@tomcardello This gentleman is very good and his soung and tone are totally pro...HOWEVER, he knows, as I do, his performance of this song is choppy, lacks the characteristic sustained ring that makes the song work. He's is VERY CLOSE to perfecting it. This was recording almost 5 years ago...I am sure if he has kept playing this peice it flows and sings perfectly now. If you think this is flowing, just listen to Tommy or others that have covered it. Great Job Dude, how about re-recording it?
Your guitar sounds absolutely amazing . Your rendition needs work, your missing most of what makes this song special . Practice , master it , and repost .
wow that was really good. tommy emmnuel said that what he likes most about the piece is how all the chords and single notes ring, so try not pausing anything
You shoul entitle your video Tommy's cover cuz when I saw you I thought that Tommy was playing :P But you didn't look like him I realized after a sec :))
One of the big reasons why music continues to evolve is because people take a song written by someone else and then add their own style to the song. I cannot play guitar very well(being a bass player) but in my years I have heard many good and not so good guitarists, and you my friend, are a very good guitar player.
I'll be honest... it sounds like you have taken the tabs... put a red marker pen between each fretted "chord" and then learnt that bit perfectly... what you didn't do, from the sounds of this video, is learn to merge each chord so that it flows through the rhythm nice and smooth. Basically you have the chords down but the melody is too staccato and they do not blend into each other. Just some constructive criticism that's all. Keep at it though :-)
Thanks. It's an Avalon made by the same people that made the Irish Lowden guitars. They split off and formed their own company, but the design ideas are the same.
It's over a year since I posted this tune, still a little 'fresh' from just two months of learning it (like most of my postings here), but to be honest, I don't think Tommy intended us to produce clone versions, and as 'thefouramhq' says next, it's a beautiful tune however it's played. Sorry if I offended your ears.
@JiFFicek most songs are meant to be interpreted differently for every individual. at least hes not just copying. i think tommy would love your version mate
i have never seen a identical cover to the original and i love it that people kind of take a song and manipulate it to fit how they play music it all sounds great to me
Your guitar sounds great. You are very close to the correct fingering. However, if you want it to sound like Tommy, you should play it along with the CD a few times to get the correct feel. Keep up the good work.
not bad at all! thanks for sharing! Isn't "Windy and Warm" one of the songs where you need to get your thumb independent of your fingers?? All the best for that. I look forward to hearing it soon.
though seems a little stuttered, not flowing like the composer intended (and i'm not referring to any computer glitches, i mean the chords aren't flowing, which is just a matter of practice)
although i must admit, even if it wasn't or was intended, it gives quite a different flavour to the song
Btw , your guitar looks very comfortable to play with, is it your strong finger or the action is very low. You play the song effortlessly

i really like your version of angelina .. you played it differently , especially the timing, nice.

There are so many ryhthmic mistakes, sometimes you're skipping eight-notes und the measures become uneven, its not flowing at all.
Just to play the "right" notes is not enough.

Standard tuning, low E dropped to a D, capo at the second.
I don't understand the criticisms leveled at this.
Wonderful version, perhaps a little more attack on the melody needed for me. Either way brilliant.

You did great job.Can you tell me how to tune the strings? It's not standard, right? Thanks!

Whats is perfection anyway? For Gods sake, its a beautiful tune however its played.
You did an excellent rendition of the tune. The fact that you play as well as you do deserves applause. Thanks for posting.
