven Till he was Cast down, and he Practices to Decieve, and he knows he cant decieve with uglyness, Satan will make his grass appear greener on his side. Satan will come as a Wolf in Sheeps Clothing!

  • @Galakrond why do you suspend you critical faculties now, why? I know thought crime exists in islam like in every religion, but why do you act according to it? of what are you afraid thinking about allah oder islam ciritcally? yes, the punishment in hell for thinking freely; I forgot it --> thought police. you are forced to love someone who you also fear. you really mean it? it is not totalitarianism? then you don't know anything about totalitarian ideologies.

  • rated R for "Really happening now"

  • orwell and huxley both discussed what future totalitarian regimes may look like before either 1984 / BNW were published. orwell envisioned a world like that depicted in 1984 ie/ stalinist and huxley thought that drugs and other methods of physiological/psychological manipulation would be more effective.

and another little interesting fact is that huxley briefly taught orwell at eton - french class as he passed through the chool for a short time

  • This fits so well together, can't wait for the new year, 2012 will be great..

    Spot the sarcasm.

  • I had stopped reading books for years, this is the first one I picked up since my 'break'. The part when Winston and Julia are discovered, and the painting falls to reveal a telescreen, sent chills down my spine like no horror movie ever could. Never again will I give up reading; literacy is liberty.

  • @stridexr I like that quote you use... Literacy is liberty..it's true in a sense....I got the book for christmas...im gonna start reading it soon.

  • we're seeing many elements of 1984 occurring in the world today, especially in the past 5 years. but the people are starting to see it and have started to stand up against the totalitarian elements; not just in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, and Wall Street, but in many other places. it's time for a true people's revolution, it's time for the people to kick some ass.

  • Is this a "new" movie remake that was released in just the past couple of years?

Or is this the same movie that was released back in the actual year 1984, which was scripted from Orwell's Book he wrote in the 40's?

  • @webmaster2850 It's the movie from 1984. He's put clips of it together, along with a perfectly suited soundtrack from Equilibrium. Needless to say, it's great.

  • @Galakrond Thanks for the info! I haven't seen that movie, but I've heard several comments about it. Guess I'm going to have to find it for rent or buy it online somewhere.

  • Want to see a real life version of "1984"? Just study North Korea.

  • NDAA is here come Jan 1st 2012...

  • @LoveSteroid he signed it? who the fuck would give a president that much power? it's unethical and evil

  • @Myytmovies 1984, here we come!

  • @LoveSteroid Obama, his new name is O'Brien

  • @Myytmovies u are insane

  • @josienevable12 how?

  • @josienevable12 O'brien was the villian in 1984. Obama=O'brien

  • Osama bin Laden: Emmanuel Goldstein

    Ministry of Love: Guantanamo Bay

  • @corydonald1 Very good comparison

  • @corydonald1 War on Terror = War with Eurasia/Eastasia.

    Spookeh ;)

  • Both Equilibrium and V for Vendetta are movies with ideas highly inspired from Orwell's final masterpiece. I recommend both of them to anybody who enjoyed the book/film.

  • what's the music called ?

  • Makes me think of North Korea.

  • People should read "Postemotional society" by Stepan Mestrovic. He writes how totalitariansm these days is emotional, suppressing anti-social emotions like anger while blowing constructive emotions like wanting people to like you, out of proportion. It's actually more effective than sealing people off factual knowledge. Once you know a forbidden fact you're awake, but when you can't feel emotion they can throw a baby under a train in front of your eyes and you won't know what's happening.

  • I think it's funny how silly people think that the world will look like 1984/the USSR/DPRK one day. Capitalist totalitarianism means that everything gets flexible, transparent, accecible, sweet, banal and useful, rather than secret and closed off as in the totalitarian regimes of the past. Those regimes actually made people independent and venomous, capitalism makes people into slaves who just need another shot of their fake happiness. There's no way out now.

  • @ElenaXVI Don't be ignorant. The NWO will also include elements from Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World". It will be a combination of Orwells' House of Horors and Huxley's utopia of unfettered indulgence.

  • @ElenaXVI Yes, freedom is slavery. I agree.

  • @shmeebegek1 If freedom is slavery, does that make slavery freedom? I don't get it.

  • @L33thalLee Now you're getting it. But only if the party says so. That's blackwhite for you.

