Maybe not as good a song as "honesty" or "just the way you are", but certainly one of Billy's 5 best songs ever, which is saying quite alot. But the video? Absolutely awesome! I'd rate it as his best music video, with "pressure" maybe as #2.
This is a great song that is rather obscure if you're not a Billy Joel fan. I like this album as much as Turnstiles. They have a different feel, not as much of a commercial appeal, and stand the test of time. These songs never get old. Timeless, probably...at least for me.
Man, it's hard to believe this song's almost 30 years old. I was 7 when it first came out. It STILL sounds brand new! Not many musicians today are HALF as good as the Piano Man, hands down!
so true. Billy Joel is amazing. Elton John too ^^ This is one of the few Billy Joel songs I had never heard, but I absolutely love it! I found it by mistake.
Can't say I can share remembering when it came out though. I'm 19. But my dad had me grow up listening to the best music on Earth ^^ but My mom let me listen to Billy Joel (my dad doesn't like him) So I can thank my mom for introducing me to the amazing skills of Billy Joel
MUSIC: Sounds, usually produced by instruments or voices, that are arranged or played in order to create an effect. STOP COMPARING SINGERS, GENRES,ERAS just enjoy this one!
The gorgeous woman in this video was also in the video for "Black Coffee In Bed" by the band Squeeze. So was Billy Joel's old man neighbor. I think both videos had the same director.
miss them days bring back memories when MTV was what it was supposed to be music videos instead of the heap of so called relaity garbage they runnign these days!
i love this song/video whos the girl in the video a friend said rosi perez but cant be rosie perez is petite the girl is tall caus ei think joel is 5"8 and she taller than him?
I got the essential billy joel music videos. I love this Video and the song seems to be a ghost that reminds you of years ago. Very cute video. Even that tree loves Billy Joel, he needs better security.
Definitely his most under appreciated album. Not a dud on it. Plus it has his best song craft, period. Which is why it's the only other Billy Joel album still in my record collection, besides Cold Spring Harbor.
@Tolstoy111 I didn't say that those albums had no craft. I'm saying that this album has his BEST craft. The other albums are over played and over discussed. The Nylon Curtain is one that I don't hear nearly as often on radio as I do Piano Man, The Stranger, 52nd St,, An Innocent Man, etc....
One of my BJ songs. I am a fan less than popular songs like b-sides etc. They seem to have more character and creativity. Artistry, not just selling reecords.
Great song, but physical comedy and slapstick is not what BJ should be doing. Look at OK Go for clever physical comedy. Granted their music is not even in the same league! : )
This is actually my favorite Billy Joel song. From "The Nylon Curtain" album. The video is just the way I remember it. Amazing, since this is the first time I've seen it in 20 years. Funny, too.
This really is a funny video, and a really excellent song -hard rocking and beautiful. Billy Joel made great music videos that always held up over the years.
Billy Joel makes some bad ass music videos!

freakin' love that almost harpsichord like instrumental break at around 2:50...only Billy could pull that off and not sound corny or something
