  • Nice amp......no pedals required! Nice playing too.

  • I want a Soldano sooooo bad. Played on an Astroverb 2x12 and I'm hooked.

  • ?? ?? ?? Wtf? This guy was taken out of a rice field to demo an SLO100. That's just not right...get someone in there that knows this shit.

  • @PinkyWontWork youre an asshole . . .

  • @ericrodriguez87 Oh oh..I hurt someone's feelings AGAIN.

  • @PinkyWontWork hahahaha hard, but you're right bro.

  • @coxtube lol

  • I have a Slo 100. When it is turned up it has the best organic musical sound out there. But at low volume there are better amps for sure. At the right volume it has the balls!!!

  • the people that always demo amps in videos always play the most unimaginative stuff.

  • I agree never did change the tone at all ? Strange but true

  • all that knob changing, and I honestly could not hear a change in tone?.only the volume? whats up?

  • What speaker are in the cab?

  • nice stereo effect

at 3:45 footswitch engaged.. what a sound!

  • @KurtInTheDirt I stated facts I never said they sounded better than the SLO 100. Sounds like someone needs to grow up.

  • Eddie Van Halen used the Soldano in the late 80s but later on wanted more gain.

In 1991 EVH joined forces with Peavey to make the 5150 a remake of the SLO-100 with more gain and a few other things . EVH later on having the rights to the 5150 re designed it to the EVH 5150 III with three channels three modes and other features.

  • @FunnyVideoCollector Sounds like someone is quoting an advertisement here. Who do you think has more money to endorse an artist? Soldano or Peavey? This amp stomps a 5150 and then some.

  • @FunnyVideoCollector When the preamp on the SLO 100 is turned up to max, the sound becomes uncontrollably "mushy." How could you possibly add gain to that while maintaining tone quality.

  • @StratocastersRule That's the Charvel VH guitar that came out in 2004.

  • Demo starts at 2:25.

  • @TheRealRayJ lmao word

  • just got one . well worth the money sounds evil . nice ,,,,,,,,,,,

  • this sounds better than a 5150 why would Vanhalen not use this amp any more it sounds sick

  • @akaboo69 Cause he likes money! lol. mines on route! can not wait..

  • @akaboo69 1. i would say he probably didn't want to fuck up a 3,000 dollar amp. 2. I think it had a lot to do with his soloing when he switched from the old plexi's. and possibly because these aren't american made? i'm not sure though

  • @akaboo69

I dont know... but he use it on 5150 live in the late 80s.....

  • i'd pay the $4,000 just to have knobs that go to 11

  • amazing

  • have got to have one. sounds excellent, eats my messa boogie. 50 caliber.

  • Wicked amp! Excellent demo... sans bullshit just like Soldano amps!

  • does the guitar player give lessons?

  • @RockaRollaZombie He probably does if you can get to Hawaii.

  • Not a bad tone,,but soldano has never impressed me..just another over priced plain jane amp

  • who knows from what song is the first riff???

  • This guy keeps turning knobs, and very little changes until he moves the "Overdrive" knob.

  • @sminchk67 You can't hear it? That tells us more about your ears than it does about the Soldano.

  • what song is he playing throughout the vid.. atleast in the beginning?

  • great demo. very responsive amp.

  • these go to eleven

  • Is the Clean / Crunch switch footswitchable when connecting a dual footswitch or is the Decatone the only one with that option? Thanks a lot for any answers!!

  • hi what pick used in this guitar? thank's

  • So smooth, so very silky smooth.....

  • the man who plays guitar is a master.. I like his articulation, absolutely no unwanted notes, every note is perfectly controled to its end. Fantastic playing!

  • these amps are insanely versatile and sound amazing Matt Pike uses one

  • @JackRemeta He also runs the Kerry king Marshall with it

  • are you all useing humbuckers or single coils? and if your useing humbuckers how does it sound with single coils?

  • I could see Eddie using one of these..

  • @DB73093 He did on F.U.C.K.

  • @DB73093 eddie did use soldano's when his marshall starting to brake down.

his peavey 5150 is based on the soldano SLO 100

  • @bddahl The soldano and 5150 dont seem to have very much "Brown Sound" in em like a good o'le plexi though. Eddies brown sound is the most iconic tone for me.

  • how much is this amp?

  • @LIVEforEVH 3,000!!

  • @07989074102 =O

  • i need this amp! the ultimate! thats why im gonna order it ASAP!

  • THAT WILL BREAK ANY LEASE

  • 4:47 radio london in 1940 !!