  • @ElenaXVI well said Elena, the trick is to make people think they're free, that way they will literally give away their freedom for free...or for a new consumer good

  • @ElenaXVI wondering what you have to say now that the PIPA and SOPA acts are being pushed and how you feel about the defense bill that was signed and being pushed through.??? Still think it's all "accessible, sweet, banal and useful"?

  • @MOM1NATOR So if you don't have Wikipedia, you can't be free?

  • @ElenaXVI The idea is knowledge, where you obtain knowing things. The idea of having knowledge censored. If you're against the idea of being able to freely look something up, you are a sick person.

  • One chilling image pops into my mind when I think of big brother...Obama.

  • NewWorldOrder, BigBrother:All Seeing Eye, Illuminati

  • It's kinda happening now -_-

  • Must find a way to download.

  • 1984, the matrix, equalibrium, invasion of the body snatchers.. All the same film, powerful messages of the human psyche

  • Does the movie have sex scenes like in the book?

  • is the book similar to the movie?

  • @magg33 The movie is very good, but the book is better - as they usually are.

  • @Victord2000 Thank you! and i figured it would be because the book is really great! Would you say that the movie leaves out a lot of key events that happen in the novel?

  • @magg33 The film looks and plays a great version of the book. Visually, it leaves none of the key events out. However, as you remember from the novel, it's mostly told from Winston's point of view from recollections and thoughts. Originally, the film had far more voice over of Winston explaining the fabric of life in Oceania, however, they edited most of it out because of negative prescreenings and what you get is a lot of Winston silently staring around. Other than that, an awesome film! :)

  • I love how misunderstood this book is.

  • They were off by ≈27 years.

  • im trying to decide if i should read this book for my book assignment but i donno if the book will as interesting as the movie, often movies are better than the books to me

  • Funny, because this is almost coming to a reality here in America.. God help us

  • Seems a lot like what our future in the west is becoming...

  • trailer looks badass, im reading this book now prob gonna watch movie after it

  • fuck big brother

  • I wanted to read it in english but the copies were sold out, so I had to read the swedish one... I'm surprised that they even translated INGSOC into ENGSOSS.

  • The america with 1867 bill

  • what was the actual year? i read the book and it had said he thought it was 1984 but it was really later or something

  • National Defense Authorization Act; Sec. 1032 -- US citizens may now be indefinitely detained (if the bill is not vetoed by Obama)

  • modern China under Communist, per say.

  • @sygede you wanna go to china, its more freedom in china than in many western nations you mean like north korea. China is not what the main stream media displays it, of course not everything is free but its changing.

  • @yoyuepz first of all North Korean is worse than China, and is not a western country. However my Chinese friend mocked their country as the "West Korean" because obviously China is approaching to that direction very quickly. Meanwhile you are talking to someone that had lived in China from 10 to 18, so please and thank you, I know everything about “Freedom in China”

  • @sygede Also the USD as lost 97% of the value since 1971, when they came off the gold standard. Where as countries such as China and India are buying gold and want it to be become a gold standard currency. When that happens the yuan will be more value than the USD and the USD will be worthless due to debt to GDP. I am not FOR and AGAINST china or usa. I am in the middle, but the EUR will finish in the next few years and so will the USD. Just wait and see what I say and this is facts

  • @yoyuepz I Agree with you on EUR but not USD. You should know better that the diminishing advantage of China's cheap labor will not last forever. moreover, while we are commenting on what IS going on in China, I'd rather bravely face the truth than covered it up and framed it as a pretty history of development, which do nothing but trade off freedom and human rights for so-called econ-development that benefit more officials than any other citizens in China. Hu Jintao would be 10 times liar then

  • @yoyuepz why is China cutting off bank reserves starting Nov. 30? what's wrong with your surplus in exporting? OMG your real estate (btw only rightfully owned for 70 yrs and will be reclaimed by the government) market is shrinking and price dropped like 1/3 in Beijing! OMG Wen Zhou biz owners are fleeing to US with their money! And so is your beloved leaders' offspring! Not to mention that the country write off debts from Africa for like 20 billions while spent less than ever on social welfare.

  • @yoyuepz main stream media? you sure you are not referring to your CCTV and People's Daily?

