Hip/hop is in such a state of flux that it is impossible to say who’s the best right now. There needs to be more music and artists who stay consistent for an accurate assessment to be made. Right now the only people who seem to have longevity are the people who have been here. i.e. Lil Wayne from the South and Jay Z from the East Coast. Who else is there? Nothing lasting is out there. Hell we only have The Game on the West Coast. No one is coming and staying as yet. It's really hard to say.

Ludacris Scarface Jay Electronica Lil Wayne all either have had longevity or will in the future these are really just a few but yea the South have been the most successful rap artists lately but as far as real Hip Hop with actually thought and lyricism New York has way more artists I'm from the South and I Listen to a lot more MC's from up north the south is heavy with dance songs and for some reason that is successful lately even on the east