  • Does it change the sound to have a different cab? or would u recommend a Soldan head and cabinet?

    thanks

  • @fattirevsbud yeah man. all cabs are pretty much made of the same wood (birch), but the speakers and slant vs straight construction matter. some guys say the sturdiness matters (like how strong and tight the wood fits together), but i don't know much there. mainly look at what speakers are inside the cabs.

  • What is the first song that i being played in the demo? I've heard it before but don't know the name.

  • is this a slo 100 with the fx loop?

  • Why do all demo recorders play the blues? No rock or metal guys ever.

  • really good reiview!

    nice job!

  • I own a new Marshall Vm 2466 complete shit!!! just look at it and it blows a tube and sounds kike crap. Marshall's not the same company it used to be. Buy soldano, bogner, diezel, etc

  • this and the jtm45....my all time favorites

  • guitar/amp/cab combination from heaven! i cant believe my ears!!!!

  • I've been looking at some half-stack amps like the JCM800 and the Soldano SLO 100. I'm aiming to get that 80's rock sound(Van Halen, Def Leppard, the great hair bands!) and also hopefully get a good blues sound for stuff like Stevie Ray Vaughan. Any tips?

  • @jakemk21 Just listen to this demo - I'd say this could get a pretty good hair metal tone. :D

  • @slysendice hahaha. I did, and it did sound really good. Its just that I wanted to get some other opinions. Thanks. :)

  • @jakemk21

I'd hold off and get the new AFD Marshall amp. That amp will kick massive ass and give you all the hair-metal tones you are after for cheaper than a SLO.

The SLO is untouchable...expensive as hell, but worth it.

If you need an amp right now that doesn't cost close to $4,000.00,try out the new Peavey 6534 amp...it's basically a 6505 with EL34 tubes like in most Marshalls.

  • @TimeLordGuitar Thank you for the suggestions. I have heard about the AFD and 6534, but just never listened to them much. But thanks for telling me about them, I'll definetely check them out.

  • @TimeLordGuitar I've been following the AFD100 since the website started. I was about to put a deposit down on the only one my local guitar shop will be getting, and sell my JCM 800. But then I heard the demo video, and honestly, it's all a bunch of hype. It sounds like a Mesa Boogie and it doesn't nail the AFD tone. Slash has so much signature shit out now it's ridiculous. The 2555 SL was great, but now Marshall knows they can just slap Slash's name on something and people will think it rules.

  • @mattstank

Well- you have the (fortunate) option of waiting until your local store gets one in stock and playing it in person. The clips of Slash playing the AFD prototype sound great to me...far better than anything new Marshall has made in the last three decades. (Of course- the production model may end be being junk.) Marshall lovers tend to gravitate towards David Friedman,Mojave,Elmwood and Splawn amps these days for great "hot-rodded Marshall tone."

  • @TimeLordGuitar Are you talking about the video of Slash playing it onstage at the soundcheck? I think it's called "Soundcheck at Bataclan, Paris." Yes, the amp sounded great there and we all thought on afd100.com that that was the finished product. But Slash said it sounded too aggresive so they changed it again. And apparentely the finished product is that video of the guy playing it. Slash's guitar tone has changed, and I think he just wanted Marshall to make an amp that sounded good for him.

  • @mattstank

Yeah- In the Paris soundcheck clip it's Slash playing on a stage and being recorded on a camera with a condenser microphone. The clip with the Marshall guy,in comparison, is an "amp marketing guy" (not an influential pro rock guitarist) playing on a cab that is close miked with what appears to be a dynamic mic. There are several factors to take into consideration. I bet the Marshall AFD amp will kick ass. If it costs $2,000.00,however,you may as well get a Soldano Hot Rod 50.

  • Best tone I've ever heard at 4:28

  • evil shit,it takes just a week to find all the sounds in it.....impressive,very.Best tone ever heard with bogner XTS,brunetti 059,masotti x100m n jcm800.Imho,better than diezel stuff.

  • @mentoneman if you type "&fmt=18" (or you can change the 18 to a 22) it will become stereo :P

  • can you play heavier stuff with the soldano? i haven't seen any video from the soldano with metal

  • Those type of riffs sound awful with a humbucker through a closed back cab. So puny and nasally. I don't see many playing that type of guitar/rig is going to be wanting to play that. It's like demoing a corvette on off road ability!

Overdrive sounded great and that demo was much better.

  • isn't this the amp that mesa copied?

  • @jarrus464 No, Peavey based the 5150/5150II/6505/6505+ on the Soldano SLO100.