  • @sygede Nope, I see inbetween the lines. And you have less and less freedom in the west, high oil prices, more gov intervention, higher taxes. Of course china has a long way to go before they are "free" but I look at china today in 2011 and I look at china in 1989 and 1969 so much as changed. they came out of a great depression under mao and now they desire profit. Where as the west is going back into a depression, good luck with your "freedom in china" coz all i know you a lieing.

  • @sygede yea their economy is doing well, but communism never lasts. people need freedom

  • @711DAS Communism does not necessarily correlate to a lack of freedom. Ideal, Marxist communism is way, way less authoritarian than what was implemented in China and the USSR. At the same time, however, communism is only "ideal" for industrializing countries.

  • this isn't too far off from the current state of affairs..

  • @IreneBodomChild I know I explain to people about this and about economy but everyone keeps saying "why would it affect me im sure they resolve something" and then "your paranoid freak".. these days I dont even bother explaining myself to people, because its pointless.

  • @yoyuepz explain what?

  • I think this is the NWO. If you know what does it mean write to me

  • INGSOC aka DHS welcome to 1984.

The military will soon be on the streets arresting Americans.

  • theres a lot of 70's bush in this film if you know what i mean......

  • All these big brother dystopias are always set in britain... like the americans are subliming telling us we aint free... and i dont think we are lol!!!

  • I was thinking North Korea too.

  • North Korea anyone?

  • The U.S. government got the idea for 9/11 from this book.

  • this has already begun

    Ron Paul or BUST

  • I just finished reading this book, chilling to see how George Orwell's vision is not that far off in today's society.

  • @jnctf islam is exactly the same like it is described in "1984". just replace big brother with god or allah, the party with umma or islam, and you do not have to change another word. this concept of political form exists much longer ... it isn't a new one, just everybody thinks it is because of communism and nazi germany in the last century. but this is not true. the origin of totalitarianism is in religion itself. mainly in the three monotheisms. islam-watch. org/MohdAbdullah/1984.htm

  • @venustasveritatis stop being ignorant...you shouldnt judge a religion on this...no offence

  • @Yadira1ism it's not an ordinary religion. it's an ideology. a totalitarian ideology. it's exactly the same. why are you so offended? I think you the one who's ignorant. orwell wrote that a totalitarian state is like a theocracy. "war is peace. freedom is slavery. ignorance is strength." in other words: jihad will bring peace, freedom is submission(islam), (blind) faith is strenght. f you can't see these parallels you're blind and you know nothing really about his works or about himself.

  • @venustasveritatis I'm sorry, but what kind of Islam do you know about? Because what you said is NOTHING like the Islam I know. Just because -some- countries are theocratic and are Islamic, doesn't mean that Islam is like Ingsoc. Based on your reasoning, someone could say that Catholic Christianity is like Ingsoc as well, based on the Inquisition. However, we don't, because we know that's not the case.

  • @Galakrond I think you didn't get it... religions(not just islam) are totalitarian. and theocracies are the worst of them. you want to know why? because there is no escape. you can die and leave north korea or orwell's world. but you can't do that in monotheistic religions. you can't escape. it's utter, it's complete. they've only just started with you when you'll die. the real "fun" begins at the point of death. it's the worst form of totalitarianism our species has ever invented.

  • @Galakrond /watch?v=eefS0gayKFc

  • @Yadira1ism /watch?v=qbnfskyB81M

  • @jnctf Not really, I;m inclined to think that Huxley's vision in "brave new world" is more spot-on, and the two are quite opposite

  • Sean Connery has retired and is quite ill from what I understand. Good choice though.

  • A vision of the future, if we're not careful.

  • 1:30 'where terrorism is exploited by the state': patriot act, iraq and afghanistan invasions anybody?

  • LOL. Rated R for REALLY HAPPENING NOW. LAWLAWLAWL.

  • a nation at war with eastasia? eurasia? who!? haha

  • @idiolectmang

    You must be american.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrMalikic so how is that relevant?

  • Epic book and epic movie.. And soon something like this will be our reallity.. We long ago started to heading to this kind of reality..

  • I like this movie and I love the book!

  • If they adapt this book within the next decade, they need Christopher Nolan to direct, Colin Firth to play Winston, Sean Connery as O'Brien, and Emma Watson to play Julia.

This film would work in our modern time as it can be a disturbing reminder of the way things are in our current society, and remind the people that a totalitarian world, maybe not as severe as Orwell's vision, can become a reality

And in the trailer, they should use the song Sound of Silence.

    That's my shitty opinion.
