The rule is that you cannot make contact with the ball on your opponent's side of the net unless the ball has landed on your side and spun back over (e.g. Santoro's dropshots). You can make contact on your side of the net and then reach over, which can happen if you hit a volley very close to the net and then your follow through crosses the net above the white tape. But you are never allowed to touch the net, no matter what.

and if the other player was closer to the net and the ball has a weird backspin and spin back to Dents court, thats the one and only time that the player can reach over the net to the other court to hit the ball, since he has to in order to hit nthe ball.

You are wrong; if you look at the rule book you will see there is only one time when you can reach over the net. Some people dont really care about this rule but others do. Look it up and you will see im right.
