@thehorrortastic that's why the navy requires lower ASVAB scores and offers navy tours of duty in lieu of prison.... Sounds was better. How'd you come up on this video anyway? Having second thoughts about your career choice and wanted to day dream again?
The Pacific Ocean currents off Northern California come straight south from Alaska. In addition to the high waves, there is a strong rip tide, treacherous undertow and the water is freezing cold. It takes a special kind of stupid to go out into that water with nothing more than a fiberglass board or a little jet-ski.
@TheHorrorTastic Well that's not true at all! I have family in both-more in the Navy, though-and I don't think that anyone brave enough to volunteer and risk their life is a 'bitch'. It's very disrespectful to both branches to say that.
I was stationed at Humboldt CG Station 92-96; back when 44s were there. We used to do surf drills when the bar was breaking tip to tip. The waves in this vid are actually pretty small compared. We would rarely drill in the "middle ground" as shown here.
Sorry to all the men and women of the USCG and viewers, I realized I put cutters when I should have typed LIFEBOATS! I didn't realize this until after I uploaded the video.
@OregonBoysVideo i would love to see the boat side on against it, any fkn boat will ride over the waves bow into it. in my opinion this boat is actually too short, fine boat tho. shes like a cork tho
i love that! i would kill to be stationed there. i am only 13 but im gonna go to the maritime academy. can u pick where u are stationed? any tips on being in the surf training because i wanna be surf rescue driver for the lifeboat.
It's just a cool video with great music. Not meant to compete with Hawaii or anywhere else. It is what it is! I for one am glad this person made this video. My daughter is in the closest boat.
Who said this video was being compared to Hawaii? Last time I checked the description there is nothing in there that says"These are the biggest waves on the west coast". Blah Blah Blah... It says a large ocean swell impacted the Pacific Northwest Coast. So obiviously your comment shows your ignorance and your lack of reading the description.
In keeping with a Coast Guard theme, I couldn't help but notice: A story in the Virginian-Pilot by LaurEN KING published on NOV. 1, 2009 says: "The Coast Guard is scheduled to begin a commercial fishing safety effort today to coincide with the start of the cold-weather season, which brings rougher seas.
The Coast Guard will send boarding teams and dock-side examiners to check safety equipment through the cold-weather season, which ends APRIL 30.
This next tidbit may only interest those who grew up watching TV in the 1980s, but it's ironic that the Coast Guard's cold-weather season ends APRIL 30, since the date is the birthday of two stars of the NBC series "Riptide". In keeping with a COASTAL theme, the show, created by FRANK LUPo, featured Cody ALLEN (Perry KING) and Nick Ryder (Joe Penny) as two former army buddies who decided to open the Pier 56 Detective Agency (later known as the RIPTIDE Detective Agency) in Los Angeles.
"Riptide" also starred Thomas edWARD "Tom" BRAY as helicopter pilot Murray 'Boz' Bozinsky. BRAY was born APRIL 30, 1954 and will turn 56 when the Coast Guard's cold-weather season ends on 4/30/10. Perry FIREstone KING, who played Cody ALLEN on the show was born APRIL 30, 1948 and will turn 62 when the cold-weather season ends. Thomas edWARD "Tom" BRAY is unrelated to NFL wide receiver BRAYlon edWARDS, despite the 4413 primary school & edWARDS playing in CLEVELAND where there's HOPKINS Intl'
No biggie! No one would really know the difference anyway. It's an awsome video, thanks for taking and posting it. This is the first time I got to see her on the job and in training!
My baby girl is on the front boat, in the furthest forward by the bow. She's only 20 years old. She's loving it but I am a nervous wreck however. We were always pulling her out of the drink when she was little. For some reason she was always falling in. I hope she holds on tight. Keep safe baby!!!
All I can fiind for Pierre Langer is where you can purchase the rights to his music. I DJ some hockey and would like to use this song. How did you get it.

Correction again. Motor life boats. Cutters are 65 feet and larger. The 'cuda in eureka is a cutter.