  • @jarrus464

Yes. The first Mesa Rectifiers were based on the SLO circuit. Later Rectifiers deviated from the SLO circuit. This is why the early Rectifiers are often sought after by collectors.

  • @TimeLordGuitar Thought so, thanks for verifying that for me

  • Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?

  • I wish you make a video of suhr pt100 or diezel vh4. mark v.

  • Killer playing on this one, this is how to demo an amp!

  • I see you turning knobs but they're not doing anything

  • I found this amp looking for jun senoue's eq settings.....

  • Do you think the Soldano SLO would pair well with an Orange PPC412 cab? I play a Gibson Explorer loaded with Gibson 57 Classics. Thanks for any opinions.

  • What song starts being played at around 3:48?

  • @copilottheband i don't know

  • @orlyorlywtf Well, I was really hoping to hear from the uploaded, clearly... ;)

  • once again, its that van halen?

  • awsome vid!

  • whats the song at 3:48 ?

  • @SlashLesPaul321 Van Halen - Somebody get me a doctor.

    Awesome song

  • marvellous

  • Overdrive goes to 11!!!!!

one of the best sounding amp!!!!

  • I've got it bad, got it bad, got it bad, I'm hot for teacher!

Very good tone, but I wonder if it can really keep up with the high gain amps.

  • @RockaRollaZombie Without a doubt.

  • l'ampli piu bello e di qualita della storia del rock sentire per credere

  • l'ampli piu bello e di qualita della storia del rock sentire per credere

  • Why do people always bothering mixing heads with mismatched cabs? The engineering actually starts with the cab and not the head unit..I can understand art and expression, but if you're that unhappychances are you will stay searching for years like many aged players do lol

  • @AnathemusVideos so are you saying that this head through a 1972 1960a cab loaded with 25W Rolas greenbacks wouldnt sound amazing?

  • One hundred percent. If you're that deep into thinking tone is worth it than you're not using it the way a professional would. If you wanted that type of sound than why wouldn't you go with the one that is recognized and search for or has preserved it's space in history as a great machine? It's like saying I'm going to go buy a bmw m3 and than putting a 427 ls7 motor into it..

  • somebody call me a docta!! great review guys. need more of a high gain tone too for the review

  • FUCKING ..something between 2000 / 3000 euro's ..that how much this beautifull machine (SLO-100) costs here in my country...DAMM it.

    I WANT IT!!

  • wat was the song after pride and joy?

  • @TheSv696

Somebody get me a docter, off of Van Halen II

  • Excellent demo! Thanks for not wasting our time with a bunch of pointless yapping. Instead we really got to hear the amp and all it can do.

  • Yeah this really was a great demo and the type I wish there were more of ha

  • how bridge pickups do you use in this guitar?

  • What kind of power tubes does SLO 100 use, anybody? If you were playin an American Strat which would you pick. Soldano, Fryette, Engl, Marshall, Rivera. I usually play in a hard rock band. Been makin do with Behringer solid state piece of....

  • id either go fryette or rivera. but thats just me. its all taste. i think if i were in your situation id go with the fryette pitbull

  • Maximum duty5881 power tube

    12ax7 preamp tubes x 4

  • what funk riff is that?!

  • These guys are as amazing as the amp itself. Nice tone demonstration. I like the amp. I don't know if I should go Splawn, Bugera, Deizel or Soldano. I like it, apb

  • @aaronbergAPB soldano for sure!!!

  • Thanx much IMSOSIC. I actually prefer Soldano to many others already. Somethin' in the spirit or personality of the sound. It has girth, sheen, and bite to it. I will need a solid touring rig and Soldano may be the one. It suits my style more than any other amp. Cheers, apb

  • Definitely Soldano, but Deizel would be my second choice out of those four brands.

  • All of my presets I use for recording internally are Soldano models, so what better than to have the real amp. Hehe, Thanx, I am going Soldano.

  • any mods on it or slo standard?

  • @bailey12444 Standard

  • Soldano, in my opinion, has hands down the most natural, tight, harmonic crunch out there

  • @mcurtgolfer They better for the money!

  • @mcurtgolfer u said what i been trying to say bout the soldano slo.but does ithave high gain for metal better than a mesa dualv recto .

