i would like to see and hear a digital recording of the gloria liturgical chant lagrime di san petro come falda fro di neve by orlandi di lassus availluble on digital audio music cds availuble in recorrd stores by philips records
this is an old changer ...my old emerson had an arm that came out to touch the record to measure what size it was, i guess. nowadays kinda would get a retro kick out of loading it up with some 45s, not collectables, just average well played ones in my collection , and just kick back and drift off into the past.
This was my 1st Stereo record player my mum and dad got me for my Xmas/birthday as i was Boxing day baby :-) Pye use Garrard to as I have Pye Black box with Garrard 209 deck in it from 1959
The Phillips-Collero-Magnavox changers were, I believe, totally unrelated to BSR. The latter had a manual record size selector by '73, while the Phillips still checked the size of stack before each record droped (as you can see at 0:04). Various models of these changers were made in various countries until 1993!
This is an all-Philips affair. You didn't see BSR decks in Philips equipment, though bizarrely, some PYE music centres had BSRs,even though PYE and Philips were very closely tied up then!
For those interested, the song playing is "The Good Times," by Nat King Cole. It was the "B" side of "Ramblin Rose" on my pressings. It came from the same 1962 album, "Ramblin Rose."
philips rocks, the best electronics company in the world, founded in 1891 it's the oldest and the biggest, introduced the compact cassette(audio cassette) the cd, video2000, the dvd, and bluy ray(in parthnership with sony) sony is allied with philips sony pay philips so when philips invent somthing the first to know are sony, philips rocks.search wickipedia philips philips aurea with ambilight tecnology, also the philips cinema 29.1 rocks, i love philips i just got a gogear and it rocks,
I'm holding a 1973 Lafayette Radio catalog with a changer like that (just the changer, base, cartridge and dust cover) for $29.95. It looked like a good deal then, but I could never figure out who made it from the picture; seeing yours run made it obvious that it was a Phillips-Collaro-Magnovox clone.
I think that was just the Capitol records logo. My copy of "Yellow Submarine" has it, but there's nothing specific to the Beatles other than the song and artist titles.
Hello,l have a very similar record deck, they were made by Philips for the UK
chemist chain "Boots" and branded "Boots Audio".Mine must be 35
years old,l had it as a kid,and haven't the
heart to chuck it-after all,it works perfectly!
The speakers clip on top when not in use,
and like yours it has a built in amp.The
cartridge, though,is a satin silver finish, some were shiny chrome.Never knew they made the Philips in Brazil though!Good vid, hope the old player keeps going!
You've had that player since you were a kid? Wow, clearly you took very good care of it, unlike me. I have a Sharp stereo system that my parents bought me when I was 8 years old, I still have it, but I think the heads have seen better days, I think they need replacing, they're in a pretty bad shape.
Sexy changer! Never seen this machine before. I love how the tonearm selects the record size itself. Brilliant thinking.
I have a 1964 Zenith with Micro-Touch 2 that has an independent arm for auto-sensing the record size allowing it to also intermix discs but I've never tried it that way.
Your video brought back some fond memories ! My father had a similar turntable back in the seventies though ours came in cabinet. Record player in the top third, AM/FM radio in the middle and storing room at the bottom. It came with matching speaker units about the same height as the main cabinet. I am from South Africa, can anybody confirm if this set was sold elsewhere in the world ?
Well, I know that this kind of turntable was large avaliable in Brazil, and also in Holland. But I didn't know that this was sold in South Africa, or in other part of the World.
@Spacekriek em 1978 comprei uma dessa e paguei em 10 prestações nas lojas cem em são roque, e o primeiro LP que tive foi da Novela Espelho Magico, e discoteque whiskadão.
hello thank you for such a quick response . this song in your video on the 1973 philips 547 sounds like stand by me with different words but it is a great song.
along with an elac miracod , and an old zenith belt drive turntable this is a great changer I was wondering if you know if the cartridge could be changed to a magnetic onethank you and keep bringing these great videos
Yes, I had seen once on internet a magnetic cartridge that fit in most of Philips' record players - but I've never found one of these, especially here in Brazil where I live.
Hey. I love your videos - I wish I had a Philco turntable like yours.
In fact, I tought Philips was the inventor of this changing mechanism, just recently I found that Collaro actually was the fisrt company to introduce this type of changer.
Thanks! My Philco was a lucky find, and my second vintage player....and I have yet to find another as funstional on day of purchase as it wa. Everything since normally needs some form of service. BTW...I meant 'vinylman86' (comment below) told me about this video, 'Damusician' is the same guy, but is his other account.

Capitol adopted the yellow/red swirl label in 1962 for its 45s. It was the standard 45 label until 1969.

Nice changer. It works like Perpetuum Ebner, Collaro, Elac Miracord. The tonearm feels the record size. Thank you.

Yes, I used to have a Collaro player that was awesome, but, unfortunately, it has broken without chance to be fixed.
But I found that these Philips changers works in the same mode, and are good enough.

collaro was a popular changer in the magnavox sets. in the 60's it was called "magnavox micromatic"
