@bigbenITA ok if you are want some massive and yet beautiful sound get the logitech z-5500 and if you want to throw away money get the Bose Companion, I owned Companion 5, Z-2300 and now Z-5500. Honestly from the bottom of my heart I don't recommend them, they sound nice to 35% volume max, later on you stop hearing the bass.... if that's what you want get Bose, if you want bass that will always cover the hi sounds get Logitech. One more thing... don't compare car audio to house stereo systems.

@bigbenITA Bose has an incredible button if you like to touch, very sensitive, but honestly I prefer my girlfriends nipples... if thats the case, beautiful design, performance.... there's not much to compare. Oh, I'd almost forgot... Bose makes good luxury car audio, why? QUANTITY... every car that comes with it has dozens of speakers... they have to sound good together....

@Jacob500 The Companion 3s are supposed to deliver better bass balance, and the Companion 5s are supposed to deliver better treble precision. Although, you cannot compare the 3 & the 5 at all because both their speakers and sub woofers are engineered completely differently.

I can't imagine listening to this speakers when they are approx 1,5m or less from your ears. That's way to close.

In my opinion BOSE virtually invisible speakers (gemstone, jewel cube, ...) always sound better when they have enough space (where there is enough distance between the speaker and the ears)

These speakers are so good that it's a shame for them to be used (solely) as computer speakers. I have them in my kitchen/living/dining room which altogether measures over 40m2 and they absolutely fill it with sound. Of course they are hooked up directly to an Onkyo CD player via 3,5mm jack to cinch cable.

I also watch DVDs and DivX movies via computer (hooked to a TV) therefore USB output is the only option (by which the overall output is naturally weaker then the CD's 2V RMS output).

my mum has these speakers in the kitchen they are ok for what she listens to as its easy listening. But overall she could of got one hell of a seperates system with the money those things cost and would have sounded better but some people will not take my advice on sound quality, ive only been focusing hard on audio technology for last 20 odd years but why listen ey.

the video is that great but i have the same speakers Bose my friend IS the best. Some say that the quality isn't worth the difference, I beg to differ. Consumer wise it is quite high up there Studio/Production wise not they are not Bose let you hear rich deep tones and smooth high tones so the do not give true sound if you don't like that because you are in Studio/Production ect. Go buy some good studio monitors and a good amp then you will be sweet.

And most of them are consumer speakers too that may cost as much and many times less than Bose yet you will get much better quality. And why doesn't Bose give the specs on any of their speakers.
