@Watch3r15 I doubt that. They were hibernating. If anything, that's the nervous system making a last-ditch attempt to keep the body's main functions going.
So, you're saying, HAL killed everyone because it didn't understand the simple concept of lying??? He should meet my wife...that bitch never tells the truth.
@aurorasky19 Just make sure no malavolent supercomputer doesn't smother you in your sleep. Human females needing their beauty sleep is ineffecient. Computers do not have gender. They do not sleep.
(I imagined all that being said in Hal's creepy voice, and now I've freaked myself out, lol!)
The reason why 2001: A Space Odyssey is one of my favorite films is because most of the action takes place in silence. It shows that action and power is not necessarily about being explosive.
The vital signs monitor looks so ahead of time (except the "malfunction" blinking which looks like it has a lightbulb underneath) it's hard to believe it was all designed 42 years ago - you can actually imagine seeing displays like this in a modern hospital!
@hotelmario510 This is what happens when government gives a secret to a computer. According to space odyssey II, it is revealed that hal is not programed to lie. Look it up :)
i like how silent it is that just adds to the creepiness

The nervous system going crazy at the end, something tells me the last thing these guys felt was extreme pain.

@skinnymun How did they die? I haven't read the book.
MarijaBlueBG 10 months ago
@skinnymun well the book and the movie were both made separately, the book was to explain more of what the movie didnt though
soric16 10 months ago
@soric16 actually, the movie was made after the book. the movie was supposed to be (more or less) a remake of the book

I like how there already was a built-in indicator light for "LIFE FUNCTIONS TERMINATED" because they anticipated this might happen.

Exactly
And when sound is used it adds to the atmosphere
Like he sound of an airtank leaking when the POD kills Frank and the same noise being used when Dave disconnects HAL