  • nice evh riffing there

  • also i ran out of characters to say that, when you are placing an order for one, you have the option for changing the exterior to annnyyy material you want, crocodile skin, furr, shagpile carpet, carbon fibre like on supercars anything!

    i've played a white fluffy one :)

  • soo many guitarists have these babies hidden under the stage, as for it being based on marshall circuitry that's wrong. the maker of soldano amps (as they are built by hand 1 at a time) tweaked marshall amps for a great deal of guitarists.

he got fed up making next to no money so he made his own and each one only goes through 4 people before it gets to you, maker, tester, shipping, recieving

he didnt play much there but it's more depthy overdrives are FUCKING BRUTAL! the only amp you need

  • Can somebody tell that guitar guy to give me my shoes back ?

  • thats Ed Yoon from Suhr Guitars hes a great guy

  • Great Vid! What kind of video editing software do you use?

  • I would like to know what kind of speakers?

  • i believe they were the diezel spec'ed v30s

  • I wish you didn't add ... what ever it is that makes it stereo. Like one of the channels has EQ on it. This way I have no idea how amp really sounds, because stereo audio picture gives so much better sound, and I see only one mic.

  • left side = sm 57 on cone

right side = ambient akg 451 mic

youtube compression when i uploaded back then combined the two somehow and created what you hear...original recording was much cleaner and not as cracky sounding

  • @mentoneman What do you run the mics into when you recorded this? I love how you capture the dynamics

  • @kurbloid

Dude, go to the store and play one. An 18mb mp4 is not going to give you a very good idea of an amps sound. Youtube ruins mp3s and compresses them to hell. Then again, if you are a kid, you probably couldn't tell due to mp3-itus anyway lol!

  • This is one of my favorite videos on YouTube. Seriously. The tones in this video are killer and the playing is relaxing or something.

  • Yeah, I'm agree.

  • Nice tone man I can here that Marshally kind of roar behind but with more clarity and gain

  • As far as I know, Soldanos are actually based on Marshall circuitry, with some gain stages added, so your guess is probably correct :)

  • Sounds nothing like a Marshall to me,I would take this over any marshall;-)

  • haha what would you need a house for when you can have this amp?

  • sounds amazing just coming from my speakers.. sounds way better In person

  • lets see the fractal axe fx do this.

  • Where I live, for that stack you could buy a house... and a big one.

  • you live in the Midwest or Arkansas?

  • @stratman7000

Central europe, I over-exaggerated a bit, but you'd have to get it from the USA (except for the diesel) And that stack costs like 1/3 of a good family house here.

  • thats it I'm moving to europe. I pay monthly half the price of that amp for rent in my apartment

  • not really, in Germany you can get these for 3000 euros and where do you find a good family house for 9000?

  • @madezecke

In poland alltogether those would cost around 20000PLN, and for 60000 you can find a house :)

  • ah ok sorry then i dont know what its like in poland^^

  • yeah but a house doesn't have as good of tone haha

  • xD It's turning me on xD

  • It's a demo?

  • phenomenal playin dude. specially at the end doin eddie riffs. real nice. kept forgetting to listen to the slo.lol

  • It would be good to hear a great distortion from this unit

  • It would be good to hear something different from this unit, you know something that hasnt been exhausted by guitar players for the last 40 years.

  • splawn amps sound like it IMO

  • Fantastically built & sounding amp..

I even like the cleans on this, even though people complain about them, although i guess in comparison to it's high gain lead tones they aren't this amps strong point.. But i'm loving that funky tone!

  • this amp for lead and a jc-120 for cleans is the perfect amp rig

  • How bout a good ole Marshall Plexi for a nice crunch tone! jc-120 clean tone, vintage plexi crunch tone, Soldano hi-gain and lead tone. Now that is THE backline!

  • It's already there... CAE 3+

It's based on a Mesa Boogie clean, Marshall crunch and a Soldano lead.

  • How much is that?! thats like the best thing ever.

  • Comment removed

  • This is the greatest rock amp ever built imo. If I could have any one amp on this earth to take into outer space, it would be a Soldano SLO. It would probably open a black hole

  • The SLO is one badass amp...but I gotta go with the one of the newer Bogner Uberschalls though!

  • @jacobtheguitarfreak check out eh cornford amps simply amazing too

  • is he on 16 Oms cuz if he turn up this thin more on 4 he will blow the whose city!

  • I'm pretty sure there is no volume difference between 4 and 16 ohms...

  • is that eddie van halen?

  • sounds like angus young at around 2:34

  • im talking tone-wise, duh.

  • i gotta mesa mark V, now im' think'n i should have gotten something like this....but i can still tweak the Mark V

  • well im afraid it wouldve been a different price range, plus at this price point its more just preference. some of the best tone + good players use mesas i definately think theyre great.
